What, do you reckon, is the worst television programme to have ever hit screens?
The Lyrics Board.
Had a serious dislike for that show back in the 90s.
Agree with everyone who has mentioned any of the "reality" rubbish and would add the various shows where people pretend to be undergoing selection for the Rangers, SAS, Seals etc. If you want to be a member of a Special Forces unit, join the military and give it a go.
Became an international hit, sold to about a dozen countries from Sweden to Vietnam.
+that eegit Hector buck leppin around the place.
I loved those shows.
He went places and meet normal but also interesting people.
His one about American went from coast to coast from Georgia to California through the south and west, places Irish TV shows about America rarely go, and unlike other Irish US road trip shows he didn't go to a single Irish-American center, or Irish dancing school or meet a single Irish-American person.
The only thing remotely Irish related was his chat with the Alabama Blind Boys about their appreciation for Foster and Allen.
Nevermind the buzzcocks
Mock the week.
Any of those panel type comedies that let on they are aimed at the common man.
I honestly thought Mrs browns boys would be the first reply.
Everything the guy did in front of the camera tanked…. What you have said, plus that Gerry Ryan tonight show he did…didn’t have the nouse or the correct vehicle for his talent , who knows..
Hector seems like a nice fella but I’m just glad TVs were given mute buttons. Sweet sufferin…..
I find most reality tv shows, particularly the US ones, to be unpleasant to be around. I hate the "coming up after this ad-break" segments followed by post-ad-break "what you've just seen" segments that they use to pad out the running time. I hate when they use that emotional piano music which is the equivalent to a laugh track for sad parts.
Luckily I don't have to be around it beyond the odd bit in a waiting room somewhere.
Gogglebox would have to be up there surely? A tv show about fat, stupid people watching other basically unwatchable tv shows is probably about as bad as it can get.
jeramy kyle, springer, dr phil etc . prayiong on the weak and exploiting stupidity .
Jersey show
Dr Pimple Popper
Citizen Khan
Pugwall
That, Big Brother, Love Island and all the spinoffs/copies of these would be the worst TV shows ever created ... the massive following these have beggars belief ... I cannot stand that O'Carroll in anything ... he ruined The Van too ...
+1 .... all these reality shows are among the worst rubbish ever shown on a TV screen .... the worst thing ever invented was that Big Brother ... ever since that came onto our screens back in 1999 we have been flooded with this sort of drivel ...
Survivor/Get Me Out Of Here ... Big Brother in the jungle ..
Love Island ... Big Brother on an island ..
Ultimate Hell Week ... Big Brother in the army ..
Fittest Family ... Big Brother goes sporty ..
Just 5 examples of what are all basically the same show (Big Brother) transported to another setting ...
Have to say The Chase on this one. Seems like it's on TV every time I switch on the telly.
Amy Huberman’s Joy is really bad. Actually, she seems to get chance after chance to keep churning out rubbish.
Dr Pimple Popper is hot though, she gets a pass
Quicksilver
Leave it to Mrs O’ Brien
Lolek & Bolek
Big Bang Theory
The Chase
I've watched a lot of shyte TV over the years but I genuinely believe that the new RTE sketch show "No Worries if Not" is the worst thing I've ever seen.
"The Meaning of Life" specifically with Joe Duffy
The only good sketch show RTE ever commissioned is the Savage Eye, the rest are shockingly bad.
Buzzcocks was great in its original guise. It was always slapstick but witty, fun and funny.
Mark Lamarr
Sean Hughes
Phil Jupitus
and guests….
i read that Lamarr also produced the show…. but when he left… it got real shît real quick.
On sky now though and it’s wánk. Going 26 years, devoid of ideas…. People on are crap.
Noel Fielding who is overrated anyway is flogging a dead horse, embarrassing.
Northern Panel show with Neil Delamere about NI politics. Someone told me it was great. Managed about 10 minutes, there wasn’t even an attempt at humour. ‘TUV this, Bob McProtestant that, did you hear what Rory O’Tricolour said at the recent Ballynema district bin association meeting?’ That how I remember it anyway.
Who thought it would be a good idea? Would we make a comedy panel show in ROI about county council politics?
This is an odd one.
I'm too young to remember it critically, but I do remember Bunny Carr, the 50p questions, the set the famous "stop the lights" phrase.
What made it terrible?
What could it be compared to in the ’70s to make it one of the worst TV shows ever created?
Hey, Quicksilver was great! True story: my father won our first television (early sixties) on Hg, which we then used to watch him winning our first TV. 🤣
Yes. And they all "earn their income" with this guff.
This she hasn’t the talent, personality or gravitas to pull off a presenting gig……and she can’t act either….
If she wasn’t married to himself…. You’d wonder, you’d really wonder.
Big Brother. It launched all the rubbish reality T.V shows we have now so ye worst show ever.
In a world with Mrs Browns Boys this suggestion is preposterous.
still running in Romania if you miss it. I quite enjoyed the show and they had some decent guests on it.
