Hi Emaherx,
I have seen wireless bridge to work without line of sight, obviously at reduced performance. I just tested it out while fitting one. But it would be worth trying if easiest option, just get an over powered one, 10km.
Rebounders for all networks 20 metres from shed
Well that makes most options simpler.
If you can get line of sight wireless bridge would work, if not a 3G/4G/5G router will allow you to connect any type of camera system you like, if it's for calving use PAYG and only top it up when needed. Do you know what operators work well there?
If your Router is not working then surely you'd have no internet?
You hardly have a second router just for the cameras? But maybe you mean a switch? If so is it a POE switch or separate injectors? or POE provided from DVR/NVR. Check all of your connections and power supplies not uncommon for a PSU in a switch or POE injector to fail.
How is the POE connected in the sheds? via injectors? POE doesn't work over standard powerline adaptors.
Thanks for the reply, cameras are wired via POE.
Now I think of it I have cameras on the house as well they are wired direct to the router on the attic again via POE, but no signal from them either, maybe its a router problem as well?
We have power at outfarm. Camera would be in a shed
Depends on the hollow.
Wireless Bridge needs line of sight, if that can be achieved using poles then that is one option.
3G/4G/5G are options depending on signal and speeds available.
Do you have power on out farm? Solar is an option but some compromises may be required depending on what sort of video quality you want to achieve.
We're looking for a camera for outfarm . It's 1 mile from our home yard and our house is in a hollow if that makes any difference. We want someone to supply and fit, what are our options?
Are the tp-link av600 the right thing to be using?
No, they are not really suitable for use between buildings (and probably shouldn't be used for any permanent network anyway). They transmit over the powerlines. Any appliances/equipment with motors can really interfere with them.
A wireless bridge would be far more reliable, Nanostations are very popular and work over KM's but over 50M there are some cheaper options. Running a network cable is the most reliable option but not always practical.
Are the camera's wired network? or Wifi? or do they connect to the DVR directly with BNC video leads?
Try your smartphone in the hay shed to see if it’s getting wifi
I'm trying to fault find my camera setup, i'm receiving a "no video" feed on the dvr, i think the problem is the powerline adapter being used.
I did'nt install the system and i'm not up to date with netwoking and cameras so i'm learning as i go.
I have a pair of tp-link av600, one in the attic and one on the inside of the hayshed about 50m away, i'm thinking there must be interference between the two av600, do they transmit the signal via electrical wires or are they wireless boosters?
I've re-paired them and the wifi light is on on both the transmit and receiving end, but still no signal getting to the dvr.
I've spent a good while looking and can't seem to find better value.
The rest of my cameras are Hikvision with a Hikvision NVR and i've read reviews of other brand cameras losing some features when paired with a Hikvision NVR?
I'd probably need another 2 fixed cameras to cover the whole shed along with the two already up, think i can save on bandwidth by using a single PTZ to cover the whole shed.
Thanks for feedback, no i don't really need a mic, don't really need record function either but the 2 current fixed cameras are set to record by default and i did'nt bother to mess with them, i presume the PTZ will record the same as the fixed cameras when it's routed back to the NVR?
One question i forgot to ask, the PTZ will be mounted in the middle of the shed which is about 20 feet away for the nearest fixed camera, can i simpy unplug the fixed camera and extend the POE cable as far as the middle of the shed?
If so is this what i'm looking for? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coupler-Abrity-Ethernet-Extender-Connector-Black/dp/B08XNN76K6/ref=sr_1_11?crid=3QPDGHY1PWRZU&keywords=POE%2Bcable%2Bextender&qid=1641413425&sprefix=poe%2Bcable%2Bextender%2Caps%2C64&sr=8-11&th=1
Any issues with loss of signal when using these?
Thanks.
The only issue I see is the price of that camera, it seems very expensive for what it is
I have done. Vodafone the best of all
that looks similar to my Hikvision. Seems ok, the 100m infra red is good. Better than lights on.
Depending on layout, I'd prefer few fixed to a ptz, can be fiddley to move, my one need to use on screen arrows to move or presets, cant move by swiping across screen
Do you want sound? dont see mic
Do you want record? dont see sd card slot
Neither of which my expensive Hikvision have..
Got external mic for €60
try other networks
That should work fine. I have some of those KU-WiFi bridges, 4 of them linked.
