That’s the thing. You have to weigh up the bigger car V range etc
LFP battery what I’d like, ability to charge to 100% regularly is nice.
Range is gonna be a bit less than the current RWD M3 which I’m not so keen on.
That same ranger told me just a few days before the RWD Model Y became orderable, that it would be imminently orderable. And that it would get the subsdiy. He was right on the first count, and almost right on the second count (it took a few more weeks)
If anyone in this country has form in predicting things correctly, it's him
That plus the sudden price drop (because no more import duty?) still leads me to believe the cars will come from Germany. I predicted myself nearly 3 years ago that the Model Y by the time it would come to Ireland, would be only a few grand more than the Model 3 was then as the car would be coming from Germany (same reasoning - the then Model 3 came from the USA which also means 10% import duty for entering the EU). Can anyone find my post, I'll give you a million thanks 😁
Pinch of salt. For every story of a MIC car, there’s a MIG car.
A Ranger told me he was sure they were coming from Berlin so I guess only serves to prove that nobody inside knows exactly what’s going on.
Thanks @Nedved85, but the staff are as much in the dark as we are, in fact many Tesla enthusiasts are more knowledgeable / more up to date than Tesla staff. I would take whatever they say with a grain of salt.
Personally I don't really care where the car is coming from. I really would like the BYD blade battery though, even though it's 5kWh smaller than the CATL battery
And Tesla Berlin got the most advanced paint shop of all Tesla factories, it's possible the paint job will be better from there. That said, from what I understand the paint on the made in China cars is fine, a long way up from the paint problems the made in the USA cars used to have.
Rep in Tesla I spoke to said the RWD is definitely from China at the start. Type of battery not confirmed at present.
Ah now in fairness, when I ordered in August, the delivery date was March-June and it arrived a few weeks after I ordered 😂. @Fidoodles you can just refuse delivery if it did arrive this year....but I wouldn't turn it away based on the number on the plate.
Delivery is Feb-Mar 2023.
It’s on screen on the site as you’re looking at it. Even more clear than the spec list 🤣
🤦♂️ How did I not see that!!
The other thing on my mind is delivery date, I don't want it in 2022, I presume that won't happen if I order now?
Is the model Y on tinder now 😜
Did you “swipe” to the right?
All that tells me is that the car has a glass roof!
Nothing else.
Boop
Does it have tinted glass, heated steering wheel, electric boot opening? No mention on their website.
Yes, Yes, Yes you need to "click" on Interior Features to see more details
I have an Ioniq 5 Exec Plus 58 at the mo. Great car, and we've 16000km on it now. 7 months old.
Seriously considering a Model Y.
If I order one now, is there any danger that it will arrive in December, I don't want a 2022 reg, the website is quoting Feb / March 2023, and that would be perfect.
I have looked on the Tesla website, it's quite scant on the exact spec of the car.
🤣🤣
Yeah that's his €100 refund spent already 😂
Premier Cru Champagne 😉
I’ll have a pint of Champagne please 🤣🤣🤣
I owe you a pint am getting the deposit back after 8 months cancelled the order last Jan.

Model Y 2023 changes.
MIC cars have left with the new rear seats, new rear emergency door latches and the door cards are now black alcantarra,on both the black and white interior. So near that in mind if paying for the white interior, you get a lot less white on the new model.
Your logic is not working. The RHD LR AWD might be coming from China (the P is still coming from the USA afaik), but the RWD might very well come from Germany
The new colours are simply not available on any RWD, even the ones made in Germany
New colours not available in Ireland or UK for LR or AWD. Made in China
Correct. RWD is not available anywhere in new colours. Made on China.
Nope. New colours only available on LR AWD and P, not on RWD. I just checked the Dutch Tesla site for reference.
When you select say the AWD LR, you get the new colours:
UK and Ireland only countries in Europe not able to order the two new colours only made in Germany at present.
Seems all RHD are being made in China.
H.U.D. Is a must for me, Its brilliant for navigation, music and speed limits, whilst never taking ones eyes of the road.
I really want to change alright. Guess I need to get up to Dublin and see the white seats in person to fully make up my mind.
"Currently the Model Y standard range has a waiting time of just one to four weeks rather than several months, according to the company's website configurator. Since it takes some time for an order to be processed and a car manufactured, this means there is enough capacity at present to meet forecast demand in China without breaking a sweat."
"Tesla does not offer a standard-range Model Y in the U.S. market, as Americans would not accept a vehicle that can drive only the equivalent of 267 miles on the European WLTP test cycle. Germany does, however, and the price for the same vehicle imported out of China is €53,990 ($53,000), although a large chunk of the premium is due to the country's 19% value-added tax and import duties."
Considering anyone that ordered is being told March and even allowing 4 weeks by Sea from China. This seems to indicate that cars for Ireland will be built in Germany.
