Purchased Pannetone in Dunnes Stores over the weekend- made by an Italian company called Muzzi who are very reputable - 750gram - 15.99- not cheap I grant you but excellent quality

Was away for the weekend and had afternoon tea. The desert part had two mince pies, not sure where they got them however were delicious. First ones of the season.
Saw them over the weekend but wasnt sure of their quality to fork out the €16, good to hear the quality is decent, will pick one up when I'm back down next weekend.
There’s different types there BTW- I got Pannetone - traditional currents and peel-but there are other Italian cakes there too so make sure you choose the correct one-
Also it was my first Pannetone so not sure what to expect or compare to- very rich, medium density, lovely amount of fruit, quite a Brioche texture

Super valu have them and nearly sure I saw them in Dunnes the other day

Had a look in Tesco for the €2.50 quality street and not a tub to be found! They must be hiding them out the back until they're back up in price. 😂
On the plus side, I got a couple of the Lindt Teddy advent calendars which are reduced down to €5.00 clubcard price and a tenner bottle of Baileys. 🙂
Aldi have the Christmas puds for 2.99 (I know Tesco have them for 2.50)
Aldi also have maple and pecan pies....just had one there. Tasty ...not omg gorgeous...but tasty , an alternative for people who don't eat mince pies (or do but have over done them)
They also have rum and caramel pies....didn't get them as I'm not a drinker and while I image there's 0% alcohol in them I wouldn't give them to the kids.
I think the Tesco €2.50 deal on puds have expired.
Oh no....I planned going there on Thursday. Tesco is abit out of the way (by a very small smidge) for me so tend to stick to dunnes and Aldi.
Just checked website.... Christmas Eve .....now if they are still in stock is a different qs.

Sort of. They have the same base ingredients... without the flaky pastry and the mess that goes with that!

Where does the best Yule log?
I've always liked the Supervalu one. They used to have a 'normal' one, last year it might only have been a Signature one. Neither in my local store yet anyway.
The signature one is good. Doesn’t come into stores til around mid December
Tesco in kilbarack have the puds and the snowmen if that's any use to you.
Giant selection boxes from Cadburys direct. They look to be full-size bars, prob a little more expensive but can't be bought anywhere else other than direct. They could be a nice gift 😁
Reminds me of the selection boxes that we would have gotten back in the 80’s, back when they were full sized, except without a mini selection box within it.
Interestingly enough I worked out one year how much it would cost to buy all those items individually and it was cheaper than what cadbury direct were selling it plus packaging
Those were the days! Really don't know why they don't do them in the shops anymore. It was the only time of year anyone ever got a curly wurly or a picnic LOL And you secretly hoped that when you were offering it around teh family to share that somebody would take the bars you didn't like best and leave the prized golden crisp for you :)
It was a proper "selection" not like now, when invariably they are 3 or 4 variants of the same bar (e.g. dairy milk, galaxy, kitkat etc)

I got that Signature Tastes yule log in SuperValu last year and had to throw most of it out. It was aaaawful. And I'm not fussy when it comes to desserts! 😄
