Is the Blur gig the reason why AM were moved?
Both are playing malahide, why would blur playing same venue a few days cause AM to have moved it from marlay?
ultimately seems mcd didn’t feel that AM could sell out marlay. Less risk taking into 2023
Presumably the stage, fencing and all other temporary facilities get left in place in Malahide for the duration of June and is used for all the gigs there? Does the same thing happen in Marlay Park or it gets disassembled between gigs and reassembled for the next one? If it can't be left in place between gigs might that be the reason why there is a cost saving from having AM in Malahide rather than having to factor in the cost of setting up a stage and taking it down again at Marlay Park? Or maybe the stage being used for Dermot Kennedy in Marlay park isn't available on the date AM are playing?

the stages, fencing etc built for malahide and marlay are left in place for the two week run in both. Stages will be built a week or two out from the first shows. The stages/fencing do not get taken down between shows.
there is 3 days between AM and demos Kennedy. The marlay stage will be well up and ready by that point if mcd had wished for AM to play.

Any word on the LCD & Yeah Yeah Yeahs gig a couple of people mentioned a few weeks back. Still holding off on buying tickets for other gigs until that gets announced
All the big shows that are going to be announced pre Christmas will be announced in next week or so.

That makes sense, i’d be very surprised if we don’t get announcements for both Slane,(where a 2nd gig was aluded to) Croke Park (apparently booked for2 nights by an act)before mid December

Blur tix before payday coukd be tough, will it sell out? Haven't seen them and would like to. That it's a Saturday is a great help
Is there a reason that it is almost exclusively June that all the outdoor gigs happen? Very few in July or August. Bit annoying that they aren't all more spread out. Guess it comes down to Glastonbury being on around the end of June?
Depends on what promoters want/artists touring elsewhere in europe on tours later in summer. doubt glastonbury anything to do with it as many who are playing here wont be near glastonbury same year
Festival season as a whole rather than just Glastonbury, then venue availability too. Factor in costs and promoters will only rent out a venue for a period that allows them to not incur set up costs more than once. With Irelands main festival in Ireland in September, they want to capture bands touring earlier in September.
Likely other factors too, these would just be logical (to me)
Festival seasons starts in Europe in May/June usually, and I guess because we are geographically the furthest west, tours usually start/end here. That's just my guess though.
Few different factors, football season across europe rules out august for big concerts. So that really just leaves June and July every year for the massive tours.
Late July/august is historically bad for ticket sales as you it’s the main 5 or 6 weeks for sun/family holidays.
major focal point of festivals in europe begins with primavera and you have Glastonbury as other key one that bands build there festival tours around.
USA festivals mainly take place in July/august so usa bands try to be back for those after doing the europe run with glasto etc.
mcd have loaded up in June in 2022 and 2023. Malahide/marley/trinity/fairview/st Anne’s park are all overlapping each other to some extent
I wouldn't be surprised if croker is booked for more than 2 nights by one act. 10 river plate stadiums, 4 etihads in Manchester, 4 coimbra stadiums in portugal. Could easily do at least 3 or even 5, it just takes time to get approval from gaa. But maybe thats just wishful thinking

Very much so, but he keeps an extremely low profile, tours very little, and has only had 3 albums over 20 years, last time i saw him, was in Cork Opera House, in September 2019, he’s really excellent.
To be fair, I listen to their podcast and it’s very funny.
Was that gig part of sounds from a safe harbour? Hope that's happening again next year. Think his Marquee gig in 2015 got mixed reviews. Obviously still making hay of his first 2 albums so more power to him. Guess with his gigs being so infrequent there will probably be decent demand for wherever he plays. Maybe a repeat of Marquee, Iveagh Gardens and Galway big top like last time if it is in the summer so.
Yes, SFASH, a great little festival,but oddly, it was setup to run biannually, so far it has ran in ‘15, ‘17, and 2019, so hopefully will restart in ‘23.
I was at the Marquee gig in 2015 and the Opera House gig (SFASH), both great nights. I'd be interested in seeing him again. I hope SFASH returns soon too.
Yeah great festival alright! Pity there was no 21 festival with covid but usefully will be back next September
Ah I think it was only from friends I heard Marquee gig wasn't the best but could have been sound issues and fairly anecdotal I know
