I heard a piece on the radio during the week which stated the top co2 emitters in Ireland. Dublin airport was top. I forget what was second and I think Dublin traffic was third. There were a few concrete plants in there too.
I can’t for the life of me find that info online. Anybody remember hearing it too?

As we all expected the climate effects of methane from cattle etc have been significantly over stated
Facebook, Amazon, and Google are MASSIVE C02 emitters from data centres. Also massive greenwashers.
That is completly dependent on their power source..
I know every sector needs to be doing their bit to combat emissions but it’s always good to get some perspective. This is information I pulled from that new tool that was launched at COP27. It compares all Irish ag emissions to just one single oil field in Texas. We’re producing less than one tenth of the emissions of that one oil field. Then consider that most ag emissions are part of a circular system and that they now say they have been overstating the effect of methane from cattle, you really get the feeling that we’re getting beaten down for no good reason.
climate change is a global phenomenon, the human portion will only be affected when the largest global issues are addressed. Being disproportionately hard on the small producers is pointless.
Just on the airlines, would they know how many passengers they need on a plane to make that flight profitable? Would they cancel a flight if they didn't have enough seats sold?
Realistically will there be any curbing of air travel? Especially private jets.
Apparently 800 private jets went to Egypt to tell us to take our bike to work.
Majority of people don't care about climate change, the only remedial action we'll eventually take will be the action forced on us by expensive energy
The civil services of all the countries will enforce change on the weakest sectors of the population.

It's not aviation, it's coal fired power stations which are the problem.
Humanity needs to get away from coal, not from flying airplanes or driving cars.
Whatever about who the biggest polluter is, the question is ask is what industry captures the most carbon.
what does transport, aviation, construction, data centres etc do to help capture carbon? I would say close to zero.
Holistically managed livestock eating grass diet is the only thing that can save us.

society needs to implement a host of actions but the thing is the science has become so owned by vested interests there is so much contradictory information we’re loosing our way.

I imagine the solution will include better farming no doubt, with a focus on soil life and health. Increased forestry and biodiversity. Fossil fuel extraction must surely reduce at a sustainable pace as renewable increases, not as fast as the extremists want because we can’t kill society to save it, that won’t be accepted by the majority
Non essential plastic products are a big problem, just useless tat produced cheap one side of the globe to be shipped to the other side as a novelty gift that holds interest for 5 minutes and then we move on to discard it, tWhen you think about that and the resultant pollution it’s madness
One thing I hear from the shouters is that future generations won’t forgive us for our inaction. I think if anything they will laugh at us for letting science be owned by interest groups and lobbyists rather than having a strong independent science where the science leads and not the money.
I suppose with plastic a lot of the oil used in producing it is locked into the plastic rather than ending up in the atmosphere
methane is targeted for emissions cuts because it has a short life in the atmosphere while being more potent as a GHG. If we immediately cut methane it buys a little time to get the house in order elsewhere.

I see the science in that. But the science of testing the methane isotopes itself has particularly shown that the majority of the methane in the atmosphere comes from fracking activity and oil and gas extraction process. But we see the vested groups ignoring this and still chasing cattle as the big methane producers that need eliminating, it’s infuriating
Alos, extracting the oil and locking it up in plastics isn’t good, considering discarded plastics are causing micro plastic contamination of the food chain and god knows how that will end for us.
I won't be too worried about what the future generations think, we can't even get people to stop pegging rubbish out the car windows.
The age group that should be most worried showed their concern by the way they left the electric picnic site, most of the population won't be buying into any climate change mitigations
Don’t get me wrong plastic use is not good for the environment. But it’s not necessarily a big climate change issue.
we can argue until the cows come home about where the emissions are coming from while the meteor is still on course for collision with earth. Methane from cows is a big part of the problem no question. If we really are serious about averting disaster That has to be looked at too.
pedalling the notion that methane from cattle is a big problem is a bigger problem than the methane because other idiots believe it and society is distracted from the actual issues.
we have similar numbers of ruminating animals on the planet consistently, they seem to have become a problem at the same time vegans began their silly notions, funny coincidence
