Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.

Vicar Street holds under a 1/3 of what Iveagh Gardens hold so a band would need to command a way bigger crowd than one night in Vicar Street.
Well I don't recall the likes of Birdy or Fleet Foxes doing more than one night in them before they chucked them in Iveagh, and didn't they get 2 nights in Iveagh out of Fleet Foxes??
Yeah Iveagh is the sort of venue that people don't mind having 1/3 full. Back half of the venue ends up being people just sitting on the grass having pints and some music on a summers evening

Hopefully we get an Irish date from Iggy. Last time he played was with the Stooges in 2008 I think.
Sting will perform a special My Songs concert in Malahide Castle, Dublin on 28 June 2023 joined by special guests Blondie. Tickets on sale Friday at 9am.
Last time was 2007 I believe at Electric Picnic for the Stooges in Ireland, it was some gig.

First time in Iveagh Gardens for a gig this summer. Went twice in the space of a week (Fontaines & Damien Dempsey). Really enjoyed the set up and the fact your in the city centre for pints before/after. Hopefully something decent on again next year. Trinity is another good set up.

Iggy Pop was due to headline All Together Now it covid put a stop too it and he didn't stay on the bill for this year

For those of you not aware, a lot of the smaller promoters (Singular Artists, Selective Memory, Umack, Foggy Notions etc.) will offer other ticketing options alongside Ticketbastard. For example, today i bought a ticket for Shame in the Button Factory from Gigantic which was €3.25 cheaper than Ticketmaster including all fees. Singular Artists are promoting it and they have a link for both agencies on their website (as they do for most of their gigs). For gigs in Whelans you can buy online direct from the venue and save on fees. Unfortunately all Vicar Street gigs are exclusive to Ticketmaster so there's no way around that.
Basically, check who the promoter is before buying a ticket and you might save some cash as well as feel good for not using those money grabbing f*cks at Ticketbastard.
You might have more chance of getting a ticket that way too if it's a high demand show. It worked out that way for me when tickets went on sale during the summer for Robert Plant's recent Irish tour. I had the TM app open on my phone and also had TM upon on a PC browser, but neither let me near tickets. But the venue's own website got me third row seats.
Several smaller acts go onsale on TM, but also other sites, like eventbrite, its typically €5 ish cheaper on the non TM site

Living in Dublin, I always try to buy tickets directly from the venue rather than through Ticketmaster and I've recently started keeping an eye on venues who sell their own tickets such as the National Concert Hall and local theatres like the Pavilion in Dún Laoghaire and Draíocht in Blanchardstown.
Just spotted this act are Playing 3 nights in 3 Arena late next year, so its big business.
3 nights in the marquee Cork and I think 2-3 nights in sse in Belfast. Tbh don't get the hype, id easily put them in the same bracket as the 2 johnnies.

Thought I heard a radio ad saying they're doing 3 gigs in the Marquee alright but seems only 2 currently on sale. Maybe they're ready to sell a 3rd night if the 2nd sells out so I guess?
3rd Marquee night is onsale next Thursday. The fact that the first two sold out immediately, says a lot, 3 x 3arena gigs late next year, and 12 Gaiety theatre gigs next year. That must be 50,000 tickets + combined

Whats Malahide like in terms of access from city centre ? We would have to get a hotel either somewhere nearby ideally or else city centre and get marathon bus out like we did for Marla’s park
That was not a pleasant journey though !
car park last year was a nightmare and dart broke down when i went to liam gallagher few years back, ive found the bus option the easiest tbh
