Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
Good morning guys, I hope you are well. I have a question, I applied for the Clerical Officer 2023 role as soon as the positions opened however, I haven't received news. When during the year do applicants like me know they get selected for interviews? And how was the process for you guys who made it through?
Thanks in advance!
@Hotblack Desiato You're not wrong! Every single cent extra I got since making EO is gone due to the increased prices of everything, my CO pay definitely couldn't have covered it. I have less (if any!) disposable income now than when I started as CO.
@salonfire Yes, the benefit of working within the CS is the job security, nobody is denying that. However, the pay at CO level is barely enough to live on, especially starting out. Pitting the public sector against the private sector is an age old tactic to keep everyone down and it's simply facilitating the race to the bottom. Everyone is struggling right now and cutting back on spending through necessity, which could potentially put small businesses under, but that's not the fault of the CO who is barely making ends meet - and believe me, that 1-2% increase is going to do feck all to alleviate the situation.
As for the "shortened" work week - I notice nobody was shouting about this when the work week was increased with no additional pay. So, no, it's not shortened, it's reverted to what it used to be before everyone got screwed over to ensure banks and bond holders weren't held responsible for their own actions. It's disgraceful that anyone can be forced to work extra hours for no additional pay - private or public sector.
Hi @ranierogrimaldi Did you get your OOM from the online assessments?
I haven't received my OOM for CO 2023 yet.
Hi @ranierogrimaldi was it the Temporary Clerical Officer 2023 competition or the Clerical Officer 2023 (Location Dublin) you applied for? The results for the Temporary Clerical Officer were released last Monday, the results for Clerical Officer 2023 (Dublin) haven’t been released yet. Hope this helps.
I haven’t either. I’ll let you know when I do.
Just got my results @raheny red
Ha, same. They're watching.... In the 500s for Dublin. Best of luck.
Obviously hehe 😜 130 ish for Dublin, nearly fell off my chair
Sub 100 for me
Congrats 🎉
TCO I got the top group. CO I got 1725 :(
Hi @honeyjo I used to be the same would get very high marks for TCO Comps, don’t get disheartened and keep on trying. That’s what I did and it paid off. 🌟
Thanks Moomoland. I will keep on trying.
Just got this message for CO 2023.
Further to your participation at Stage 1 of the selection process for the above mentioned competition, I am pleased to inform you that you have reached the qualifying standard and have been placed 2056 on the order of merit.
Please click here for Feedback on your Stage 1 Assessment Questionnaire.
Your score is outlined below:
Your Score: 4473
Qualifying Score: 2180
is this good or bad? What does this mean?
It wouldn't be a great score but really depends on how many positions need to be filled throughout next year/how many people drop out, if you will ever be called
Quick question but I applied for this new CO comp and just got my results of stage 1 today too. My competition says CO2022 not 2023. So I am wondering if everyone else’s says 22 or 23 ? 🤔
It's 2022 on mine as well
2056 OOM for Dublin! Don’t know what to think 🤔
I'm 63 in Dublin ..hopefully interviews won't be too long
Great score too - hopefully we won't be waiting too long for interviews to start
That’s brilliant, congrats 🎉
Scored in the 600’s in Dublin, looking forward to the next stage !
I am currently based in Revenue in Dublin after passing last years CO2022 comp. My OOM last year was 1069 and it took from January 2022 to late April 2022 for them to reach me for my interview. After passing the interview it took around 3 months to be contacted by clearance and get cleared to actually been given my position. I started in Revenue in August 2022. So in total around 10 months from my first application for me.
I know of someone who’s OOM was mid 2000s for that same competition and was only called for her interview last month in October. She passed and hasn’t heard anything yet to be placed in her position. The process can be quite long so bare that in mind. It took from late April to October to reach an extra thousand on OOM. I was told they done interviews in blocks of 50/60 at a go.
Unfortunately for me the department and location of my current position in Revenue doesn’t suit me so I have applied for this years new CO Comp hoping I might be placed somewhere else if I pass this time around too. My new OOM for this comp is 190 so massive difference from last years 1069. Hoping I get called by about February for this Interview.
What do you do in Revenue (like CO's in general) and what's it like - some saying they are hiring a lot in the new year
What did you get
Is that directed at me? Under 100
It is completely different in each department of the Revenue. Unfortunately I got placed somewhere that has no other CO on the team and there hasn’t been much training available for COs from Revenue Training Branch for me. My division carries out very high up complex audits and I am located in Dublin. My commute is 1hr 30 mins in and out twice a week. I work from home 3 days a week and in the office only 2 days at the moment.
I am not surprised they are hiring so many because everyday 2-3 new emails come in with staff retiring. It seems over half of the Revenue are leaving this year due to retirement.
PAYE has full training I was told. I won’t name the division I got placed in but I have been told other divisions like PAYE in revenue provide full training from the get go. I think I just got unlucky with where I was assigned but then again that is just down to my division and lack of work available for COs.
Thanks, I've heard work there is good so I'm half hoping I get placed there and WFH would be a bonus!
Hi guys,I have a question that will look absolutely naive. Is the CO 2022, the one we just had the results of, only for position in Dublin city? What if you'd like to work in a different county?
Thx 😊
