Some good wines on offer in Tesco picked up a red for tomorrowβs roasts gravy and the OH said itβs very good 17 euro down to 10 euro with your club card
Just, why?
Bounty are my favourite. π
Thankfully it's only in the UK. Love the Bountys too!!π
ETA- I've just sent my husband out to get a tub of celebrations....I have no willpower π I'll get all the Bounty as he doesn't like them π
Bountys are great! Thankfully itβs only for the U.K. (for now) hopefully it wonβt be a success for them.
I love Bountys I used to buy a bar in the shop growing up,
Went shopping. Nom!
Sensational.
Update on my personal mince pie classification: first place so far, Lidl Deluxe Butter Mince Pies. They've beaten the Supervalu ones, which have gone down in quality big time and are too "vinegary", this year. The Dunnes ones are ok only.
Dunnes chocolate and cranberry ones aren't bad, heavy going though, fair amount of eating in them.
My favourite Mince pies are generally the puf pastry ones!
I don't think I've had the Lidl ones before, but I will add them to my list for this year. My favourite are usually the M&S ones, but there's no Marks near me, so I'm always on the look out for a tasty alternative.
Lidl have a few types, I've only tried the standard "Deluxe" ones (approx β¬2.50 a box).
I'm nowhere near a M&S either, but if I find myself in Dublin this side of Christmas I'll definitely pop in.
So speaking about M&S they've struck a partnership with Applegreen meaning M&S food is coming to their garages.
The first M&S shop is set to open in Applegreen Mountgorry in a couple of weeks. 2 will be ready in time before Christmas.
I always get the Deluxe/Finest mince pies! I see them as a treat, and I just don't enjoy the non buttery ones. Mmm, my mouth is watering talking about them. I think it's time for my first mince pie of the season.
For me the Avoca ones can't be beaten, once they go on sale I'll be ensuring I pick up a couple of boxes...
I was wondering what they were doing there. Bit of strange bedfellows, a garage and high-end food!
I'm not complaining, work lunch time selections are about to get interesting....
Although my diet is f**ked if they sell the M&S cookies!!
The M&S puff pastry ones are very nice, usually a bit harder to find among the shortcrust ones but worth the rummage!
Noted all the recommendations on mince pies π
Forgot about puds @tscul32 π
Lads, the full Aldi christmas catalogue is on their website and I want everything! The power of marketing eh?!
Weβre they Dunnes dulux or similar? I remember buying two different ones last year- one box were delicious and the other was inedible-seriously that bad- so canβt remember which was which now π
Avoca scones are great but serious money per scone
Their scones are huuuge, and seriously good value in comparison to what I'm charged in some places for poor excuses for scones, as for their mince pies (which is what I was referring to), I'm happy to pay given the superior quality.
M&S are in loads of the services on the UK motorways and since Applegreen have loads of services here it doesn't sound too much of a stretch. Didn't know they were starting in Mountgorry though, not too far from me.
Ah yeah sorry I meant to add- are the mince pies as good as the scones are?
I tend to stay away from supermarket mince pies. Hate mass produced ones. Prefer local bakeries. Don't mind paying extra for fresher.
They were the Dunnes Stores Make Christmas 6 All Butter Mince Pies.

Lucky you that you have bakeries nearby!
There's an Ann's bakery near my work, I'll have to see if they do pies for the mince pie eaters in my family. π I'll have to keep an eye out for the Avoca ones too the next time I'm on Suffolk Street!
I drive by that Applegreen nearly every day so those cookies could take a hammering!
