They have recently relieved a phone from some TikTokers and it held videos of executions of civilians, girls being raped, torture and so forth. This is a new one, not any of the previous ones. I can't confirm it as the reference seems to have been deleted so it's perhaps in the hands of the Ukrainian prosecutors office and they don't want the contents appearing on Russian state TV claiming the acts were commited by Ukrainians, as they recently did with previously captured evidence.

That clip last week of the Russian guy on the Russian tv show talking about the bodies being discarded in the pit was carefully crafted and aimed at western audiences.

The Russian regime has effectively declared they are at war with NATO and the EU etc. They have engaged in economic warfare and what is almost certain sabotage of infrastructure in the EU.
This is what happens in times of war, countries have to assume that citizens of the aggressor are hostile and are interned as a precaution.
If I was a Russian citizen resident in Ireland and/or other EU states, I'd be keeping an eye on flights back to the motherland. Wouldn't that be wise?

I'm very dubious of this partisan shíte myself and I speak as someone who wishes NATO could actually go in and send the Russian military packing back to their border. Of the Russians I know a couple are openly(with me) pro putin, Russia and anti Ukraine. Totally set in that and I've noticed down the years their inability to switch off that programming even when faced with clear and simple unassailable evidence against it. The shutters come down. It's like dealing with evangelical religious types. The pro Russians are alos all very religious so not a shock. The ability to hold different "Truths" and "lies" in the same mind helps there.
The rest are in the don't want to talk about it, but it's pretty clear they're very much in two minds and one is against the war, but has told me they're quiet about it around fellow Russians(and Belarusians) because there's a broad spectrum of opinion, but the Pros can be aggressive. There's also a bit of not seeing to be letting the side down. Basically it's complex and can't be reduced to moronic simplicities.
Another aspect and common in many ex pats is the vision of the Homeland(tm) as being much better than it is. With the older Russians who lived through the 90's that's understandable as things have certainly gotten better, or look to be better than when they left say 20 years ago and only go back on short breaks.
Probably fairer to say it has dropped off the radar.

The fact is the majority of people aren't engaging online about this war and would only be exposed to it if they were looking at the news, which is reporting on it less and less as time goes on. You don't get any entitlement for having the time in your day to follow this, or have an interest in it. It doesn't make you better than those who don't.

No. Russia is not strong and the people are largely poor, if you are over 25 and Russian then you will have personal experience of living off what you/family grow yourself and a hand to mouth existence, for much of Russia that is still the same.

When I was in my 20s, I and a couple others used to refuse to stand for Amhrán na bhFiann when they'd blast it out at pub closing time, as didn't care for the meaning of some of the lyrics and rhetoric of it. You'd get some funny looks! Still don't care for it, but would stand now out of simple courtesy for others. A lot of people just go along with stuff until it all collapses and then they abandon it completely.
