Once they are pushed out Ukraine can then decide what to put on it's own boarders and how to deal with the bear.
What does that even mean?
Some are suggesting there won’t need to be peace talks. That there is no point as Putin can’t be trusted. That Ukraine can defeat Russia militarily. My point is that that won’t happen even if Ukraine takes back all its territory. There will have to be peace talks.
The only peace possible is when the aggressor is no longer able to attack.
Insurers never lose. We'll just end up footing the increases with their "natural disasters" levy.
Only peace talks I can see is when head orc is gone. Pretty sure he was around when they signed off on the Nuclear weapons.
I think once Russia is completely forced out, then yes increased defenses on the border would be necessary. Also, Ukraine will likely join NATO and this will act as a deterrent to further Russian invasions.
It's clown world, But NATO is encroaching. Kick off a war for no reason other than But NATO. Get defeated said country joins NATO Along with 2 others creating a massively extended boarder with NATO.
Can you maybe edit this some, because it doesn't make any sense. Kick of a war? Kick ofF a war? What?
Very high risk shelling of the nuclear plant. I understand the ukraines are only reacting to the Russians using the plant as cover. But its in neither sides interest for the plant to go into melt down. I read the plants safety systems was upgraded in the last decade by an a leading America company and uses US fuel rods. The Russians have been busy analysing the new technology to copy it
Sorry auto correct on a phone.
You stated that Ukr had a hu
you state that Ukr had a HUGH military build up too. Would appreciate if you could speculate why that was so if it was the case.
IT. Certainly was not to attack Russia because if it was Ukr would have done it long ago - at least #since Feb 24th last
You misunderstand the point, I think. The question was raised that when Ukraine eventually expels the last of the Russian invaders over the border, would that lead to peace or would Russia simply invade again? So in the scenario being suggested, Ukraine would be on the victorious side, not the defeated country. The question was how to secure lasting peace in that scenario.
My answer was that, yes, there would need to be increased military defenses along the border with Russia and in addition, Ukraine would probably join NATO further increasing the disincentive to invade again.
Now Russia won't like Ukraine being a member of NATO but, of course, Russia will only have itself to blame.
Oh look Kinburn again, seems to be part of a larger push across the whole of Kherson
.
For the umpteenth time - will you lift up the phone and tell Putin to go home then - he walked into Ukraine’s ‘parlour’ UNINVITED and he was not welcomed so he should fcuk off home. Your and all of-most of - our most desired outcome can be achieved in an instant AND at the stroke of a pen or a very short email
The argument that NATO expansion is the cause of the war because they tempted Ukraine out of Russias orbit is an interesting one.
Like, Russia is tempting Hungary away from the EU.....so the EU could invade Hungary and blame Russia?
Or is it just another flawed and discredited point of view?
Re a future stable position between Ru and Ukr. Once Ru has been routed from Ukr’s soverign border- including Crimea- NATO changes rules for entry -at least some of them so that Ukr can be immediately protected by NATO. It could make the Ukr provisional members under the new rules and make it a full member when it can abide by all the rules
Ru will then have the same respect for Ukr re invading it, etc, as it has for Poland, Latvia Lithuania, etc. ie it would not dare try and attack any of them
I don't think said poster is a re-reg. Rather that they likely have several profiles registered. I don't know if that is allowed or not, but when you follow these things you get a sense of how a poster writes, their opinions and how they express those opinions. Maybe it's pure co-incidence and said poster has just sprung to life in the last few days and now posting regularly having opened an account 12 months ago and been pretty dormant since. Maybe they are just like a seed, waiting for a drop of rain and the right conditions to suddenly launch themselves into the world of Russian/ Ukrainian politics & war.
“But if you take that to it’s logical conclusion, once we’ve helped Ukraine get back all its territory then we should help them push on to moscow and overthrow Putin as the only way to achieve peace”
okay, you’ve got my attention… I’m listening
😀
sounds grim for around 3-10 million people, there needs to be a respite
The elderly and infirm will suffer most and die prematurely. It will be grim for the rest of civilian society but people can also be very resilient and tough. Modern conveniences of electricity and central heating etc are modern, people managed previously without these. Even here in Ireland, when I was growing up, many houses just heated one room in winter.
Aye people tend to forget how hardy people can be Ukraine gets cold. I wager most places are well used to power outages from ice on powerlines bringing them down. They will always have a fire for backup.
Russia are phucked.
Gun looks as big as him what is he 5ft... Good enough for him anyway nice dirt nap.
Karma turning around.
The names of the special ones who were fighting for Putin's Nova Russia are increasing on the deceased list.
A while back there were two Italian right wingers and a Coriscan extremist. All fighting under the Nova Russia banner.
It's become an exercise now with extremists going to hell.
You don't have to go to Ukraine to find people who find living under Putin to be intolerant. One of the main reasons that Russians are kidnapping Ukrainian children is to make up the population shortfall within Russia itself. It has had a serious population problem for many years now, primarily because the death rate is far outstripping the birthrate, and one reason is because in Putins Russia, there is high suicide rate, plus for every 1'000 births, there are 500 abortions. This speaks volumes about life in Russia.
Well, insurance being what it is, they never really lose, just expect monstrous increases in Insurance policy's down the road. On the positive side though, Russia can forget about getting insurance for anything for many years to come. This will effectively limit the Nr of Country's they can travel to. Economically, this will be the equivalent of a large Atomic Bomb going off. Plus, while the Insurance may be trying to avoid paying out on claims (of course they are) but realistically, its been 9 months now minimum since any of these aircraft have been serviced or had any maintenance carried out, and its been reported that they are being cannibalized to keep the Russian fleet in the air. Even if they were handed back next week, each plane would need to be checked from tip to tail, a time-consuming and very expensive job.
Very appropriate music to this one-
Any thoughts on this?
she doesn't appear to be a fan of the war.
9 years to the day when Ukrainians stood up and said no more Russia with the first Maidan protests in Kiev and this sowing the seeds for putin to invade Ukraine proper 9 years later..
