So any good black friday deals out there?
Kinda on the lookout for a pillar drill for the bit of guntering
Got nothing here, seen very few good deals this year
It's next Friday....
Thanks
Do you have a mag drill? I have one here, and it's a brilliant tool in it's own right. Drill through anything. I have a standard chuck that fits into the mag drill's chuck, and enables the use of standard bits. Once I get the mag drill set up on a piece of RSJ or something, I can use it as a pillar drill. OK, it's a bit of a compromise, and probably hasn't the capability of a good pillar drill, but perfect for occasional use.
Worth considering
A mag drill is fine but it needs to one a very plane level surface where it is magnetised completely or it can lift under pressure. I got a pillar drill recently from Lidl which is ok; one thing I can't figure out is if the chuck just fits into the spindle and relies on centrifugal force to hold it in position whilst drilling, or should there be a grub screw to tighten and hold it in? Again, it has a habit of dropping down under pressure.
ieDepot may have some good deals worth checking out for hardware items.
Normally pillar drills have tapered mandrils these lock together to create the adhesion if it is falling out put a drill in and press down on a piece of wood to lock in place
Looking out for a battery grinder if anyone saw anything for value.
Hoping to buy an automatic dosing gun for sheep around 25 to 30mls.
Any recommendations for one please.
See agri direct have a few of them but hard to know a good one from a bad one.
Tia
Find that a very good dosing gun, 20 ml is plenty big for sheep
Agree with DJ. NJ Phillips are quality.
Brexit has fcuked up buying anything on line for me. Customs in this country seem to be gone anal on us spending money abroad. Young lad was sent a baseball cap from 🇺🇸 and they wanted €17 for vat/duty. We ignored it and it got sent back.
They posted it again and it arrived, but customs wanted more the second time, haven’t paid it yet. Whelan or Neks have you any tips? PM if you prefer.
I got stung on goalposts for youngest lad last year, great black Friday deal, then wham customs, think it was 50 quid. Meant the deal wasn't a great deal anymore
Siennheiser wireless headphones in Euronics Shops if there's one near ya. Get the HD4.50BTNC noise cancelling ones for €99, they are about €40 cheaper than anywhere else including Amazon. Really nice sound, comfortable to wear while tipping about and the battery lasts 30 hours+
Black Friday is mainly a way for retailers to dump stuff that otherwise wouldn't shift.
I was looking at the Gibson online website. It has very good deals in my opinion. I'm going for the plastic nj Philips for the few sheep I have now left.
They are based in Donegal and don't do offers but what I have saw I'm impressed.
Have bought off them before, very good value compared to others online and fast delivery
I've bought off them as well, very good prices on some stuff, was beating a rep on his own bolus'
after a nice socket set with Rachet. Any suggestions other than Halfords.
Prefer the simple 30-40 piece sets that the 100 piece sets. All the sockets, a ratchet and a couple of bars/extenders etc. Don’t mind the price as long as it’s quality.
Looks to be good value:

Those 5ah batteries are normally 70 euros each
Its a very good deal, the drill is a dcd996 which is higher spec dcd796 which is normally supplied. Jebbs have same kit 429€. I'd buy that kit, then buy the bare unit from amazon for €130, it basically means you'd be getting a drill for free vs, buying a grinder and 2 battery kit.
Would them 5.0ah batteries be good enough on a half inch impact gun?
Yeah you would pay that for a bare unit DCD996 never mind two batteries, charger and case. I pulled the trigger last night and bought myself a Christmas present!!!
yes, often use 4ah.
Yep no problem, impact guns are not power hungry.
Any recommendations for a good dewalt impact wrench?
Correct, it's the grinder that's hard on batterys
Any of these pillar drills nowadays are Chinese junk imo. I picked up an old English one a few years ago probably 50 year old n perfect.
The likes of this yoke would last forever, pity 3 phase, might get single phase motor for around e200.

Dewalt have new powerstack battery now , so maybe the older 5ah are good value
