Ah yes the auld "far leftie" come back 🙄
How do you see this happening, the spiraling out of control and involving other Country's? Which other Country's? If NATO got involved next Monday. how long would Russian forces in Ukraine last? Unless you think China would get involved? Or Putin pulls the nuclear trigger?
Well SF and the mad socialists arent in government! Surprised not to see Eamo on the list, and what has Ivana Bacik done to get there? Did she ask Putin for a favour to get her back in the news here?🤣
My local FG TD is not on the Russian list. I think he should complain about being refused what is a badge of honour.😁
Several explosions were reported at port of Kherson
better get used to this kherson!
There are also rumors the Kadyrovs are raping the mobilized. Saw a vid recently of two Chechens holding down a mobilized Russian and doing the job on him.
Or Putin pulls the nuclear trigger?
This is what the concern about escalation all comes back to at the end of the day.
Honestly, I don't know... all the predictions I've made about how this war would unfold have been incorrect.
But at this point I think Russia is capable of anything - their barbarism in Ukraine is evident enough that the Kremlin has moved beyond any kind of morality and decency. I watch a lot of the propaganda coming out of Russian TV, and while it can't be used as a kind of thermometer for the way the Kremlin actually thinks in private, there's something increasingly crazy about it, and coupled with the sheer mismangement of the Russian campaign, to me it feels like a kind of fatalism has set in in the Kremlin. I got burned here the last time I mentioned nuclear weapons - posters were saying I was cowering in fear to the Overlords in Russia, but instead I was thinking of that sound advice about approaching a wounded animal - they often bite in their moment of suffering. But I think a weapon of mass destruction deployed over Europe could well be one final move in the Russian playbook, and if Russia was at the receiving end of one, would the Chinese simply watch on with disinterest ? Again I don't know...
I have just seen my name here on the list...
But but I do agree with a special op name the brutality err em therein it could never be classed as a war between armies
This whole escapade is a special military operation at present, if it becomes a war then Nukes will be on the table
Also see reports that the Americans warned Zelensky to moderate his claims that the missile was from Russia. He has done that now but also says that his military advisors could tell from photos of the crater that the missile could not be Ukrainian.
I think at this stage it will be hard to get to the truth as politics has taken over.
I still think nuclear is extremely unlikely, and that Russia probably has very few viable nuclear weapons. However, if Russia does fire a nuke in an attempt to start WW3, I have a feeling that Russia would become a military target for China. China values the money from the West and knows that the West is likely to recover much quicker than Russia and is a much bigger market.
'Shur, it's their culture boss'... is what I'd expect as a considered response.
All credit to you following up on the horrors Russia is committing in Ukraine, but did you not see what was happening and think, 'nah, I can guess what's happening here...' and save yourself such a fucked up occurrence.
Because you just justified above that this situation comes about. You don't want anyone to intervene to protect these hospitals and schools or to prevent young children from going to bed in freezing cold temperatures. That they'll have to suck it up, so that things do not escalate. That is your opinion stated above?
Imagine, the Ringer is on that list. The mind boggles as to what harm he might do to the Ruskies. Last time I saw him, maybe he was unwell, but didn't look fit enough to punch his way out of a paper bag!
I'll admit, I totally forgot she was the leader of Labour - and I say that as a sometimes Labour voter. ☺️
In fairness to her, this speech from April was unequivocally pro-Ukrainian: https://labour.ie/news/2022/04/06/labour-party-leader-ivana-bacik-speech-in-response-to-president-zelensky/
Her Czech grandad was imprisoned by the Nazis and had his factories confiscated by the Communists. So he came over here and founded Waterford Glass. She's probably well versed in his personal experience of the horrors of invasion and despotism.
Let me quote Jens Stoltenberg. You may say this is a sham but that's where we differ. But please do me one favour - don't suggest I'm content with any of this because I'm not.
“The only way to implement a no-fly zone is to send NATO planes — fighter planes — into Ukrainian airspace, and then impose that no-fly zone by shooting down Russian planes,” Stoltenberg said. “If we did that, we’ll end up with something that could end in a full-fledged war in Europe involving many more countries and causing much more human suffering.”
Very unlikely for a nuclear weapon to be used. However, it is plausible that a dirty explosion could occur in or near one of the powerstations. But even that scenario wouldn't make any sense whatsoever, as nothing would be gained from it, especially if you're at the hands of prevailing winds.
Russian leadership knows the consequences of either scenario, as the conventional response against Russian assets would be devastating. And China? They've way too much money, time and effort invested in Western markets, Land and resources to escalate matters. Putin is probably aware of this, hence the desperation and horrific tactics in Ukraine. I'm actually surprised that Turkey, the second largest standing army in NATO, hasn't called Time Out and offered to mediate between Zelensky and Putin. Zelensky and his wife gave a great interview on CNN and is an excellent statesman, but needs to reign-in some of his recent statements for fear of alienating the West. He can smell victory, but I'm not so sure that Turkey or the US would support a push to take Crimea. Crimea is the absolute redline for Putin. Ukraine may well see how far they can push that line, but I'm not sure the boys in Washington want to take that risk, unless they are absolutely sure that Putin and the Kremlin leadership would fold from within.
But, as always, what do any of us really know. Pure speculation.
The WW3 / Armageddon scenario seems very unlikely. Even if a nuclear weapon of some description was detonated by the Russians, the other side are not going to respond by firing one back (the entire planet are aware that rapid escalation and tit for tat exchanges would simply cause huge destruction and billions of deaths). More likely that such a detonation would simply leave Russia more isolated than ever.
JFC that was a grim read
China says no.
Kharkiv, Kharkivska Oblast(19:13). Red Alert: aerial threat. Sirens sounding. Take cover now!
Plenty of people love watching horrendous, graphic videos for voyeuristic thrills then pretend it's in the interest of "staying informed".
Also they'd have to take out Russian ground-based radar.
But what can they further mobilise. Running out of tanks, choppers, planes Seeing more and more rusty old AK's. People being sent in with like 1 clip. Buying your own uniforms sleeping bags. If they don't get robbed off you when your turn up. The list is endless.
Not necessarily - NATO & allies could make a declaration that as of a certain time, no Russian planes or missiles may enter Ukrainian airspace. Otherwise they will be shot down. That puts it up to the Russian military to make a judgement call. NATO & allies would be acting in a defensive capacity, not launching offensive attacks on Russian planes & hardware.
Is this not essentially NATO washing their hands of Ukraine, after courting it openly with years as regards membership?
Ukraine have put up a savage effort, but losing guts of 100K troops, millions of citizens to refugees,it's entire country crippled to point evacuation of cities is openly been spoken about....
facing into trying to dislodge an Russian army, whos best troops have rested this winter, while reservists have built up reserves/defensive positions......it's difficult to see the death toll from this war remain below 600K by end next year....terrible situation for Ukraine, can't see any way out this without meaningful peace negotiations
Where we getting 100k troops. Losing as in KIA ? There would not even be that many Injured. Unless were thinking of the russian losses.
"please rescue Vald....please?"
