I was a few days behind but caught up. Please add me to the list that hate Murphs irish language bit. Hopefully we've heard the last of it.
That's their problem so, the thread is for discussing the podcast. Of course there will be spoilers.
Irish man speaks a handful of Irish words on an Irish podcast to a predominantly Irish audience. Disgraceful
I'm more excited for Ken's diary than the actual world cup. Looking forward to the audiobed they make out of it
It's a podcast, not the finale of Game Of Thrones.
It's not the Irish for me, more the smug delivery.
Ken running into a glass door was 100 times better then the game of thrones finale
Was there a free footie pod today (Monday)? Didn't arrive on my inbox if there was...
Football pod just turned up an hour ago.
Daily ones during World Cup & Euros usually arrive a bit after the last match finishes, as you would expect. Same with Football Weekly and Totally Football. I think.
I don't know if there's anything in the world that is 100% guaranteed to make me smile.
Apart from hearing the Littlest Hobo theme tune.
Looks like Ken choose correctly
was there a falling out/parting of ways with Sadlier? Don’t recall him being on for a while- don’t think it’s a bad thing either
presume they’ll retain his services when they want to talk about off field player welfare matters and use other people for on pitch matters. They’ll give him an outing at some time over the World Cup.
Probably busy with RTE coverage.
Delighted with the late night pods. A nice way to close out the day and move onto the next games the following morning.
Also, unlike previous championships, you know more or less when their coming out. It's one of the only plus points of this entire world cup basically being all in one city. Ken doesn't need to travel. The only downside being we're missing out on some whacky train adventure stories.
Or a flight sleeping in the arms of stan collymore
Hard to get into the World Cup podcasts so far, nothing against the guy but way too much Murph on it. He always butts in and not in a good way.
Hopefully too will not here much from Delaney also but fear we will, the world cup preview was great and showed how bad of a contributor Delaney is when you put him side by side with Wilson and Vickery
Have been working from home a bit more to watch more WC games and have found it hard to catch up on the pod without my morning commute as a result!
Fully agree about Murph butting in, it is been grating on me for a while in the podcasts and since the daily WC ones it has only gotten worse. Always seems to want to continue to talk and talk over Eoin and Ken about something that is not funny or relevant. I think he is great for GAA and some other topics but mostly seems out of place in the podcasts and is shoehorned in
He is very witty and clever, his problem is he can’t make a joke and leave it there. He has to make a follow up of the same joke and another little half follow up from that. Which means he ends up talking over Ken or Eoin.
You know that scenario where someone has said something and it’s a perfect opening for a good one liner repsonce. But then someone else jumps in and changes the subject and you’ve missed your chance for the one liner. When this happens other people, they accept the chance Is gone and move on. But he still insists on making the joke and it’s no longer really funny at that stage. If you listen for it, it happens him a lot (yes I’m very easily annoyed).
he’s a very good contributor tho, and very knowledgable on all sports.
That's exactly it. Doesn't know when to stop and ends up ruining whatever witty remark he has made by flogging it to death.
And he very often interrupts Ken and stops him mid flow. A capital punishment in my eyes. Murph out!
Great to hear Joey N'do on the pod, he's brilliant and has so much experience to share.
Ken at the end, Aaron Aardvark 😂
That last ten minutes was hilarious
Thought Ken was taking the piss when he first came back on!
Still not convinced either way.
he was operating at .75 speed and 50% dumber
If it is genuine he must have been gunning through the buds.
Murph did mention before that Ken is a no man that believes in drinking the first 4 pints as quickly as possible and then seeing where the night goes.
At first I was dubious but it seemed pretty genuine by the end. He was probably also exhausted from covering so many matches over the past week so the booze went straight to his head
