I just landed in Birmingham this morning and used my passport card. I flew Ryanair. Hopefully I'll be fine going home on Ryanair. All I have is the card.
That's interesting. AFAIK the passport card is an internal EU thing, i.e. EU member states recognise them so there is possibly a technicality where the UK does not accept them. Perhaps they are treating all passport cards in the same way as in not accepting them for online check-in regardless of the common travel rules. I used mine this weekend travelling LHR-DUB but was checking in at the airport.
If the card doesn't work for online check-in I'll use the paper passport number, but travel with the card anyway. Never had any issues.
DUB-CLE confirmed from next May

Down at the 100 gates and looking at AA132 from Dallas. Holding at 16/34 for what must be close to an hour. Is this normal? Waiting for a stand?
They are waiting for the delayed Etihad to AUH to vacate the stand.
Should have departed 2hrs ago.
It's a regular issue during the summer season and one which won't change until new pier capacity is built as far as I can see. I really don't understand why there are not planning applications going in for more pier space now, they will take 2-3 years to build as is.
DUB-HPN
Interesting

I'd assume Shannon.
He doesn’t say Dublin though.
It’s either Dublin or Shannon. Shannon fits the desperate for anything service(“the airport we spoke to would be very HAPPY with this service”). However, if you are working off the “Long Runway” as it’s Shannon he’s actually talking about White Plains runway as it’s only a little over 6000ft long.
either way the comment is out of context as he doesn’t mention they are starting a trans Atlantic route just answering a question it seems.
The Wikipedia page on HPN also says that there is a weight limit of 120,000lb (60 tons) which, if true, would seem to debar operation of any commercial aircraft with transatlantic capability (including the A220-300 which Breeze operates).
Bergen BGO from next April:

Great news. Wideroe have a very good range of destinations in Norway. It would be great if SAS had some competition on ARN also. Their prices are ridiculous on that route.
There's been very little in the way of new European routes from Dublin (excluding Ryanair) since the pandemic. Hopefully there will be more announcements soon.
Agreed. Round trip to ARN this past July cost nearly €900 for two people. I'm paying less to get to JFK over Christmas.
94% of pre covid numbers in October
Certainly felt like it using the airport.
Have to give the DAA some credit though - things are moving to the point that you wouldn't be getting too annoyed by the waits. When you look at Schipol and others still in the shitter, you have to acknowledge they've done well to right the ship.
Yes agree good work by the DAA but you'll never hear the good news stories only the odd bad bleep blown up by the media!!!
Thinking of the 500 Rovers fans just travelled to Stockholm, most went through Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Copenhagen or Munich, even London or Liverpool. Very few I heard about went direct. Nearly all went SAS to Oslo at the start of the month, I wouldn't be rushing back on value terms...
Absolutely. They were caught out badly in the late spring / early summer by the sudden rebound in traffic, but that happened to most medium to large European airports too so its somewhat understandable. The DAA at least acknowledged the problems and made efforts to get DUB back to working order relatively quickly, unlike some of the still ongoing disasters like Schipol.
Nice to see another new route that was shelved due to pandemic get resurrected!
Delta starting Minneapolis Dublin next year daily 767-300
Interesting. Wonder whether EI will relaunch or if they won't bother now....
EI will have shown them there was a market for the route, EIs loss not announcing a restart which was mooted for next year. It’s a huge hub for Delta so I suspect EI won’t bother now.
Other new S23 planned yet to be announced routes from the ACL slot reports:
Aer Lingus: Olbia, Bergerac, Clermont-Ferrand, Montepellier, Pula
Eurowings: Salzburg
Hainan: Beijing(!)
Also UPS to Louisville.
EI have dumped Miami and Minneapolis and a few short haul. It’s only the “initial” coordination. I wouldn’t trust a lot of what it says yet. Norse has 4 daily slot pairs but no Routes.
Duplicate
Has Miami been dropped altogether or is it simply being run as a winter-only route? Seems like a smart way to utilise a spare A330 in the winter, presuming that Norse don’t launch a Dublin-Fort Lauderdale route.
Miami is winter only.
Those ACL reports are not definite by any means, but in previous years most new routes that appeared there did actually launch.
Are the ALC slot reports publicly available? Couldn’t see details on the website. Clermont-Ferrand really surprised me, usually FR would launch a route to a small airport like that, also Beijing with the current zero covid regime in China.
When you deep dive the ACL report and cross check stuff a lot of it doesn’t match up.
I wouldn’t take anything for definite. For example, in it it says TUI is doubling their slots but in the general route report the only thing it says for TUI is Verona is cancelled.
Airlines quite often request slots but don’t take them up. As VG says most new routes do actually start, but I wouldn’t bet on Hainan starting. Also it isn’t unusual for there to be more new routes. This is an initial report and there’ll be a “final” one in the next few months. But even that will come with caveats. One note in it says that airlines can still approach the DAA even outside yet final report for slots and they will use the reports to decide if there is capacity.
As a slight aside the report states that terminak capacity isn’t an issue but turnaround ability is.
