From what I can gather, he was returned to the Russian army in a prisoner exchange (and there is no death penalty in Russia btw) but it was the Russians themselves who handed him over to the Wagner group. The Ukrainian authorities have no dealings whatsoever with the Wagner terrorist movement.
On the whole execution being discussed today, there was a very recent prisoner exchange earlier in the week,
The idea of Wagner forces snatching people randomly in Kiev when they can't even get though bakhmut, surly if they can walk into Kiev they would be better served attacking or ambushing Ukrainians rather than grabbing a former prisoner just to smash his head in .
It was mentioned on Sky News that they may have put soldiers on the peninsula.
Yes, but there is no evidence he was handed over to Wagner. Much more likely he was delivered to the Russian army - but they, being the scum that they are, then handed him over to the Wagner crowd. The Ukrainians probably assumed he would be given a hiding by the Russian army and thrown back into prison.
Also, the fact that he was / is a serving convict and murderer may well have coloured a large part of this story and made them act differently. There is no evidence whatsoever they are returning large numbers of Russian deserters to the regime.
If the Wagner group have agents on the ground in Kiev they'd hardly risk exposing themselves over such an insignificant scrote.
Dare I say, it'd be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Oh what have we got here ,
Seems there has been some kind of amphibious assault on Kinburn peninsula from the Ukrainans....
According to the Russians themselves.......
If they are indeed going to give Ukraine Scalp missiles, there's absolutely no reason not to give them ATACMS. They already have the launch platform, the training etc...
Ukraine were also using HARM missiles for months before it became public knowledge.
I understand the pushback, I don't buy the risk of them being used on Russian soil as the excuse, it's more just the boiled frog approach.
Melitopol trending on twitter, seems like it's the next big one. After that it's Mauripol. Winter of discontent coming to the Ru murdering raping scum.
The day Mariupol is freed from the uncultured russian scum will be a great day.
Am I wrong to laugh
Who thinks the Ukrainian army are 'shining white knights'? That'd be pretty naïve way of looking at it. They are fighting to drive an invading army off their land and back over the borders. I'm sure they care little at an operational level as to how many Russian military suffer in the process.
And I'd suspect Russian conscripts will be happier to take their chances surrendering, than turn and try to flee back home.
The Kremlin used to portray Vladimir Putin as "Mr Stability" here in Russia.
That's become a much harder sell.
True,we all take Putins threats with a pinch of salt
.😆
The "Shining White Knights" was more a figure of speech than an actual description of the Ukrainian army. But having said that, compared to the horror story that is the Ruzzian Army, they are shining white knight's. And for certain sure, that's how the inhabitants of Kherson, Kharkiv, Izium, Lyman and countless smaller towns and villages saw them when they were liberated. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that the Ruzzians have a completely different opinion of them, and it's far from " Shining White Knight's. Quite the opposite in fact, Demons from Hell would be nearer the mark. And rightly so.
Yes, sure the Ruzzian conscripts would be happier to surrender. But this is all being overshadowed by the incident where a surrendered Russian was handed back to the Ruzzians and suffered a gruesome death, where his brains were bashed out of his head with a sledgehammer. Until the full verified facts of this emerge, it will cast a cloud over the whole surrendering bit. Maybe what the Ruzzians wanted?
Wasn't it claimed earlier in the thread the less than 50% of people supported / weren't happy with the Ukrainans troops in liberated towns according to russian sources 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It'd be a fair operation now to get heavy equipment on to the peninsula. If it's going since yesterday and still today, though they may just be doing that.
They are within artillery and Himars range and coverage,so i guess it should be possible
Russia is to busy reatreating and building trenches, and need all their manpower for that
What's the mood like in Russia then?
not much partying on the street, not much military parades this time of year, most are deployed anyway
The guy was a convicted murderer and current long term jail inmate. He showed up in Ukraine effectively as some sort of "mercenary", not a regular soldier. From what I can see, most of the disgust today lies with the Russian Wagner crowd who killed him barbarically......definitely not with the Ukrainians.
Like I said, sending any defectors back to Rusdia is signing their death warrant and therefore breaking their word. If I was a Russian thinking of defecting I'd take my chances of being KIA rather than the certainty of having my head caved in with a hammer.
They don't really need heavy equipment over there. Just a few tricked out APCs and some drones. Let the drones survey a couple of km in advance then pick off the targets with artillery from across the bay. That way if it goes tìts up they don't lose any major equipment.
One of Prigoshins protege's (early release convicts so),,,,,,which would explain the particularly gruesome way he was murdered. And also as a deterrent to any other Wagner would be surrender candidates. In this case Prigoshin's, brutality had not quite the effect on the outside world ( even if it taints the Ukrainian somewhat, if its true) If there were any lingering doubts about Ruzzian military brutality in general, and Prigozhins Wagerer brigade in particular, this incident will blow them away.
Yeah but run in the Kremlin probably. 😂
Clearly that murder on video is designed to try and scare any potential Russian troops from deserting. I have a feeling though it will simply backfire on them - makes the Russians look like a bunch of primitive savages and no better than ISIS at their worst.
Speaking of the sledgehammer incident, has there been any comment / statement from Ukraine about it? Or Ruzzia for that matter?
Putin and his Nazi comrades have gone very quite the last few day’s.
Any word on our Russian tv wannabe Ukraine child killer lads and ladies who used to bombard us every night with threats of nuking the UK etc??
At least 3 big explosions were reported in Kharkiv
Maybe read this article to understand how complex and hard this war is for Ukrainian Authorities and they might not get everything correct.
