"The development of tanks and their tactics and the use of "storm trooper" tactics were responses to this"
Only after walking across no mans land into machine gun fire was given a good try.
Nobody would be safe in trenches either anymore
It was a surprise to the troops and commanders in WW1 as well, both sides were envisioning a war of manouver , (happened on the eastern front ),
Industrial capacity to produce arms and ammunition , to move food, men and equipment , to make barbed wire and defensive lines on a vast scale, and keep them there for years on end ,was not "the plan "
Mass artillery were to make assaults possible , and machine guns to allow defence ..
The development of tanks and their tactics and the use of "storm trooper" tactics were responses to this ,
I don't think so. If Putin wanted him gone, he could easily have him done away with.
Putin probably views Bakhmut and Wagner as a useful stop gap. Convicts are expendable politically, and if the operation goes tits up he can blame Wagner. This sideshow also buys him time to keep Ukrainian attention fixed on Bakhmut while he completes mobilization.
Programmable grenade rounds, launched from a remote-controlled weapon. Controlled by antenna on the launcher.
Reminds me of the weapons they used to cover a tunnel in "Aliens."
Hopefully no rounding errors in the code :)
Terrifying. Can shoot behind things and around corners. If these show up, I doubt the RuZZian grunts with their Moisin-Nagants will have much chance.
The newest versions with 40 mm airburst is really a nasty weapon if you are on the reciving end
Google MK-19. There's a Youtube video from the vendor. It's a grenade launcher, with a range of like 2km, and among other things can take out flying drones. TBF it's probably a lot like 'Duck Hunt' with a heavy-duty machine gun.
This video is interesting seeing the actual drone footage (not recent) and the 40mm launcher operator working together. Normally the drone footage is of artillery bombardment without seeing the operators.
I think Bakhmut could possibly be Putin's way of pulling Prigozhin's teeth by effectively getting Ukraine to run down the strength of the Wagner forces and hence his power.
I'm sure Vlad the lad will issue a decree, he loves his decrees, so he does
“CAN go unpunished…”
Thats nice of them ☺️
Clown?
lol I was thinking more fight outside the kabab shop at 3am C word.
Yep - "Communist", they hate that !
Not sure why, they don't even know what one is !!!
Was it the C word 😁
It's obvious Bakhmut is at it's most precarious stage yet. But I don't think it's ready to fall yet. If the Russians are losing piles of soldiers multiple times higher then Ukraine, then it's worth holding at all costs.
Unless they make progress north and south and threaten to encircle I can't see them pulling back. It would be in Ukraines interest to hold until the real cold snaps hit. Russians will be dying even faster.
And when the ground freezes over don't be surprised if Ukraine use vehicles and armour in a counter attack to retake lost ground.
I'd also expect Russia to start using armour again themselves all across the front line. They've smartly decided to hold back in this regard so they're clearly learning from some mistakes.
But one thing is now certain. The rumoured November attack by Russia was true. They've gone all out across the Donbass and even Luhansk line yet made minimal gains. Disasterous mobilisation that will soon need another to keep this **** show going. Hopefully Ukraine are still training 10k soldiers abroad every month.
If say the gloves are off now, when it comes to the Wagner group. The head cnut openly admitted he was interfering in US elections and trying to cause strife. Would not o be surprised if his asserts all over the globe start going up in smoke.
This is interesting.
Seems a foreign aircraft bombed a military base used by Wagner forces in the central African republic......
Who could do such a thing....
From tonights match between Uraguay and Portugal.
Astana is Kazakhstan in fact - they basically made a vulgar comment about him.
Poor oul Putin is loved in Russia.
Yes, but its some situation where the terrors they face on the front line are ranked less than the terrors they face going home to Russia, or even trying to go home.
Only for Ukraine, no telling where the Orcs would be by now, East Germany? Finland? Sweden? Hitting London with rockets? Impossible scenario??? Maybe, but if that were ever to happen, these people who seem to be happy to comment whenever are Ruzzians are perceived as advancing might have good cause to change their opinion.
A bit like Stalingrad, which wasn't really necessary for the Germans to trake in order the close the Volga - their stated goal. They could have closed it from wherever they happened to reach it (as it happened, just north of Stalingrad at first), but Hitler wanted that extra poke in the eye to Stalin for the sake of prestige, and it cost him dearly.
I don't see any immediate threat for Bakhmut. Ukraine still control 3 roads/junctions into the city. With frontal assaults failing, the only way for Russia to take the city will be to cut the supply routes in order to force Ukraine to withdraw.
Seems like Vladimir Putin is well aware about the threat his private armies pose to him personally. Military supplies between Eastern China (Ussuri river crossing) and Russia have been blocked, despite being fully paid for, with huge stockpiles on the Chinese side. Body Armour, heavy plates, Helmets, quad copters, Gloves, Optic's, Radios etc. This blockage was imposed by the Russian side. Reason given? Only persons with Kremlin clearance (ie Putin) are allowed to import anything of a military nature into the territory of the Russian Federation. So he is working on a further layer of personal protection re Private Armys.
Exactly, the losses are not sustainable if this continues
They face execution at the hand of Russian blocking units ,it's death from Ukrainans, hypothermia,or fellow Russians .
Was going to post a video from bakhmut showing a Russian advance while a Ukrainan drone with thermal imaging picked them up over head just as artillery starts anilating them
Yep. Deserting and heading home would be the right (and honourable) thing to do considering the wrongness of their cause.
