Looks like they will abandon it. They are setting up 3 lines of defence across the Dnipro. However, they may plan to level the city to make sure Ukraine don't have a staging City counter-attack the South. If they have enough ammunition, that is.
The same friends who have assisted them in their nuclear weapons program
Reverse engineering can be so much fun as you can gain as much knowledge by understanding the original intent and the solution they found. The Iranians don't have to build an exact copy to be successful, they just need the ideas and can then make the cognative leaps. If they end up building a slower but massively cheaper smart drone with say chips out of a $25 smart phone they have been successful.
Yeah but we would have to
A believe the USA would create a massively complex piece of tech without the ability to remotely render it inert. It's not your garden verity weapons system. I understand they don't normally do this.
B It could have been a very early prototype planted to give a false sense of it's capabilities. Where the current gen is completely different.
Well, as circumstances are presently showing, these Iranian drones are punching way above their weight. Unfortunately.
No they are not drones are not a hugely new technology. I think were thinking of the small kamikaze ones that are hard to down who ever makes them. And remember the west has actually been helping via technology. Iran drones had intel chips in them.
You would think that all of these hi-tec complicated systems that the US developed would have at least self-destruct capability's built-in and could be triggered remotely.
You would but they tend not to in most of the stuff cos they sell it. Cant exactly sell it if you can turn it off no one would buy it.
In this case the rq170 was a pretty much top secret program flying around since the early to mid 2000s ,it only became public around 2007 known as the beast of khandar in Afghanistan after being photograped in Afghanistan,
Very little is actually known about the Aircraft except it isn't armed and doesn't seem to have any external cameras ,or radars of any kind.
it was used to during the bin laden operations ..
Similar to the Boeing Bird of prey demonstrater which flew in the early to late 90s much was kept secret until it was retired
interesting could be using microwave imagery or something along them lines. Recon drone anyway not a huge use in weaponization.
Possibly yes ,the Iranian version is armed with 4 small bombs or rockets ,I reckon they just copied the flying wing design just to show they could copy it , nothing about any advanced feature's
would make sense but ruin the stealth end of it. Stealth is nothing without masking energy signals and alike. Suppose it looks cool about it.
That's the most important outpost on the entire Kherson frontline. If that falls Ukraine should make further gains.
At this stage the russins must be down to their last ahem good orcs. Once they are gone should be fairly easy to rout everyone else.
Best news of the day for Ukraine is coming from the US. The Republicans were projected to take the House and Senate, but now looks like they will only take the House. The Trump candidates (anti-Ukraine) did particularly poorly, with Lauren Boebert notably losing her seat.
The risk of the US walking away from Ukraine is off the table.
The Iranian drones are so cheap to manufacture and too slow and low for most AA systems to lock easily - even if you shoot them down it costs you more money than it does them.
The west hasnt exactly been helping as those intel boards used were smuggled into the country.
It looks like there could be something to this. Lots of bridges in Kherson being reported as blown this morning. Is this the Russians covering a withdrawal?
Russian banks hacked Ukrainian hacktivists claim to leak trove of documents from Russia’s central bank - The Record by Recorded Future
Geo-location of one of the blown bridges.
Have the Russians already left Snihurivka?
It is reported that in the evening there will be some official statements on Kherson.
Against the background of the removal of flags and undermining bridges on the right bank.
Meanwhile, intense fighting continues in the Snigirevka area.
From the Russian side.
Russian source says the red boxes were bridges blown by them, they yellow boxes were bridges hit by Ukraine.
The interest one is the yellow box at the top. Are Ukraine trying to stop the Russians from retreating in an orderly manner out of Snihurivka?
I do not want to write anything about Kherson. Everything that we see from the reports of correspondents and bloggers is too obvious, but still we have to wait for official statements. I know that yesterday the army repulsed all attempts of the Ukrainian to storm the advanced positions of our troops, repulsed them with heavy losses for the enemy. The 126th brigade once again gloriously broke the Ukrainian.
I hope and hope that following the war, all the territories of the Russian Federation, and Kherson, following the results of the referendum, this is the same territory of Russia as Belgorod, will have the status of ordinary Russian cities, and not "temporarily occupied territories."
This news makes my day. So the idea of Putin hoping for a Trump victory - if he goes forward - in two years time is also practically off the table. It might be too risky for Aputin to try and holdout until then44
Russians aren't known for telling the truth.
Likely the Ukrainians are hammering them again
Yes, but I'm pretty sure that what they produce to sell, and top-secret national defense level stuff are two completely different things. So yes, I would have expected the Stealth fighter in Serbia to have been fitted with self-destruct capabilities, triggered automatically when the pilots ejected. The drone the Iranians "captured" I'm not sure about.
But you need to factor in the overall damage/ loss of life they can cause if they succeed as against the cost of shooting them down. The Israelis or whoever needs to obliterate the manu
Very interesting map, especially the yellow Snihurivka bridge at the top. But 2 bridges further south were blown by Russians according to them. I think that's their only retreat route from Snihurivka? I would also assume that Ukrainian artillery will hammer anything that tries to move along that road.
Yes, but prior to voting, both Democrats and Republicans went on TV and said that support for Ukraine against Russia would continue. And that's aside from Biden's power as President to make laws locking in US Support beyond his term. Like Trump did with the Afghan withdrawal.
It makes sense to shoot them down - the opportunity cost of letting them fly unimpeded is too much.
However regardless of what happens to them, hit or shot down, its a win for the drone as it costs magnitudes less to make than most AA missiles. And any AA missiles launched potentially exposes locations of anti-air also.
Until cheap anti-drone weapons are developed and widespread, cheap kamikaze drones like the shahed will run riot
Snihurivka area.
If true, we can expect video of Ukrainian flags being lifted in the area within the day.
