Fodder Support Scheme 2022

Base price

The fodder support scheme is now open for applications. Eligible farmers can apply directly or your Ag consultant can apply on their behalf. Log onto Agfood, click on Exceptional Aid Measures and the Fodder Support Scheme is there. The land parcels must been included in this years BPS application.

Didn't apply for tillage here and nothing showing up as of this morning for the fodder. Bps is due 1/12/22 alright so hopefully it's just a matter of they are releasing the money in batches.

Base price

The most important thing to remember for those that rolled over their application for next year is that you can amend the claimed area before the end of July (I think) 2023 if your acerage has changed. Unfortunately most of us won't remember to check then - hopefully there will be reminders in the Farmers Journal and Agriland nearer the time.

You only have to look back at the first page of this thread to see some of the attitude to it about their being too many hoops to jump through when there was no hoop at all! But I’m with you, it was all for the best as those of us that did apply are a lot better off for them attitudes now.

I would not agree that it is money for jam. It's basically a fertilizer subsidity to beef farmers as market returns are not in line with added cost. What was surprising was the relatively low level of uptake. Because of this those that did apply have been rewarded.

Ya it showing as 1k on agfood. The budget for the fodder scheme was 50 million. There was only applications for a bit with 30 million so full payments per HA were made up to 10 HA.

For those that applied it a double up because of the leftover money they decide to run it for 2023 as well making a forward payment this year with the unused portion of the money.

I cannot understand why more lads did not apply. It was funding that definitely helped to soften the fertilizer bill this year.

I’d forgotten I’d asked about this. Just to close the loop and in case it helps anyone else… the problem was the browser I was using. I use Safari (on Mac) and the DAFM portal wasn’t displaying properly in it. I switched to Chrome and the issue disappeared. All sorted now and looking forward to €2k for filling out a simple form (twice)
