Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
Kraftwerk in trinity in June
PSB in 3 arena in June as well
50 quid for Kraftwerk. Happy with that. Although it does say 'tickets FROM', so do they have that golden circle nonsense in Trinity?
General admission only in trinity. No pit/golden circle as that’s only required for larger shows
Absolutely delighted they're playing Limerick, should be a brilliant gig with the castle as a backdrop.
All Together Now revealing their first artists this week. Seems a good bit earlier earlier usual. Think it was usually February.
Saxon coming to Dublin in March
Primavera also announcing tomorrow. I wonder is there any shared headliners who haven't been announced yet for euro festival runs this coming summer?
My guess is LCD Soundsystem. I know they are rumoured for Kilmainham but they would be perfect fit for ATN.
Lcd veer too expensive for ATN at this point. Much to detriment of the rest of the line up
Saw Kraftwerk last summer at a festival.
3D glasses were provided for the spectacular light show.
Only problem was is that there were 4 mannequin dummies on stage leaning against 4 tables which slightly obscured the view.
Metallica return but no irish date
Might be a bit too soon after the slane gig. Would have been a good few years between the last time they played here and slane. Was kinda hoping suntroke would try to make another comeback though obviously Metallica would be too big for it.
The two consecutive shows in every city, in the round nature, all kinda rule out Irish shows. 2 nights in marley park only realistic venue for such an endeavour.
I wouldn't be so confident of them selling out two nights there, but it might be possible.
The weeknd playing marlay park in June
Balls only a few days after Blur and then Crue and Leppard week after
**** June
The no repeats thing could shift a few tickets, but yeah, I can't see it.
It's a 2 year "world tour" with no UK or Canadian dates announced. I doubt that's all the dates announced.
Whats happened the RDS as a venue or even the Aviva ?
Marley Park and Malahide have no seats.
I know the RDS is a bit of a dump but its better than the other 2 places.
Aren’t they doing the 2 sets at download festival as an uk exclusive in 2023
Yes, but those tour dates run to the end of 2024, I'd happily wager more shows will be added.
metallica tour is 2 nights in every city. Aviva is 65,000 capacity, 130k tickets to sell. That would realistically be far above fan base in ireland.

Then virtually nothing else for the entire summer! That's a crazy amount of gigs to have on in such a short space of time. A shame really as there are at least 4 or 5 there I'd be interested in but doing so many in such a condensed period (and many of them midweek) means I'll probably only do one or two. Many acts there I would have liked to see at All Together Now or Electric Picnic too so will be interesting to see who is left over for them.
Surely all of these gigs can't sell well - a different demographic for a lot and a big appetite for gigs after covid not withstanding - but surely only so many big outdoor gigs can do well in a short space of time. Not a chance it's me being a bitter teacher who doesn't finish until 30th June 🤥
It was the same this year, and most of them sold well, and all bar 1 or 2 of those acts haven't played here in a while.
It's pure logistics, the stages come in from Europe so you can't have them being constantly put up/broken down. Lot easier to get staff when you can give them 13 days in a month as well.
Ah no you are right it does make sense, I am just being a moaner. There was a lot of gigs on around that time of year in 2022 but next June looks like one of the busiest/best for gigs there has ever been. Hopefully we get some good weather!
First weekend in June there's Lionel Richie & Human League in St Annes Park also!
I wasnt directly referring to Metallica per say , just in general.
I guess the RDS might finally be getting its redevelopment next summer.
Bruce has 3 nights there, not sure if there's any sort of resident's agreement, plus the actual halls are constantly in use, so again logistics.
Plus Hans Zimmer on the 18th in the 3Arena and (if it does surprisingly go ahead) Judas Priest and Ozzy on the 10th.
all Of those are MCD as well.
add another dozen shows to be added in June for like of trinity, fairview and st Anne’s.
iveagh gardens shows for July being announced in coming weeks as well
Only a few acts who could sell 65,000 tickets in the aviva hence it’s limited use. If none touring next year means it’s just not used.
Great line up tbf and as you siad all in a condensed time so choices have to be made who too see along with other factors. Food and drink prices will be gone up at venues along with transport costs
Atm have
Depeche Mode (Malahide)
Blur (Malahide)
Def Leppard/Motley Crue (Marlay Park)
In tempted by 'The Weeknd' and (if it finally happens) Ozzy/Judas Preist in the 3Arena
No doubt more concerts will be added in the next week or 2
still nothing announced for Aviva and Croke Park. Maybe no Croke Park concerts with the amount of shows this year with Ed Sheeran and Garth Brooks
