The operation to liberate Kherson will last until the end of November, said Kyrylo Budanov, head of the GUR

This is discussed in an interview with the Western edition of The Drive by the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyryl Budanov.

    - Most likely, the operation to capture Kherson will last until the end of next month. Currently, the most prepared and combat-ready Russian units are in Kherson. A large part of them are the airborne troops of the Russian Federation, the Russian special forces and the marines, that is, the most combat-capable units that Russia has. These units make up the backbone of the group, which is also strengthened by the mobilized composition, said the head of the GUR.

The answer to any questions about why Kherson is taking more time than retaking infested farm land and forests. Given the Horde's best are involved after this, it should be downhill to the border.

I didn't miss the point. You want Ukraine to give Putin what he wants; I don't. We don't agree, move on.

No, they just need to acquire nuclear weapons, and then they will have peace and security. Taiwan and Australia need to acquire them as well.

Funny how many people tell us they disagree with the war but Ukraine should surrender and negotiate occupation with Russia....

What I or anyone else says here on boards is immaterial. It's what Ukraine says. Now are they presently saying anything about peace talks? No??? Then they are not interested in having peace talks with Putin. Is Putin interested in having peace talks with Ukraine, and is asking for peace talks? Then its up to Ukraine.

True, but nothing seems to have yet convinced them of that fact.

The real goal here is to prevent them from ever doing something like this again.

Putin is actually a moron, he has validated the need for funding of weapons manufacture, funding of weapons R&D, funding of weapons deployment, etc.

No US, UK, NATO or EU hawk can now be called paranoid.

He has hardwired distrust of Russia into the psyche of many neighbouring states.

    He has expanded NATO.

He may well have destroyed Russia.

Putin is stupid beyond belief, when it mattered, REAL strategists entered the fray.

He has been royally played and I think he now knows it - that's why he appears to be crumbling (withdrawing the nuclear threat, spouting nonsense, etc.).

Yes, they will deal with it, and in such a way that neither Russia nor any other belligerent will ever think about attacking them again. And rightly so. Slave Ukraine.

    Ukrainian Intelligence brief:

Russia exported from the so-called Kherson remains of the "occupant" Potemkin buried there - British intelligence

The latest actions of the Russian occupying forces in the Kherson region may indicate their preparation for a quick escape.

Thus, the intelligence service recalls that Volodymyr Saldo, the Gauleiter of the Kherson Region appointed by Russia at first, stated that Russia illegally stole and removed from Kherson the remains of the famous Russian statesman Prince Grigory Potemkin, who occupied Ukrainian territories in the 18th century.

Lol. They sure are confident about holding onto Kherson and the rest of their stolen bits of Ukraine.

I agree with you, that's my understanding too.

I was addressing Podge's questioning of why they would involve themselves with Russian deportation of Ukrainian citizens.

Peace is more than the absence of war. Atrocity and death and crimes can happen under occupation. As many french men died under occupation as under arms.

Was peace with Hitler preferable to defeating him and freeing conquered peoples?

So no peace is not always preferable. Ukraine needs peace and safety (of NATO membership). Not a truce to allow an enemy time to rearm while they have a knife at your belly.

They announced a week or so after the explosions they had proof of who done it..... They still haven't fabricated released it yet.

I'd put it down to the usual tripe that they come up with.

    Nazis in Ukraine.

    Drug addicts running the country

    Western coup

    Biological pigeons and now mosquitos

    Dirty bomb etc....

Nice way to deflect away from the smoking accidents in Sevastopol.

There will be other idiotic Russian leaders like Putin with a point to prove. For me a red line in the negotiations would be complete acknowledgement of the sovereign state of Ukraine by Moscow (not to be trusted of course) but more importantly the right to join NATO and/or EU.

Cool heads would surely conclude that rewarding acts of violent invasion would only encourage future violence. Negotiating can proceed on the premise that there be no doubt that the Russians failed and that their people understand that the action by the Russian state caused them more pain than reward.

You didn't answer my question - only looking for an opinion, I know you're not in charge. You can be damn sure that there is a huge amount of backchanneling going on. There always is. Feelers etc. I am not saying either side is prepared to go into peace talks - I am saying I'd prefer peace to ongoing war. With a hugely favourable outcome for Ukraine of course (e.g. I doubt they get Crimea back). I am too old for the young bloodlust on this thread.

I don't know the exact circumstances of these deportations, (is it to do with Children?) but guessing here that they are from Russian occupied territories? These people are not going voluntary. Well, if the Red Cross is involved, then it's a very good thing for them, at least it's all now on record. Even if the Russians use it as publicity stunt as in " Look, the ICRC is involved, everything they do is above board."

I missed this, what's the first pic about? (that lead to the jokes like Beatrice's fascinator).

The secret to assessing such claims. Based on track record, If Russia said it it’s almost certainly not true. If someone else did it warrants consideration.

The top pic is of a cunning plan the Bellorussians devised to protect their tanks from heat seeking ordnance.

Hello WW3. Staying neutral and watching from the sidelines for the next 6 years this time around ?

The first picture shows a Belorussian tank with a bucket full of burning something attached to its barrel This is apparently meant to confuse infrared-guided anti tank weapons and prevent them from hitting the engine block of a tank. General consensus is that this is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

This is basically a continuation of the "cope cages", the metal cages mounted to the top of Russian tanks in the hope of triggering the warheads of anti-tank missiles before they hit the actual turret, which would invariably set of the munition stored there. Those cages have turned out to be effectively useless against weapons such as NLAW or Javelin.

Life is far too serious to be taken seriously!

I adore history but I am not quite sure what your point is?

Are you advocating for a never ending war? Or total Russian expulsion and then stop Or total defeat of Russia and the Ukrainian army continue all the way to Moscow (like George S Patton wanted) to topple the madman? Whats your more likely endgame?

I agree, Ukraine needs NATO membership as an outcome. Otherwise it will never be safe.

Look, I think we gathered from previous discussions that you areSwiss and we know what they did in WW2, allow the banking system, facilitate the robbery of the wealth of all the European Jews.

We also saw what happened after Chamberlain made piece with Hitler and allowed the annexation of the Sudetenland stand. We saw what happened when Hitler and Stalin agreed to split Poland. When you allow an aggressor annex sovereign territory without any justification they just come back for more later. The only way WW3 is the outcome of this is of appeasement of Russia is allowed
