They probably used some ordnance left over from NS1 and NS2...
As usual, everyone's rushing to conclusions. Let's see in a day or two whether it looks deliberate or not
And you’re banned
The Lithuanian president says "Every inch of NATO territory must be defended" and Lithuania stands in strong solidarity with Poland.
Start of WW3?
World wars have certainly started over less. Nato have to respond in some capacity. Up for debate what that response will look like.
I think WW3 would then depend on Russias response to NATOs response. As I don't think NATOs response will be too extreme so if Russia accept it and move on, no WW3.
If Russia go all in and respond then I think it's WW3 as the domino's will be tumbling at that stage.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of deliberately attacking Poland, a Nato state."
I find this fella a bit of a **** stirrer...this village is tiny hardly a legitimate target
not excited, remorseful about the prospect of WW3, but there will be consequences, its a sliding scale of provocations
Anything where it was even accidentally possible is deliberate.
Even the inaccurate Russian missiles still hit very close, 5 miles is 5 miles.
Some retaliation is worth considering. That may just mean much more advanced systems sent to Ukraine, really step up the killing of Russians
1. Of course Zelensky will say that. He needs all the support he can get to push the Russians out. Who wouldnt?
2. Doesnt matter where they struck or even took out a beavers dam. Russia has no right to strike a NATO member even if it was by accident. It's completely wreckless on their part.
I remember about 3 years ago Syrian missiles from their AD systems landing in Cyprus. Could have been what happened here. Ukraine trying to shoot down Russian missiles.
Agree.
No way this is intentional. At worst it’s utter incompetence and I’m surprised it’s taken this long as the Russians are clearly out of their depth and have demonstrated their military incompetence on a regular basis throughout their failed invasion.
I imagine there’s panic behind the scenes in the Kremlin now but their public response will be “look over there” as usual…
NATO must be measured but strong and Poland must show restraint under the circumstances no matter how difficult that may be.
Not a legitimate target… sounds like something Russia will be all over targeting.
What does Article 4 entail, if activated?
I do believe without doubt that Russian rockets hit Ploand . Do I believe it was intended ? Noway.
Why would Putin want to antagonise NATO?
He is nearing defeat, unless of course it was intentional an he wants an excuse to start ww3, but unlikely . I feel if it was done on purpose he would of fired multiple salvos and hit closer to home like Latvia or Estonia.
NATO will retaliate by giving Ukraine fighter jets ,that is max they will do or potentially no fly zone near Poland
No. At least not till the world cup is finished, priorities first
Yes. This is true, Ukraine stopped the oil. I was mistaken. Thank you for point it out.
Interesting point made by woman getting interviewed on sky news. The missile could have been shot by Ukraine forces and veered into Poland.
Lots of reasons, test boundaries because he has nothing to lose, drag NATO involvement in to justify Russias continuing losses
When you're on a losing trend heading towards defeat you have to introduce some chaos and see what happens
No. But it will be be good cause to step up support of Ukraine even further.
No-one in the Kremlin is going, "Hey, you know how our forces are getting walloped by a Ukraine backed by NATO? Why not just confront NATO directly? What would possibly go wrong???"
BBC says there were likely 2 that hit. One is a credible accident, 2 is a message/test.
What more confirmation do you need???
The obvious measured response is NATO to close the skies in western Ukraine at least, with NATO anti air on the ground and NATO air force over western Ukraine.
Its a risk of a misunderstanding, cool heads and clear information needed to curtail ww3 for while longer
You’d like to think Russia would come out and profusely apologise for this and say it was a mistake.
They won’t of course…
That would be too logical, it's literally the off ramp they need to start negotiating too.
Let's be real, 1 missile you can somewhat explain.
But they fired 2.
We are now at the find out part, and I think the polish really want to throw down.
That message would be, "Hi, we're Russia. Our military gear is rusty, our soldiers are drunk and we have a fierce death wish."
I mean, it's possible that a second missile could be a sneaky jab, passed off as an accident, but there's no road map of escalation for Russia and it will be in no way deter Poland from supporting Ukraine. Very much the opposite, I should think.
And your point is? russki missiles landed in Poland. If they were shot down by the UA defenses, and landed in Poland then they were too close to the Polish border. Simple.
