Same here inject myself. To be honest I would be a bit worried having the G6 control my pump as I've had a few sensors where the readings haven't been that accurate for whatever reason and that is after doing daily fasting calibrations. Hopefully G7 will be more accurate.
I'm still in a weird limbo where my sensors are via my LTI at the pharmacy but no letter issued to Dexcom for the transmitter so I self fund those.
Hopefully if it switches to G7? That will solve one iss for me 😉
Does anyone know how many G7 sensors you can get in a month on the LTI ?
Is it still a 10 day life span on the G7s?
I looked it up on Dexcom site and yes they say its a 10 day span with 12 hours grace
Wont be able to do the hack where you could pop the transmitter out and reuse the sensor for some additional days with the G7's.
You can buy a 3d printed tool for doing that. Maybe they realised they were losing out on revenue and that formed part of the decision to make the whole thing one unit.
If it's anything like the current ones Dexcom will replace them for free if there's any problem, so I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as it's not the last sensor of the month that dies on you.
One for those folks on here who've been moved to Dexcom G7?
Were new prescriptions issued? I'm curious as I can't see it on the LTI list so I'm assuming there is a new Core List F? The newest I can find is the April 2022 and it's not on there.
Hi folks, my younger brother was just prescribed Ozempic, he is not diabetic yet (he's pre diabetic with insulin resistance) so he won't be on LTI and we will have to pay out of pocket. His Endocrinologist's secretary advised us to shop around as the price could widely vary between different pharmacies. Anyone know where we can get the best price for it in Ireland?
I got the G7 prescription to replace a G6 I already had. I assume other G6 users are getting the same. I got the G6 originally because of seizures. If it's not everyone with the LTI book yet I can't see it being much longer. The NHS decided everyone should get sensors of some sort, Ireland can only follow.
Meanwhile in the USA:
If he needs to pay, he should just get a Drug Payment Scheme card. It will keep any monthly coat for prescription meds to a max of €80 per month.
has anybody ever has disastrous blood sugar levels when they had the HBA1C ?
how do you define disastrous? My last one in June was 70 which prompted a change in medication. haven't had one since but my daily numbers are much better than they were. Actually they are better than when my hba1c was 50.
struggling to get my daily under 11 at the min
any tips folks lol
Type 1 or 2?
My new one arrived last week and it was the G6 not the G7, sad times.
My plan is to wait until it appears on the LTI list and then ask my Pharmacist to swap. Likely to fail and will probably need a new script, but don't ask? Don't get.
type 2
well what worked for me was a change in medication. The best thing you can do is go back to your doctor.
only with him on thursday
and he didn't say anything?
nope
other than if same in jan he wants to put me on ozempic
so what was your hba1c?
on thursday it was 81
but in my defence and not an excuse , i wasnt watching myself at all tnh , ate everything i wanted
2 close suicides de-railed me for 3 months , back watching my food end bloods now
back watching my food end bloods now
but your daily readings are still over 11?
do be under 9 , but not much
And you will be refraining from all the extra food and drink (soft & alcohol) that generally flows between now and January?
Because without that level of control and better too, given your at a 9avg now? It's virtually a given that you will be put on Ozempic in January.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, many folk really do see a marked improvement on GLP-1 drugs. There is also evidence supporting concurrent weight loss with those drugs.
I haven't used Ozempic myself but I have used a similar drug in Victoza. It kept my control tight.
If memory serves? You were given diet advice on this thread when you you were diagnosed a few years back? (Apologies if I'm mistaken) but that advice still stands.
Manage carb intake, reduce sugars where you can and move more. Sounds easy when it's said like that. It's all too easy to struggle with it tho.
Good luck with whatever you do and don't be too worried about ending up on Ozempic or similar.
It's very odd I got the hse to take 3 and now I've to pay for bins in the chemist! He attends Naas so I'll go to the next appointment. Thanks
Dexcom G7 has now been added to core list F in the October update. Well it has been according to Diabetes Ireland. The October list has yet to actually be uploaded to the HSE website 🤷♀️🤦♂️