They come as a preconfigured pair, but you should log onto them and change the passwords at a minimum as they all have Default Password: 66666666 which isn't great to broadcast your home network over 1KM in every direction with a known password.
if this is the camera https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reolink-Surveillance-Waterproof-Detection-RLC-410-5MP/dp/B07C75C47B?th=1 it looks like there is no PSU with it. You either need a 12V PSU or a POE injector or POE Switch to power it. If going with POE options they must conform to (IEEE 802.3af).
The bridges KU-WiFi Bridges are also POE but are passive 24V that conforms to no official POE standard, so only use the supplied POE injector PSU with them.
I have found the reception on my phone to be crucial. Need phone to have good 4g to connect.
Doubt it's the corrugated sheets as my camera and aerial are inside under sheeting, but I bought the Bingfu aerial so maybe that helps.
I had trouble getting reception with my reolink as well. Think the corrugated sheets were affecting the signal. Try putting the camera in the stable where you want, then go home or to a place where you phone has better reception to try it then. I had poor connection in the shed but when I came away home with my phone it works great.
Here's what I've been thinking about getting
My house has Fibre to the Home (FTTH) with speeds of over 150mbs download.
The stables where I want to errect the camera is approx 250m (at the very most) away. There is a direct line of sight to the stables with no interference.
I was thinking of getting these:
KuWFi 2-Pack 300Mbps Wireless outdoor CPE Kit,Indoor&Outdoor Point-to-Point Supports 1KM transmission distance solution for PTP, PTMP application
from Amazon for €64
My plan is to fix one on the roof of my house and the other on the roof of the stable.
I was then going to use one of these
REOLINK 5MP(2560x1920@30FPS) PoE Camera Outdoor/Indoor IP Security Video Surveillance, IP66 Waterproof, IR Night Vision, Motion Detection, Work with Smart Home, Up to 128GB Micro SD Card, RLC-410-5MP
again from amazon for €38
Do I just connect a long ethernet cable from my Eir modem to the first bridge on my house roof and then another ethernet cable from the 2nd bridge (stable) to the camera??
Will this work or do I need anything else?
Thanks
Hello
Some help please.
I have been using a Reolink Go 4g camera offsite in stables which were a couple of kms away for when mares are foaling and found it great.
This year however we are renting a stable which is much closer to the house (about 250m) I had planned on using the same Reolink camera but when I set it up today to test it the 4g coverage is very poor and I was unable to connect the camera at all. I tried positioning the camera around each wall but it was the same. My mobile phone signal is brutal here too barely getting a couple of bars.
What are my options?
Upgrading two fixed cameras in shed to 1 fixed and 1 PTZ.
I've settled on this camera for the PTZ: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VB3JLMJ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3U9Q5O0WCDPGX&psc=1
Any issues before i order?
Can confirm Reolink Go PT alarm will scare what's left of the piss out of a cat marking hay bales - yeah I know re pregnant ewes (they won't be getting this hay), no feckin door on shed!
I got 2 sets of these (4 in total) to connect different buildings to the house:
They work as a pair out of the box, but be warned every one of them is pre set with the same password, so worth logging into them and changing.
Worked brilliant last winter and was hoping same this one too, putting in ducts in the spring and will run cable then
Sods law
Sorry I misunderstood your comment, it's the power line/WiFi adapters you are using. To be honest they are a black art at the best of times. 20 yards to an outside shed is well beyond their intended use. Any change in your wiring could effect them alright, not necessarily the smart meter, a new appliance with a motor could be the culprit either, either way your reception was on a cliff edge to start with so it wouldn't take much to push It off. A wireless bridge would be a far better option or even better is to run a cable.
Deteriorating components in the WiFi plugs such as capacitors could also be the culprit and only effect it's longest range while still working over shorter distances.
Have 2 receivers (1 for office 1 for shed), both will work in the house but neither are working in the shed (20 yards), all on same circuit
Everything working well previously
No and my router is on the opposite side of the wall from the meter. Really shouldn't have any more effect than a mobile as the smart meter just has a built in 3G modem. My house / yard has a few wireless networks some in the same 2.4Ghz band as WiFi without issues.
But if you feel something is interfering you can change the WiFi band by a few Hz from your router and/ or access points.
