Never a dull moment with Yuji Naka, ey?
He should be arrested for calling himself the Sonic creator as well. He was only the programmer on the first game.
Well he managed to work miracles on the Megadrive so.
Oh he did. Amazing coder. The 3D effect in the dungeons in Phantasy Star was him and his coding of the Sonic physics was amazing.
I am still blown away by pixel art games from 80s/90s Vs horizon forbidden zzzz.

Hopefully it has a similar effect on the gaming industry as it did with the TV and Film.
Should give a decent leg up for the indie Devs and hopefully encourage the bigger ones to expand existing operations, or open up fresh here.
The entry bar of €100k is a bit steep, thought it might give me the kick in the hole to get around to learning how to make a game!
It's about 8 years too late. When I finished my game design course the Irish industry was lobbying the government to introduce it and they wouldn't. At the same time the UK industry made a massive mistake of not introducing tax breaks to the videogame industry. It was the perfect time to introduce it and poach industry and talent from the UK and the idiot politicians did not have the foresight to even consider it.
Now it's being introduced 2 years after the UK has introduced tax breaks meaning it's welcome but too late to make the massive impact it could have and the Irish industry is going to remain as minor support studios and struggling indies.
Factor into account wages and a small studio can easily cover that but it really screws up smaller devs with lack of funds which so happens to be the majority of game developers in Ireland.
Netflix are making more moves.
Oh Jesus. Great to know my increasing subscription is going to Ryan Reynolds' new mansion, the hundreds of millions spent on Knives Out 2 ... and now an effin' AAA game.
That'll end well.
Its become a bir of a weird company. They jave to keep showing growth to the markets. But do you really sign up to Netflix to play games? Ots just.something you.give a go in an airport or hospital. They will be ruined beyond all recognition in the end. I don't know why they can just be a really good TV/movie streaming service. How.abput better TV and better movies to grow your company?
But having said that, I will play any game that is good. A AAA I can stream on my Surface Pro not-a-gaming-pc-at-all device and using a subscription I'm already signed up for will do just fine. It won't help them grow their numbers but it suits me.

Bit of a niche game, but a first and new expansion pack for the greatest survival game ever created.
Splinter Cell is getting a BBC radio adaptation recorded in 3d binaural audio.

To paraphrase, a bloke overhears people talking in a bar..
Another bloke overhears people talking about overhearing people talking in a bar and gets his weekly click bait article submitted ahead of the deadline.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is a new FPS coming to PC from the makers of Squad. It'll be a co-op affair with you playing as one of 12 soldiers broken up into groups of 4. Squad was decent so will keep an eye on this.
So often these days I see news about a new game for a franchise I like and am happy until I read on and be disappointed when I see it's multiplayer only. Starship Troopers above, Evil Dead and Ghostbusters to name a few.
In other news another trailer for the Mario movie will be posted tomorrow at 10pm
I bought it way back in early early access. Played so much of the sand box that by the time the story came it almost took away from the experience that you had to go somewhere.
But now I have it in the steam deck I must give it another bash.
After Aliens Fireteam, Predator Hunting Grounds and now this, I am getting sick of seeing exciting game announcements immediately ruined by 4-player coop.
One of those IPs whose tone has kinda got a little drowned out by the exact kind of straight-faced warmongering the film was trying to satirically attack in the first place. At least from the small dip into the spin offs I've seen.
A proper videogame adaptation wouldn't be an empowering FPS game but something more subversive, no? Otherwise you're just playing as space Nazis 😂
I just want a new version of Body Harvest, I don't care if it is in a Starship Troopers skin.
Try Earth Defense Force. It's really one of the most underappreciated series out there. It looks cheap and tacky, because it is I guess, but it belies the fact that after the introduction stages it actually becomes quite tactical. There's also no other series that replicates the mayhem and wanton destruction. And to top it off it's an absolute blast in Co-op.
Just make sure to play the Sandlot developed games, the western ones and that voxel based spin-off aren't great.
That is one of those titles that I have heard plenty but don't know anything about, if it scratches the Body Harvest itch them I am very interested. Be nice if Rockstar had at least one studio dedicated to working on their back catalogue.
Come on Valve. Do it FFS.
New game from Soma dev's Frictional games:
Excited about this as Soma was an incredible piece of horror sci-fi.
Incredible story about how 2K and Firaxis granted a dying man's wish of playing Midnight Suns. Once they heard about Luke, they rushed a playable build of act 1 in 24 hours, hand delivered it to him, played with him while devs jumped on a video call from shrugs, put him in the credits as game design consultant and put his name on a tree in the HQ hub area.
Microsoft Raising Prices on New, First-Party Games Built for Xbox Series X|S to $70 in 2023
Xbox is preparing to join other major games publishers in raising the prices of its major new first-party titles from $60 to $70.
Beginning in 2023, games built for Xbox Series X|S including Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield will cost $69.99 USD at launch. While Xbox has noted that regional pricing may differ, it has not yet given specifics for other countries.
"This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN. "As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch."
