He had a certain fan base here and some weren't gone on him.
He disappeared very fast last year and now he's about to sue Twitter.
Would you have picked her up outside her school in a taxi and brought her for pints?
Suspect of?
I don’t think he denied having sex, but he did deny having sex when she was underage, a detail on which we now know he is factually correct.
Suspected of hiding behind their woke image in order to go after school kids maybe.
I suspect you are right, but being woke in public, and not in private is hardly ground breaking.
I would not trust a male feminist as far as I could throw one. But age of consent is Setout as is. The only argument is to raise that age or consider some kind of morality age between consenting adults. And 17 you are an adult as you are able to consent to sex in this respect. In others maybe not but that's the law.
All true.
What is also correct is its morally bankrupt and not a good look for a me too cheerleader to sniff after a school child.
Nothing illegal took place from what we know. Morally off the charts though.
Makes who suspect? People who are not automatically ready to demonize a 27 year old man? What an out of date view. And dangerous one.
There is nothing to defend. In case you don’t actually know, 17 year olds in Ireland are legally entitled to consent to sexual activity.
Just because you have an issue with 17 year olds being able to decide for themselves if they want to engage in sexual activity with older people, doesn’t make anyone who disagrees with you, suspect. It just makes your attitude to those people as being morally pompous/superior.
Why not?
What is your obsession with her being in school and wearing a school uniform?
Not always. As I posted earlier, if an offence occurs under S 3A (i.e. the victim is aged 17), then consent of the victim is not a defence to the charge.
General point. I'm not saying it is the case for the case being discussed her. I'm just pointing out that 17 year olds are still protected in certain circumstances. It's not just the case that once she's 17 it's no holds barred.
Whether a person can "consent" or not is irrelevant. A 14 year old can know their mind and willingly agree to whatever. The law does not consider whether the person is capable of consent or not. It is just set out that consent cannot be used as a defence for those charges.
I mentioned this. Using words like school, uniform and child to try make it as seedy as possible. Plenty 17/18 year olds go to school, and many have to wear a uniform.
Yes. I don’t disagree with anything here. I fully understand and agree with the points.
Hilarious hypocrisy since you keep using terms like "in their 20s" to conjure an image of some minor age gap, and not "man pushing 30" which is much more accurate.
Spot on hynesie.
Maybe we should describe the girl as mid teens if Mcdermott is going to be described as mid 20's.
He was in his 20s, so your point is nonsense. She was 17. As much as you want to push a narrative by using words like school and uniform, it doesn’t change anything. No hypocrisy whatsoever.
I really hope some of you posting here don’t have children if you can’t bear the thought of them having consensual sex with a partner of their choice..
Broadcaster Eoghan McDermott, who was previously the host of 2FM Breakfast as well as Junior Eurovision Eire on TG4 is making a return to broadcasting.
Eoghan had been the subject of aligations, however his accuser has since admitted through her Lawyer that a number of facts were false. She accepted she was above the age of consent when they met, that she falsely claimed McDermott fled the country as a result of the claims and that it was wrong of her to retweet unfounded allegations of sexual assault by third parties.
Eoghan hasn’t gone back to broadcasting much in Ireland since the incident, but now he is making a return to Love Island Australia. Eoghan previously was the narrator of season 1 and 2, but now he’s back for season 4.
It will be interesting to see if this helps Eoghan get his foot back in the door of Irish media. Will the Australians give Irish broadcasters the confidence to bring Eoghan back to breakfast? We’ll need to wait and see.

I think Eoghan will have lost a lot of his target audience in Ireland. He might have gained people he'd have thrown under a bus a few years ago. I do think it's funny people defending Eoghan if you looked somebody up and down he'd have wanted you cancelled nearly.
Ireland's age of consent is above world average, should be 16 IMO.
People calling this girl a child are just being ridiculous.
People are sticking to the legal definitions here to help portray this man as some dangerous predator.
She was a young person. She was not some young child incapable of understanding, knowing, making decisions. Yes, she was young, not fully emotionally matured, but she was in no way a child here to the extent that some want to portray.
This is hilarious considering there was another thread where a man admitted to sexually assaulting someone and you still demanded the evidence that he did anything wrong.
Then there was another case where a man was caught red-handed sexually assaulting someone who was unconscious and you thought he was hard done by.
Dont lecture me about my daughter when you’re here defending or downplaying the behaviour of scummy men who were tried and convicted in court.
You are a danger to women.
Why should the age of consent be reduced?
School child? What else would a child attending school be described as?
Your last sentence is a disgraceful allegation against the poster.
Ive had disgraceful allegations thrown at me in this thread so don’t stand on your high horse when you said f*ck all when that sh*t was thrown at me.
I won’t have anyone bring my parenting or my family into these discussions, not least someone who has a history of defending and downplaying sexual assaulters.
You don’t like it? Go cry about it. Everything I said that poster is factually correct.
Because people in this thread seem to like twisting what’s being said. They seem to think we have a problem with what she did and not what he did.
Its standard deflection. Now they’re saying ‘but nothing was illegal’ but yet complaining when we use the legal definition of a child.
Moaning about anything that suits them.
Because it's too high.
How dare you use terms that are accurate.
None of these discussions were in any way relatable to this one, and I stand by my opinion on those cases. Label me whatever you like, I don't even care.
Well, you really let yourself down with that last sentence. Nasty allegation/label.
I think the point being made is that whether she is school going, has left school, is in third level etc is immaterial to the fact that she was over the age of consent. The poster is just using the reference to “school” and term “sniffing around a school girl” to raise an emotive image which should have no bearing on the legality of the relationship. If the same girl at the same age was a university student, it does not conjure up the same image.
If you want an accurate term “over the age of consent” should be enough in relation to the allegations falsely made.
