or why less room than ever for students with the lack of accommodation. (BTW the students not protesting the 'Ukrainians' taking there housing, they want someone to magically pull houses for them out of their arse)
Fair play Pat. I support dense living and a push towards apartment living but he's dead right calling out the lack of everyday amenities like storage that they lack. This situation will simply not be rectified as long as bungalows and 2 story terraces in our city centres remain unbulldozed.
Developers don't give a fcuk about amenities, here's your overpriced box for living in, enjoy.
They'd never dream of living in their own **** creations.
The idea of protest is to cause disruption. No parents are going to care about the teachers on the weekend but they'll have to wake up a bit when their weekday is impacted.
It's amazing that this has to be explained every time something like this comes up.
I very nearly crashed the car about a half hour ago when Pat said the word(s) "dick pic".
What disruption is caused by a students' protest? No-one cares, they're only disadvantaging themselves ..and/or having a jolly.
As if Pat gives a sh*t about those lack of facilities, or the city centre bungalows and terraced houses clogging up the city centre. His approach to urban planning is more suburban sprawl (just keep it away from D4 and D18, of course) and "Just one more lane motorway for the Karenpanzers, I promise".
grand having different points of view on, but not sure why he keeps getting edwina curry. She makes my head hurt
Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone I dislike listening to more. An absolute head-wrecking dose / charlatan.
On with Kieran Cuddihy the other day. seems to be Newstalk's go to Tory commentator
Yeah, heard that. Ended abruptly when her dog started barking! Kieran got a good laugh out of that.
The go-to uk contrarian on Newstalk's speed dial. Head wrecking gowl.
Michael Dowling does seem to have a good grasp on running successful health care systems. Could do with listening to someone like him here
Pat attempts to poke the PC bear now.
What the hell is this nonsense? Some ad for Emirates?
Earlier in the show Pat had Liam O'Dwyer from the Red Cross.
Liam assured listeners that the Irish Red Cross addressed every single person who offer accomodation for Ukrainian refugee.
Utter Bullsh|tter.
Pat tearing the QS a new one.
If Pat is so horrified no one is wearing a mask on flights, why does he fly so often?
He mustn't be that concerned as he makes out.
And Pat's, not so subtle, enquiry as to whether employers should be encouraged to demand their workers get the booster ;)
Maybe he flies because because he doesn't fancy four days ferry/road trip out of a weeks holiday to the sun.
It's possible to fly and also wish people would wear masks and ultimately a personal risk assessment has to be made.
Anyone getting onto a flight has the same dilemma these days.
Na holidays are always optional.
If you're so worried about covid, you wouldn't get on a plane. So I don't believe those who travel are worried about covid.
They just like pretending they are.
Holidays are optional but a lot of us travel for work or family reasons.
There is nothing wrong with someone who travels by air being concerned about Covid and taking their own precautions including wearing a mask.
They may also wish that others were equally careful but of course can't make them do so.
People don't want to wear masks it seems.
So perhaps these worried people could use zoom if it's for work or family reasons. Or else move on like the rest of us.
Like I said nobody is making you wear a mask.
Why do you object to people wearing one if they want to?
Zoom is a useful tool for some cases but sometimes you have to be there.
Pat was coming at it from mandating the masks again.
Nobody cares if someone is wearing a mask. It's making them mandatory and dishing out fines for people not wearing them. That's the point.
It's clear Pat wants mandatory mask wearing back. He's as usual, completely out of touch with public opinion.
Well at least we are back on topic talking about PK.
If he thinks masks should be mandatory why shouldn't he say it?
I don't care if they are made mandatory anyway.
Like I said before we all have our positions on this and have to make our own decisions to fly or not as things are.
The only difference is PK has the platform.
Well I assumed you had listened to the segment and realised it was about mandating masks.
Masks clearly aren't popular in Ireland. Irish people don't like to wear them.
Those that continue to wear them are out of touch with the vast majority of the population. This includes Pat Kenny.
Sorry for any confusion but my original post was to point out that there is no dichotomy between flying and being concerned about Covid.
I see a sizeable minority wearing masks, they haven't gone altogether.
I went for a flu jab last week and would not get into the surgery without one.
I have to take someone to a hospital tomorrow and will have to wear one.
I use a mask on flights and in the airport.
It just doesn't bother me at all.
Recent poll showed just 4% of people wearing masks on public transport here.
I didn't realise it was that low because I don't use PT at the moment though I have used it a lot in the past.
I guess if I was travelling on public transport I'd be one of the 4% as would Pat.
