He is actually having a hissy fit. I imagine him throwing stuff around the box in a rage. Normal I would say no penalty however Fernandez was true of goals with the ball going to him and it was stopped which is why I think it was a penalty
God almighty. Please tell me this is a wind up
Portugal way better since ronaldo went off
Uruguay and Ghana will be some grudge match. Ghana will want revenge for the 2010 Quarter Final.
He's spent the whole game moaning, so much for entertainment.
Ha, I mean, perspective is kind of important... the ball could be 5 meters closer to camera in that image 😅
(and while I'm being facetious, it does look like the ball is closer to camera in that image, unless Ronaldo has a very weirdly sized head)
Ronaldo hobbling. Does he ever not want bloody attention?
Nice angle how about others
Such pity Uruguay have not been able replace the quality of Suarez and Cavani. Not same without them at their best.
With a population of only 3.5 million, it's a borderline miracle for them to have had two of the absolute best strikers of the modern game at the same time... like ourselves with Duff and Keane, there may be a bit of a wait for another player of that absolute elite tier to come along.
I won't feel too sorry for them though, I think we'd all bloody kill for a few lads of the calibre of Bentancur, Nunez, Valverde etc 😅
Dunno about other angles. I saw it first on the Goal account.
Hair gel nowadays is pretty strong!
Nothing to do with "being through on goal" in there.
Reminds me of the phantom header Maradona did for his handball in 86.
Brady hasn't watched Ronaldo in a few years saying he is brilliant at staying onside.
Only for the full back messed up he would have been miles off as usual
They fairly conclusively showed it shouldn't have been a penalty in studio there anyway, with Law 12 of the handball stuff.
Y'know, a documentary with a camera crew in the VAR studio would be the most fascinating thing, seeing the conversations and justifications of these things. Like, i'd love to have seen that conversation take place amongst these supposed professionals, and how they managed to justify giving it.
My team of the 2nd round of games:

Honourable mentions: Munir (Morocco), Marquinhos (Brazil), Aguerd (Morocco), Kim Jin-Su (Korea), Musiala (Germany), Kramaric (Croatia), Lewandowski (Poland), Cho (Korea), Messi (Argentina).
Best coach: Regragui (Morocco).
It seems that the IFAB (basically the laws of the game) document on handball contains a diagram of what should and shouldn’t be given as a penalty. The diagram shown of what should not be a penalty is literally what happened in the game! No idea how they gave it.
Always feel a little sad when the heaviest tv coverage period is over, like the feast is dwindling to a meal...
Bonus awards of subs-of-the-round to Aboubakar, and Enzo Fernández. Two absolute game-changers. (Fernandez just about shades it for me i think though!)
Yeah, like, it's probably not healthy for us all to have 4 matches in a row each day for too long, but it's glorious while it's there.
I was starting to struggle for ‘World Cup watching’ match fitness. Hard to keep up with everything that is going on. I think I will be worse in the final group games as will have to pick and chose.
Knockouts are when the real fun begins IMO and the extra pressure can do funny things to teams/players/refs both positive/negative
I missed the end of the Serbia v Cameroon match last I saw was 3-1 Serbia. So I got a shock when I checked. Always have a soft spot for Cameroon since Milla in 90. Delighted to see they are still in the mix.
No games at 10am?!?
This World Cup is an utter disgrace...
#boycottQatar2020 😜
..
young American Tyler Adams was hit by some aggressive and antagonistic questioning from an Iranian (it's pronounced E-Ran) journo and thought he fielded it very well
At least your withdrawal symptoms will get a fix at 3pm instead of having to wait until 4pm.
Are any of RTE , ITV or BBC showing the US v Iran game on one of their channels?
I think he did a great job with his relpy actually and showed up the guy who asked the question
Thought it was fairly common sense it should have been a penalty to be honest.
Harsh on the defender but it would be more harsh on the attacker to be denied a scoring opportunity because a defenders hand changed the direction of the ball like it did.
Rule needs updating to make this call correct and a lot more clear.
However it does raise the question of how the VAR refs seem to make a common sense call rather than a strictly by the rules call as we often hear they have to make.
