I think he's a legend and will go down in history as such. Zelensky has acccess to very considerable intelligence resources. Given there were two missiles, apparently, that makes it look deliberate. I think not hitting anything significant is also deliberate and this is really something aimed at disrupting the G20 meeting. Lavrov clearing out of there almost moments before also suggests all of this is very intentional.
I’m almost sure that military / intelligence channels are open between Russia and the US so I’d imagine exchanges there will differ to any public responses. This will be resolved but tensions are now escalated to a tipping point and Russia are on very dodgy ground from here on in.
apparently its a part of an S300 Ukrainian missile-SKY, dont quote me
The reaction is already predetermined, NATO definitely had a plan for this.
Probably a logical response if stray missiles are going to hit their land. But.....still..... These are dangerous times.
Lavrov leaving is a huge indicator that it was done purposely in my opinion.
They didn't say it was, they said that was a potential scenario.
Putin gets NATO involved, now he can use Nukes?
The BBC had commentary from a retired Australian general, Mick Ryan, who said he thought longer range and significant offensive weapons should be given to Ukraine and that there was no reason not to now, so hopefully Biden will agree and Atacms and other stuff will now be supplied. Flipping the bird to the G20 should be responded to. Ryan also said the greater offensive capability would serve a humanitarian function in terms of ultimately saving Ukrainian lives by letting it clear the Horde from their land more rapidly.
Depends when the 2 hit, if both at same time then most likely a miscalculation
Not likely, if that was his intention then why only fire 2 missiles ?
Impossible; the Horde denied firing missiles anywhere near the border.
One possible positive outcome might be that Russia will stop firing missiles at any Ukrainian targets in the direction of Poland or other NATO member countrys
Ah, a Polish person on the BBC says this farm is very close to where an electrical interconnector crosses the border supplying Ukraine with power from Poland. Funny coincidence given the Horde have been trying to cripple Ukraines's electricity supplies.
Not necessarily, but still a possibility, absolutely
Possibly.
Either way, if it was a miscalculation, it was a fookin stupid one and if it was some kind of Putin test, its also incredibly stoopid.
Russia has nothing to gain and everything to lose regardless of whichever option you choose.
The Poland/NATO response will be interesting to see. Is there anything beyond "raising the alert level" yet? My money is on some restrictions being dropped in terms of equipment being sent to Ukraine. Possibly longer range GMLRS, possibly even ATACMS MkI
People are saying it could have been a S-300 missile. From a bit of Googling, these only have a range of around 200km. Russia are nowhere near 200km from the site.
Unless it came from Belarus........
I wouldn't be surprised to see some F16 or equivalent donated to Ukraine
I did wonder about this. Strategic military targets only if it is the case, as would be expected from Poland.
Ah yes, but I heard someone saying NATO might decide they need all the air defences to protect themselves from any more 'accidents', so reducing or eliminating their supply to Ukraine.
NATO will do absolutely naff all, like the UN useless. This was a test, and when NATO do nothing, Putin will do worse. Poland though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them take strong action themselves. Now, where’d I put them iodine tablets we got in the post 20 years ago?
From the BBC
"But neither the US nor its Nato allies want to be drawn into a direct confrontation with Russia.
The state department said that intent would be a factor in determining next steps.
Kurt Volker, a former US special envoy for Ukraine, also told the BBC it was very important to establish whether any missile strike on Polish territory had been intentional or accidental.
Nato should demand a clear explanation from Russia, he said, and, if a missile had gone astray, take steps to make sure it wouldn’t happen again.
There was potential for mistakes on Tuesday, with Ukrainians trying to shoot down a massive barrage of Russian missiles targeting their electricity grids"
Ah they are gonna Nordstream it aren't they... Bury this story so it doesn't escalate.
Seems claims of Russian cruise missiles used in the strikes doing the rounds
Sounds like someone is trying to blame the Ukrainans
Can someone explain how Ukrainian forces shooting at these two missiles added range to these and made them go further to land in Poland?
They preformed an alerion roll followed by a loop the loop before splitting the throttles which allowed the cruise missiles to latch on to a tail wind which pushed the missles into Poland.
Simple explanation 🤣🤣😀🤣
I think it stopped them, the theory goes, going over a Polish section on the way to another part of Ukraine, through a U Bend, but flying missiles over Polish air space won’t be taken lightly either.
Now, if it was a cruise missile, we’ll zero accident.
Looking at maps, that area of Poland is extremely remote, lightly populated with tonnes of agricultural land.
If something was intercepted or it was an error what are the chances of it hitting this exact spot out in a field where two guys just happen to be working with machinery.
Quite slim, definitely much more leaning towards intentional the more I think about it.
the war is spreading too much
Looks like Article 4 it is, no doubt some will be disappointed it isn't Article 5:-
And from Jens Stoltenberg:-
