Not really. If they were lambasted with artillery a few on the fringes might escape with the rest annihilated.
I'm only going off the social media link to this story I saw a couple of days back with almost the exact same casualties, but there was no mention in that of it just being a single helicopter and GRAD attack. The story I saw was that the new recruits were told they were being sent to Svetova a bit back from the front lines but they were actually dropped right on the front lines where the Ukrainians were expecting them and had lots of weapons lined up to attack the invaders as they were told to dig in a place that looks to have been a very poor choice of position. I don't think this was a typical combat situation but more putin wanting to plug a gap with whatever was available.
Also seen a video post I think from the Pavlivka area where some AFU soldiers were saying goodbye to their relatives as they were going to take as many russians with them as they could even though they were almost out of bullets due to the numbers of russians being sent at them. Hope they got some reinforcements before the russian made any more progress.
Regardless of what the rest of the world does, the people of Ukraine will never forgive or forget what Russia has done to them, even generations from now. Even if the current Ukrainian advances are reversed, (unlikely in the extreme) and Russian not only regains their losses, but manage to take over Ukraine, the resultant resistance will make what happened to the Russians in Afghanistan seem like a child's picnic compared to what the Ukrainian resistance will do to them in Ukraine. Bearing in mind that the Ukrainian resistance will be better armed and more experienced than the Afghans ever were. Until they are returned, the kidnapped children will be a permanent flame keeping their anger and resolve alive. In terms of Russian deaths and injuries in Afghanistan,15'000 dead and 35'000 injured. This figure has been surpassed multiple times already. What will the occupation of Ukraine cost financially? the Afghan occupation bankrupted Russia. All this talk about the US discussing peace terms etc.... all just talk, putting the US on the morally correct side of the argument, as in " we pushed hard for peace" but at the same time still supplying Ukraine with what it needs to defeat the Russian's. Actions speak louder than words. Bear in mind that a destroyed and weakened Russia (at or at least under its present management) is the desired result for the west and the US. (China and India too)
The real story of the Russian setback is in Pavlivka, not Makiivka. Numerous Russian Telegram channels are seriously pissed at what happened there, not only that, but there is numerous video/photo evidence to show the grisly outcome of the battle.
Kharkiv, Kharkivska Oblast(22:34). Red Alert: aerial threat. Sirens sounding. Take cover now!
It's bollocks. A ratio of 50 killed to 1 wounded in a single day of combat is absurd.
Around 4000 Russians dying every week...I suppose most are mobilized cannon fodder.
I just looked at the figures for 490 casualties and that is the daily number for the total AFU estimates up to the 6th of November. The first time I saw this story on social media it was a couple of days back and I think it said the incident happened on the 2nd of November and the daily figures for russian casualties from back then if I remember correctly were about 800 so could match with the estimates from that day but I think it is being reported now on russian media. Hopefully some news of this getting back to russia will help people there see what type of leader they have in putin.
Ukraine seems to be claiming that Russia had 490 casualties in total for the day so the numbers are well out.
Ah come off it.
529 dead with only 12 wounded in one day while defending a forest against a helicopter and Grad attack? Something has been lost in translation or this is just a ludicrous lie.
Fair few sources and Reddit posts reporting the same thing. Hundreds of Mobiks wiped out.
Occupation authorities (dam busters) announced mandatory evacuation in Beryslav, Kherson region. Residents should leave before 10th November
These Russian conscript lads are also becoming victims of Putin in this conflict. The bast*rd knows what he’s doing…throw poorly trained cannon fodder at the Ukrainians to use up their bullets and mentally wear them down.
No doubt there will be troops in the AFU who’ll go through PTSD for the rest of their lives for having to mow down wave after wave of these poor sods. Putin & Co. couldn’t care less so long as the end result serves them.
Someone put it very well on twitter. Before mobilisation it was like a long range match of football in the Donbass. Since it's become a close range brawl.
It feels like fighting hasn't been this intense since the battle for Mariupol except this time it feels hopeless for the Russian attackers.
Putin is one sick fucker if he keeps throwing waves of untrained Russians at these lines.
You're asking what would be the difference between a UI and the current protestant statelet?
You're either clueless or being deliberately obtuse.
Well that story is clearly bollocks.
