It's all falling apart alarmingly fast for Boris Johnson across the water. How long you reckon he has left as British Prime Minister? Hours surely?
How many parties are they talking about now? I've lost count.

It says a lot about how far he has fallen that in December 2019 he led 367 MPs to a huge parliamentary majority and now less than three years later he cannot even muster the support of 27% of them to get on a leadership ticket. Thats quite a fall from grace for a populist like him.
I guess if Sunak fails to make progress in the polls (or indeed makes some progress to put the Conservatives within touching distance, but still behind) then you could see a demand for Johnson to wield his electoral magic.
So all it might take is a succession of polls in late 23/early 24 indicating that Johnson performs better than Sunak v Starmer by ~5 percentage points. I think it's all somewhat plausible.
Ever since June 2016, the Tory leadership has been a poison chalice. How many leadership contests can the party endure before admitting that they cannot effectively govern?
He's spoofing - it was obvious he was struggling badly to get to 100 backers.
Turns out there is a god. Huzzah!
So looks like the risible rishi sunak will be crowned as their PM. Awful.
Hasta la vista, baby!
That gust of wind you just heard outside....that was a collective sigh of relief coming from the UK populace!
I'd say the right wing press are gutted. They wanted Johnson as PM and don't like Sunak at all.
I think too some of the Boris supporters have just talked themselves out of a job. That SoS for NI guy has probably just got himself the sack by backing Johnson and not Sunak.
True. The papers wanted Boris. Apparently lots of dirt to come out on sunak - could be on borrowed time
If the Tory press want to push them even further in to a ditch, let them at it.
Recent history suggests that the Express/Telegraph/Mail/Sun will be claiming Rishi is the best thing ever within a week. The only right wing papers that are not going to suck up to the Tory leader regardless of who it is are the Times and the Star; and the Times often does anyway.
I can't stand Borris , a snake / rat , lieing to gullible English people about this (doomed) utopia , whilst leading them down a hole of despaie . Sadly, I dont think he is gone, waiting in the wings to get back in , but Labour should be a shoe in for next election, when the fruits of Borris lies begin to hatch.
The ToryBoys will be devastated (though they have been conspicuously absent since the quick truss to toast turnaround).
How to play up that they always wanted Rishi somehow?
They will do the same as our own resident tory boy does and ignore all their previous postings even when they are thrown in their face and change their opinion instantly to gel with whatever the new narrative is.
They really didn’t this time. Only the express. The telegraph had as many columns saying he’d be a disaster, including yesterdays lead and a pretty excoriating column from Iain Duncan Smith, than those supporting him. The Times absolutely dead against. The mail pretty neutral
If Sunak fails then there is no point in Johnson taking the job because he will just be a bigger failure.
Why wait in the wings for something you know you will fail at.
It is quite likely he is somewhat deluded as to his own capabilities
A lot of reports theres quite a bit of dirt ready to drop about Rishi not to mention the privileges committee having a look at his own party gate actions and commons statements thereof, still entirely possible the UK could be in election territory by years end and the tory party thus imploding into well deserved ignominy.
If he was deluded and had his 100 votes then why would he not run his deluded self now ?
Because then Sunak would be waiting in the long grass for him. Better to wait for Sunak to mess up or be shafted and then for Boris have a free run at it the next time. He also has those investigations coming up as well.
He was definitely at some of the parties.
And their was questions about things like his non dom status emerging the last time he was in the limelight.
I think it's just his wife is non dom right?
The 'sensible majority' of Tory MPs, know the damage another leadership change would do to the party's credibility would outweigh any temporary 'new manager bounce'. Unless Sunak messes up on a catastrophic Truss scale, and he doesn't seem like that kind of guy, they're stuck with him now for the election.
Sunak stood up in parliament and said "No Mister Speaker, I did not attend any Parties". Which would appear to be an attempt to deliberately mislead the House. This could get interesting.
Not a good look though. All signals point to tax hikes in the UK, and to leave the likes of his eye-wateringly wealthy non-dom wife untouched will leave him helplessly politically exposed.
…and we’ll probably get our resident Boards corrspondant for GB News back here to explain to all of us how wonderful the Tories are and always have been with the selection of Sunak.
He’s conspicuously absent tonight too…strange that.
mmm
No I was referring to his USA green card situation.
Good old BJ lying through his teeth.
Not a chance he had 100
Will Boris' supporters jump to Penny ? Or MP's who only supported Sunak to beat Boris ?
If so and if she doesn't stand down then she still has a chance with the membership.
