    Poll at 65/35 at 12:45.

Expect that to shift towards 50/50 in an hour as the students, rich kids, and hippies wake up.

Then back again around 2pm, as the scaldies get up. (It is tuesday after all).

Putin is a dictator. Putin should face justice at the Hague. All good Russians should work to depose Putin. Russias war in Ukraine is illegal and morally wrong.

Was that poor Mongolian woman not stabbed to death by a fella from East Wall?

And another fella stabbed to death in the area a few years ago in a row over delivery bikes or something?

Sure this it it we seem to be loading up with livestock from the scaldy superstates of each continent. Little thing called standards wouldn’t go amiss with these folk apparently concerned with such we are but on the fringes of scaldiness, there’s a veritable world of neo-scaldy to get scalded by

Scaldy nations of the world converge and unite! On scaldy Island.

Actually they probably are all vetted in that they are fully documented from birth, education, any criminal offences etc...

Do people know what vetted means?

You'd be expelled from anti racist groups for being offensive.

You think Tesco workers are Garda vetted? Lol, you should make yourself aware that they are legally precluded from vetting staff. Vetting is only processed for legitimate reasons and working in a supermarket certainly isn't one of them.

well monk what do you think is going to be the end game here of all this? What’s the result in 5 years or 10 or 20 years??

Letting every Tom Dick & Harry come in here unchecked is going to be a bloody disaster I can tell ya now.

No I don't, but they are vetted by the state by virtue of the fact their life to a point is documented.

You know normal case immigration you are vetted, for instance you likely will have trouble entering many countries with a criminal record. However if you lack any documentation whatsoever, you are essentially unvetted. No evidence for where or when you were born, your education, family, work history or criminal record.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,325 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

People are not allowed to enter just like that. If a randomer just rocks up at immigration looking to come in for a holiday or take up a job or study and they do not have permission to enter, they will be sent back.

Ireland however is a signatory to various Human Rights Conventions which it is bound by. Therefore it is obligated to accept and process applicants for International Protection. The fault lies not with being signed up to said Conventions, but in delays in processing said applicants. You solve any issues by fixing the latter. Even if Ireland decided to do something relatively unprecedented and withdraw from said conventions, those people would have access to our Courts system. The Constitution refers to citizens but its protections been found time and time again to apply to people here generally and not just actual citizens.

So flailing at the wind without understanding what leads to any predicament is a waste of time. It's like going out and shouting at the sky and calling on the government to ban rain.

You have no idea of the criminal record of any of the staff of the local supermarket, and neither do management. No supermarket seeking to have a Vetting form processed will succeed in doing so.

Better warn every freckled fair Irish maiden of the dangers. Should probably get the fascist melts down there as well to abuse them and inspect their shoes as well for good measure going by this thread.

Oh wait, they're only interested in abusing foreigners.

    *Soft soap*

    Yes

You could be right. I'm just sickened by the carry on outside that place, a baying mob screaming at people who could be completely harmless. I thought we were better than that.

I think most people would be in favour of reforming immigration laws to some extent, but the lunatics hijacking these things are dangerous and it worries me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,484 ✭✭✭✭Ush1

Forget the supermarket, this is immigration. Of course Tesco could Garda vet people, but it would only make a difference to the ones who have been documented, see how that works?

If you have a criminal record there is many things you aren't allowed to do. Own a firearm for one. Without relevant documentation there is many professions you can't get work in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,381 ✭✭✭Yurt2

Tesco cannot Garda vet staff of any nationality. Any such application would be refused on sight by the betting bureau. You can only be vetted for legitimate purposes. You have no idea what you're on about.

Nobody should be spewing bile at anybody.

There is no reason to speak or protest towards the actual migrant.

Although many of the non-UKR migrants are bogus/scammers (deliberately destroying travel documents, travelling from safe countries, etc.), I don't think there is anything to be gained by directing protest at them?

The target of the protest should be the politicians who allow the migrants to get past the airport.

One target should be Roderic O'Gorman, who seems to be practically inciting these protests by openly inviting bogus AS to come here.

What he has done is practically unbelievable, and at great cost to the taxpayer.

You clearly don't understand what unvetted means, its nothing to do with the Garda, it's to do with immigration. Your supermarket analogy demonstrates your confusion.

    No

To advocate sensible controlled migration is not “racist” nor was it ever so.

oftentimes ppl are “tarred” as “racists” to deplatform or delegitimise their opinion.

you were the one who first brought up your "stance on immigration". And now watch the goalposts shuffle away as you again dodge answering a simple question.

    What exactly is a scaldy?

    Online definition I see is...

    1. a young bird that has just fledged. "the magpie sometimes raids nests for eggs and scaldies"

Fair play to the far right if they rented that crowd. That was a lot of effort

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,484 ✭✭✭✭Ush1

Sure, there are many permutations based on your documented history. That's exactly the point, that you have one so the state has some idea about a person and their history. It's usually tax they are more interested in anyway!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,295 ✭✭✭✭Beechwoodspark

    No

Along with throwing around the “racist” insult, another 1 they use is “fascist” and “far right”.

This is thrown around like confetti when ppl are attempting to delegitimise an argument.

    People see through it now.

No I didn't. You were the one badgering asking various off topic questions about immigration trying to deflect from the topic of the post. If you're interested in my stance, it's all there on a thread still on the first page of the forum. Knock yourself out. I'm not a search engine for you to deal with your copium issue.

The actual topic of the thread: Was/is the East Wall protest racist? Yes, the protest was riddled with racist abuse and racists. You want that soft-peddled because it embarrasses you, which you won't be allowed to do.

The target of the protest should be the politicians who allow the migrants to get past the airport.

You will never solve anything, and never be happy, unless you make an attempt to understand the system as it is. You blame politicians for people getting "past the airport" when there is nothing they can do about that. Nothing. Anyone can present themselves at immigration and claim they are seeking International Protection and they have to be processed. The person sitting at the desk will not have the authority or the resources to summarily process them on the spot. Even if they could, there would have to be a right of appeal.

Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos could both land private jets at Dublin Airport tomorrow and say they wanted to claim asylum. They would have to be processed. Until you understand they system, all you are doing is creating distraction from things that might actually be done by shouting about things which cannot be changed and blaming people who cannot change them.
