Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
It's Sting........
Sting and Blondie 28th June Malahide castle
That's a great double bill.
Madness in Trinity July 1st.
blur playing Wembley stadium 8th July
Would Sting be good in an outdoor standing area.. He might be better suited to the 3arena
And Limerick on 30th
The Kooks playing Fairview Park on Wednesday 28th June. Seems a big enough venue for them. https://twitter.com/mcd_productions/status/1592095035054776321?t=ZHlmBiwouebwnbgsyT2bKw&s=19
Duran Duran 3Arena 7th May
Ffs had to be the same night as Bruce didn't it. I'll never get to see DD
where did u see about duran duran? wouldnt mind seeing them again, really enjoyed st annes last year
Ignore !
Saw an event page pop up on Facebook, maybe somone jumped the gun on the announcement
Vogue Williams and Joeanne McNally announced for the Marquee, Cork Saturday 27th May. Personally think these podcast gigs are a waste of a summer gig slot but apparently there's the demand for them. https://twitter.com/LATMofficial/status/1592079898046234627?t=QJSUjtO-FH4ZXHl9k0Q51g&s=19
Saw him in the Marquee last tour and he was excellent.
Was hoping he'd come back again next year but looking unlikely.
I forgot he played the marquee alomst 10 years ago. The quality of acts has really dropped off in recent years.
That tent has a large seating plan and excellent sound system though. I'm in two minds about going to malahide Castle
I felt the marquee dropped the ball in terms of standards this year. My kids, over 18!, Went to Olivia Rodrigo there in June. Sound was poor, no video screens so if you were challenged in height you were screwed, worst of all, during the concert, those in standing were left stream down to the floor, so it was dangerously packed with younger kids who should've been seated only. The security opened gates and left people jump barriers.
Go to Malahide castle!!
Go to Malahide castle.......
.....and spend 2 hours in the carpark after
Or just dont drive to the venue. Get dart to malahide and its easier to get home...
Could be an option for Musgrave Park, they are well ahead of the Marquee this year, 7 acts announced so far.
The sound in the Marque is poor.
It can vary from decent to diabolical depending on the sound engineer.
The sound this summer was definitely better than the last few years though.
The quality of acts has really dropped off in recent years.
It has.
i agree the sound can vary, but thats mainly down to the sound people with the act, i’ve had many truly outstanding sound experiences there, for several acts including: Roger Waters, Kraftwerk and many more.
standing in front of the tent columns, about half way back - centre ‘ish, standing, thats where i normally go, and i can’t recall getting dreadfully bad sound at any gig to be honest, bar one. I made the mistake of seating in the back stand, at one gig, can’t remember which one, sound was truly awful, left that seated area. and went into my usual spot, and an instant huge improvement. Appreciate some people want a seat, but the sound varies a lot for seats in the marquee.
Big enough support acts. I wouldn't travel from Donegal to see them but with the two support acts I just might!
Any idea of prices for sting/Blondie
€70
I've seen him twice at Wembley Stadium. The last time was 34 years ago though
He's done plenty of outdoor gigs over the years, and the one thing you can guarantee is it will be a very professional show.
I've already got a ticket to see him 2 days later at the Lytham Festival, with Blondie and the Kaiser Chiefs. I've seen both Sting and Blondie this year and they were both excellent
I saw something similar on Facebook yesterday morning about Duran Duran playing the 3Arena on May 7th and got excited. I checked the Ticketmaster website and it said tickets were going on sale this Friday. But then the listing disappeared a few hours later. Maybe someone jumped the gun on the announcement as you say.
Hopefully it's happening. Have seen them live numerous times and they are great.
Would you think this will be a tour? Or a real once off?
seen a poster on another thread say theyre lined up for malahide.
had debated going to wembley but £100 for standing and £150 for gold circle put me right off
Telemen playing The Button Factory in Dublin on Monday 24th April. https://twitter.com/ButtonFactory22/status/1592517815554170880?t=C9Owurc5u5MFUm6g74-GUA&s=19
The announcement interview clearly seemed to imply it was a one time thing, of course that can quickly become a UK exclusive.
