Car parked outside house for several weeks.

As per title, there is free parking outside our house so we are used to cars coming and going, staying for a few weeks at a time but there is one there now for 9 or 10 weeks that hasnt moved.

Its a quiet residential street.

Its documents are in order. Just wondering if there is any way to get it moved.

And yeah I know anyone can park there. Its just annoying. A first world problem.

If it's a public place without parking restrictions and the vehicle is taxed, there's not much you can do as the owner isn't doing anything illegal. (A girl regularly parks on the street outside my house for weeks at a time when she returns to Poland. I wouldn't mind but she moves her car from the front of her own house to mine when she goes away).

I lived in a house a few years back and there were two cars parked outside that never moved. Proper bangers both of them, one had a broken off mirror

One day a white van pulled up, neighbour talked to the guy in the van for a bit and then the van towed away both cars (separately)

To this day, I've no idea what transaction took place or whether the neighbour owned either of the two cars that got towed

Don't really want to know either tbh, didn't want my fingerprints over something shady and we got a parking space back so not gonna complain

Slightly more useful advice, contact the local council. A few of them have programs for getting rid of abandoned cars so they might be able to track down the owner or get rid of it

If all the discs are valid as the OP says, the council won't touch it.

While a different car every day might at least break the monotony, it is legally the exact same for a taxed vehicle to be parked there the entire time

True, and to be fair there might be a fair number of legitimate reasons the car isn't being used right now. Owner might be sick or between jobs and trying to avoid fuel expenses

Thats entirely true - but is it Dublin City Council's job to provide a free parking space for people who dont want to use their car for two months. But I suppose regardless, they do provide it, so thats life.

Yes, it is a local authority job to be providing spared public space land for vehicles (cars, bicycles, taxis waiting for jobs, trucks unloading equipment), used or otherwise. Because society works better if space is allocated for this.

Apart from the obvious answer that you are subsidising a polluting asset at a time when that obviously shouldnt be happening....

So its very questionable if it does make society better - but anyways thats by the by....

Well that's kind of up to the council, cars spend about 90% of the time parked anyway so I'm not sure there's a fair usage policy on the spaces

Even if the council won't move it, it might be worth letting them know about it now, so when whatever criteria they have for considering the car abandoned is met it's already on their list

TLAs are responsible for facilitating transport. All modes of transport.

I presume it's because her street (around the corner) is a lot busier (traffic wise) and she thinks the car will be safer beside me. Vehicles parked on her street occasionally have mirrors broken by close passing vehicles.

Councils only interested if vehicle is untaxed or unisured.Or,possibly vandalised and left in place.If,in a residential zone and no permit displayed they will decorate it with tickets but do nothing else.They allow 6 weeks to find the owner then take it away if untaxed or uninsured.