And why aren’t they holding them to account now? What would be different? Pathetic.
Open a thread on it can’t ye, see how your opinions will be treated.
You think Nationalists are going to take revenge attacks on Protestants… ridiculous. They’ve largely been getting on fine for the last 25 years, and the nationalists have been running the place. The early 1900s called and want their bigotry back.
It can take only a single incident to set off a conflict, as in WW1. But that is only on the face of it. In real terms tensions can be building for years or decades and one incident can translate these tensions into physical conflict. There's no telling how the modern world will go because it is full of tensions of all kinds. They stormed the Capitol building last year. Who could have imagined this would happen? The world has become as unpredictable as the weather because there is too much energy in it.
The cause of wars is always symbology.
It may be dressed up as other things, but it comes down to symbols. All men have doors and buildings and altars and flagpoles.
The only difference is what sits atop them and the fight to put it there.
At the rate they are losing tanks and vehicles, they might be needing the remaining Ladas for the front line soon
Nothing childish about it. Tribalism is humanity. We Irish will be no different.
Burning effigies of Catholics and tricolours won't have a place in a UI. They'll either be burnt out or they'll be on a boat back to Scotland.
Thinking 'this time it'll be different' is whats childish and naive tbh.
There are numerous riots and mutinies happening among the Orcs protesting conditions, poor equipment but mostly is that they are not receiving their supposed sign up bonus nor high rate of pay, and that is not going down well.
Mobiks are being sent to Belarus to make preparations of bases and they are suffering wholly unsanitary conditions, leading to wholesale incapacitation due to serious illnesses and they are having to hurriedly find and send medical workers from Russia to try and deal with the situation.
In one video I might upload, an entire camp surrounds a general's tent all yelling protests about conditions and lack of pay. When said general emerges, he's clearly drunk and unsure of what to do, then clears off. The others coming out of his tent seem drunk also.
This mobilisation is a disaster, before even getting to the rate of attrition they are suffering when they get to actually being consumed by the Ukrainian meat grinder.
The Bakhmut direction is one of the hottest on the eastern front. Katsaps attack Ukrainian positions day and night in any weather. But the fighters of the 30th OMB, together with their comrades, reliably hold the defense and inflict insane losses on the enemy. ✊
If Crimea remains under Russian control into the future, it will forever be a 'pariah region' and not recognised by anyone. There was nothing legal about the way the jurisdiction came under Russian control - it was invaded by a criminal and terrorist state (the fact that a fair number of local Putin regime supporting zealots were in favour of the invasion is neither here nor there).
Blackout in Kherson after explosion at Beryslav-Kakhovka power line
Kherson is on the front line of this war
Mary Lou McDonald is openly saying 'Brits. out'. What does that mean?
There has been a lot of trouble in the south including the incendiary attack in Odesa. I think Crimea would become like the north was during the troubles. I can't see Russians being happy there, especially the ones that moved in recently. As for N. Ireland, there is still a lot of bitterness and resentment there. It is very easy for nationalists to stir up trouble. And there are plenty of people here who don't want the Brits. in Ireland. When there is resentment among the people it is easy to stir things up until it becomes conflict. This is the kind of social unease that often precedes conflict. The war in Bosnia came suddenly and as a shock to many, but there you have it...it is now getting tense again with this licence plate business in Kosovo - licence plates? starting a war? Possible.
In Donbas yes and across the stolen land bridge I'd be surprised if there were in fact "a lot" of angry Ukrainians in Crimea. Since 2014 how many resistance attacks have happened in Crimea? Genuine question. I don't recall too many if any.
I'd be willing to bet that Crimea won't be Ukrainian again after this war is over. Maybe in the future, but even then... Donbas will be another Ulster for Russia only worse and if they do keep the landbridge parts even worse again.
Ah we're getting somewhere at last and some idea of what you consider to be workable - so you say let's just forget it chaps - we'll go back to where we were in January this year and the two boyos should swallow their pride. As if it was just a drunken punch up after a few vodkas too many and they can just shake hands.
Utter tripe.
“It's like if we get a united Ireland - where will the unionists go? There'll be a lot of republicans up there doing dirty work on them.”
What drugs are you on? Are you Irish? Stop spouting infantile rubbish.
