New Munster chat thread folks. warning deserved there. https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=109477571#post109477571
That's true. I suppose Crowley is in a better position now, getting minutes at 15. As opposed to last season when he couldn't get a game at all.
This is a huge leap; they’re not remotely similar.
Crowley’s provincial coaches have been in place and had him available for 5 games.
Frawleys have been there for more seasons.
Its not one selection. Crowley was picked for ulster in front of healy as well. Its a trend.
I doubt Crowley is preferred at 15. Haley was injured and its a 6-2 split. He covers both spots in that arrangement.
I wouldnt be surprised if crowley starts 10 next week.
It’s tough to put him right in above carbery as carbery is on big money and signed until 2024. Personally though, I’d do that.
It’s not at all analogous to Frawley. Leinster coaches obviously prefer him at 12. Most of his appearances at 10 were years ago. Crowley has mostly played 10 for munster. When he has played 15 its usually because he had to off the bench.
He’s 22 and right behind carbery at munster and ireland. It would be madness to move him to leinster and awful for irish rugby. Scooping up the best 10 prospect in years right after sexton leaves would be a kick in the teeth for munster.
Byrne Jr is perennially injured.
Frawley is in a similar situation to Crowley in that his provincial coaches appear to prefer him in a different position to 10.
And the one a few seconds before
Surprised the two head contacts in direct succession that led to POM going off and failing his HIA weren't reviewed. Looked like red cards to me
The Connacht scrum was boring in for the entire game. It was basically the only thing they did well for the entire game, managing to play the ref and disrupt the Munster scrum.
It actually led to one of the Munster tries when prendergast slipped and Casey broke down his channel. Prendergast was driving so crooked that when he got up he was facing the wrong way
Yeah that was stupid. We won that lineout. He effectively penalised Munster for a Connacht infringement
Crowley isn't going to Leinster.
You can have Carbery back if you want another 10
Thus having both Byrnes, Frawley and Crowley all at the same province?
Not sure who that would help. Not Crowley anyway.
Don't be ridiculous
can't see that happening as Healy is already signing 1 year deals.....
And Flannery and Johnson left in the last couple of years...
If Munster don't want to play Crowley at 10 could the IRFU move him to Leinster when Sexton retires?
I really don’t think I am being harsh. Tonight was a perfect illustration, even putting his intercept error to the side, the Munster attack was completely transformed when Crowley came on at 15. Crowley, Joey and Healy are 3 of Munsters best backs and we don’t have the luxury of only starting one of them, especially since Carbery and Crowley are perfectly capable of playing multiple positions. Haley isn’t a bad player and has his place as a squad member but he should be nowhere near a Heineken Cup 23.
Yeah he always seems to be looking to keep the ball alive. It's such a change from having Farrell or Goggin in there. I'm still unsure who's the best option to partner up with him in the centre though. Fekitoa has been very underwhelming so far and whilst Scannell and Goggin are honest players there's no denying their limitations.
I agree. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the backs play off him. I taught there was a couple of occasions Frisch was looking to offload, or play a reverse pass out the back, but the support runners weren't there. I'd also like to see a strike runner like Fekitoa play beside him.
Carbery wasn't convincing but what did Casey do wrong?
I can see Munster in 1-2 years back up where they were 10 years ago..Rowntree is the right coach for Munster. Not convinced to be honest about either half backs tonight. Casey not there yet and needs another 1- 2. Years. Carbery is not the man for munster, he is in his late 20's and everyone is still saying he is developing. Lads trust your 2 young OH's both are better for Munster maybe not Ireland
For actual Munster fans, Frisch was brilliant, Casey was outstanding. Beirne was brilliant, Crowley played great when he came on....
I'm really impressed with Frisch. I can't remember the last time we had a centre who could draw and pass.
So if a player is receiving a ball, sees he is going to be nailed in a tackle. He can just jump in the air before he receives the ball and milk a penalty. I can see a law change coming very quickly. Surely it will become like volley ball in no time. I can understand how the ref got it wrong tonight as its not common.
I don't understand why it's allowed to be honest. This shouldn't be an echo chamber. But if you're only point is that the ref is terrible and robbing connacht then why come into the munster thread to say that. Go to the URC thread or the connacht thread.
8th might get Europe. The winners of the 4 shields get a European spot and then its next 4.
Munster could finish 8th ahead of all the Welsh teams and the top Welsh team would qualify for Europe too.
One post ark....
One singular post
Well done Munster for the win.
The bonus point was important too. They need to be picked up as much as possible. Every point could be important by the end of the season.
You're allowed to jump in the air any time except when you're jumping into a tackle
It's perfectly acceptable to jump to catch any ball
if you don't like it, take it up with world rugby
This is the Munster thread. I can't see any posts by Munster fans because it's full of Leinster fans saying how Connacht were robbed
Don't blame me
Looks like a few people will have to wait until at least next week to stick the boot in. My heart goes out to them.
Munster edged it but some dodgy calls. Are you allowed to jump in the air to receive a hand pass? I can see the Italians using this in the 6 nations. It's a race for both teams to get 8th for europe. Looks like benetton look good for a place plus useless Welsh. Really enjoying the urc this year. Sink or swim for both munster and connacht
