There are many reasons why people can't vote on the day, not to mention some of the restrictions put in place on voters whilw they are exercising their right to vote. The postal vote in 2020 was so important because of all the messing about and Covid. There is a brilliant episode of Black-ish from 2020 which explains the hoops a lot of people have to go through just to vote on the day.

In theory, it'd be great if everyone could vote in person on the day but its simply not possible for a lot of people. The postal vote guarantees everyone can participate and exercise their right to vote. The reasons people come up with against this will never override that fact.

So there'll be a delay in getting the results? So what? Those elected don't start their term until January, iirc, so there's no rush. The country isn't going to come to a standstill because of it. The alternative to postal voting? Make election days a holiday and enfore decent conditions so people can vote in person comfortably and safely.

Raising the age for voting is literally taking away their right to vote. These opinions are coming from Republican voters, where are the democrats saying this? Young people and women have given Biden the best midterms since Kennedy, why would the Dems try to alienate those people?

All depends on what Trump wants to do. If he runs then i can't see DeSantis running also. He'll probably sit it out on the sidelines until 28. My gut tells me Trump's ego tells him to run and he loses badly and the MAGA voters migrate to DeSantis in 28 but hey who knows. Nobody gave Trump a hope in hell in 16 yet look what happened.

The statistics don't bear that up.

The survey by AP Votecast, reported by The Wall Street Journal, found that 49 percent of voters 65 and older voted Republican this election cycle, compared to 48 percent who voted Democrat. Those 65 and older accounted for 26 percent of total voters in the survey.

It's almost 50:50 for older voters re: Republican or Democrat.

So, this idea that the vast, vast majority of the grey vote are Republican or dyed in the wool MAGA voters, is for the birds.

Not at all but he could split the Republican vote in half if he insists on going up against DeSantis. He'll sulk if he loses and try to take his supporters with him. If he wins, the Republican vote will drop.

I can't imagine him doing it willingly, more like the Republican top brass force him to do it, like that awkward appeal for calm on the 6th of January. In the end, the Republicans are more concerned with winning elections than anything else. I think they've entertained him for so long because he has such a solid, loyal base. They won't want to jettison him until it is utterly necessary. The mid-term elections should be a sign that they need to start considering his role in the party.

The posters blamed old people for holding back the United States, inferring they were Republican diehards (which is false). That, when they "die off", then Democrat views will become more widespread.

Clearly even thinking about this shows that they see a bright future ahead - if only those old Republicans will go away. It's quite obvious that they see the future without these old people as a positive thing, that it reconfigures US politics in their favour.

I think that's a pretty horrible way to view old people; as somehow disposable old cranks that we'd all be better off without.

One thing that has struck me looking at some of the Senate & Governor races is the incredibly stark difference in voting preference between Urban and Rural voters.

Walker in Georgia for example was hitting 80%-90% of the vote in some of the smaller districts/counties whereas Warnock was getting 60%+ in the the urban areas.

You see similar patterns across all of the States

They have almost nothing in common with each other it would seem.

That's a massive societal problem for the US in general.

Herschel Walker recently denied a woman's claim that he knew her or paid for her abortion. She had a $700 cheque written by him he later had to admit he wrote - and she is the mother of 1 of his other children. He has also denied and obfuscated the existence of many of his kids describing himself as the father to an only child.
