Sunak's vote looks solid, Boris' supporters were mostly Truss and of Mordaunt's most went for Truss rather than Sunak last time.

Boris was toxic as you say...until they had a quick spin on Truss...it's all relative. And the electorate are simpletons that can even be persuaded to commit hara-kiri when Boris gets a good slogan going.
If Boris is willing to do a deal with Rishi what sort of deal?
Rishi has been there done that- PM is the only post he’d be interested in- so would it be, Boris takes the reins for the next 2 years and then after election and assuming they win, Rishi takes over?
I can’t see that as being something Boris would go for- he has Churchillian designs on the PM role and wants to make his mark, which means he needs time- at least one more full term including the next 2 years so that could be what, 6 or 7 years time?
I see there’s a saying out there- Boris’ numbers are not big, but they’re loud - he may not even have 100 right now.
It would be better the Torries allow Rishi to make his mark over next 2 years and hope that’s enough to beat labour - Boris had his chance and he blew it- I don’t think he’ll be able to form the type of government that’s required right now - the Rishi camp is strong and I don’t see how you could make total peace with that.
Steve Baker on Sky saying hes supporting Rishi and citing the privileges concern as the main issue because he doesn't see how Boris can get around it. If he doesn't have the ERG I don't see how he gets a nomination.
Boris supporters are down playing the privedges investigation and its potential outcome - but if Boris did get in it would likely be a whitewash anyway causing more issues and fodder for the Labour Party. UK doesn’t need that sh1te right now- they need to sort their economy and there’s the energy crisis and any potential fallout from the war in Ukraine which could flood Europe with many more millions of refugees - they should can that investigation at this stage it’s so yesterdays news considering how much has happened in the last month
They should have just chosen Sunak the first time.

The investigation absolutely needs to happen and people need to see MPs are held to account when they behave badly and break the rules. The simple solution is dont put Boris ion but as ive said about the tory party yesterday just bet on them to do the stupidest, most self interested, anti democratic and corrupt option and you will always be right.
I think its significant that they still wont tell anyone who the 100 are Boris claims to have sophy ridge even making the hilarious comparison that its basically like saying "ohh yeah i have a girlfriend she lives in another town you wouldnt know her......"
Some reports on a 'secret summit' between Sunak and BoJo. Maybe Bojo's gonna support Sunak in return for slow-walking the various investigations against him, so he can keep his MP job, write for the Torygraph, and holiday whenevs, at least until there's a GE.
Maybe Johnson isn't actually as thick as people think in all respects.
He might be happy enough to let Sunak take that job under the assumption that with the state of the system over there that he might only last in the job a few months. At which stage BoJo can step back in without really stepping on anyone's toes
I think the same thing would have happened it just would have taken longer than 6 weeks. The problem is that the Torries aren’t just one party any more, in reality they are now 2 or 3 different parties at each other’s throats. They can never form a stable government no matter who the PM is. I’m not sure a general election will even fix this mess.
They need to take a long hard look at the way they structure their elections, form their governments and choose their PMs because it’s not fit for purpose any more. Any system that promotes a 2 party, us vs them scenario is bad for democracy.

No deal - hardly surprising- Rishi has the upper hand right now- clear tangible voters behind him and no guarantee that Boris will either achieve 100 or indeed win an election with the Tory members- I’d say Rishi will get this easy.

Right, Tories have to go with whoever they pick this time for the next GE. Unless the new leader themselves does something monumentally stupid or destructive like their predecessor. Dissent within the party, trailing Labour in the polls, well that's kind of baked in at this stage...
It also suggests the relationship between Sunak and Johnson must be a pretty bad one - not much in the way of common ground between the pair.
Nobody seems to be explaining either why a disgraced and extremely controversial ex-PM should be in the running for any cabinet position under Sunak. Usually individuals like that resign their seat at the next election and leave politics for good.
Also if Johnson knows the job is so tough that he lets Sunak go in and fail then the job will be just as hard come January/February and would be on a hiding to nothing.
Sunak at least appears to have brains between his ears.
I think him getting the gig is actually the worst that can happen for Labour, Johnson being the best.

Indeed, sunak will likely calm things down however I can't see him being a strong enough leader to win in 2 years from where they are currently at.

He was about to mention Shamima Begum at one point in the middle of the chat, but stopped himself from coming out with the "because Sunak is brown" reason at that point. The host did eventually tease it out of him though and he was too daft to realise the road he was being led down... Then somehow claimed to have his beliefs twisted right after she quoted him back to himself.
Sunak is by far the best candidate the party have left. But as the caller demonstrated it will not work for the members having a non white skinned person in charge.
If she was on the ball, she might have pointed out that BoJo was born in the US and has (or at least had) US citizenship
