Need these guys
It's pretty depressing to see history repeating itself.
My grandmother had to flee Russian invasion in 1940, and the part of the country where she used to live is now a part of Russia. At least they didn't do fake referendums.
Daly basically just gives the same speech every time and it gets lapped up and amplified by pro-Russian social media.
I don’t think 1 minute and 17 seconds of soundbite whataboutary counts as something that “needs to be said”. Condemn Russia’s illegal aggression against Ukraine and act to stop it, or don’t and be happy to let it happen.
As for “triggered”, another meaningless internet accusation that has no place if one is interested in open discourse.
"Ukraine in a suicidal holy crusade against Russia"
On the bright side, If she loses her seat, she'll have a gold-plated job in the Russian ministry of defense.
Bonus: If China invades Taiwan, she can use all the same speeches
As for that "hell of a lot of people" suffering, that's on putin and his minions. If Mother Russia hadn't started this war, towns wouldn't be rubble, millions wouldn't be displaced and tens of thousands wouldn't be dead or injured, Russians included. There is no spin or bullshít on any side that can escape that clear fact.
I can completely understand why many people want to ignore any greater nuance or complexity regarding this Wibbs. But to have any hope of not just ending this conflict, but also preventing future ones, we really owe it to ourselves to at least try to gain some deeper understanding of the various factors that have contributed to what we're witnessing today. There is a confluence of issues, that have played their part in one manner or another, to bring us to this unfortunate point.
You can label this approach as "spin" if you wish, but there's plenty of people throughout the world who don't see it that way.
This interview with Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, is well worth a watch in that regard. He has quite a wealth of knowledge and experience on many of these factors.
"Is there a way I can use history like lego to blame the West for all this"
As for the video DemocracyNow is fringe stuff. Not the worst, but often up to it's neck in waffle. Sachs is a bit of a loon:
"Sachs has repeated COVID-19 disinformation by China by stating publicly that COVID-19 came out of "US lab biotechnology". While Sachs has leanings toward the possibility of a virus leak from a "U.S.-backed laboratory research program", he has stated "A natural spillover is also possible, of course. Both hypotheses are viable at this stage".[48]
In August 2022 Sachs appeared on the podcast of anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. where he accused officials like Anthony Fauci of "not being honest” about the origins of COVID.[49] He received criticism for comparing vaccine mandates to the Holocaust on the podcast.[50]
Sachs was the chair of The Lancet 's COVID-19 Commission.[51][52] In September 2022 a panel assembled by The Lancet published a wide-ranging report on the pandemic, including commentary on the virus origin overseen by Sachs. This suggested that the virus may have originated from an American laboratory, a notion long promoted by Sachs. Reacting to this, virologist Angela Rasmussen commented that this may have been "one of The Lancet's most shameful moments regarding its role as a steward and leader in communicating crucial findings about science and medicine".[53] Virologist David Robertson said the suggestion of US laboratory involvement was "wild speculation" and that "it's really disappointing to see such a potentially influential report contributing to further misinformation on such an important topic".[53]"
What a dose. Convenient how these speeches always drag up Western mistakes from decades ago yet fail to acknowledge that this war is all due to one nations aggression to its peaceful and sovereign neighbour. Peace talks my arse, Russia needs to go the way of NK, unless there is a major change at the top hierarchy, there is no place for them in a modern world.
If that was his plan all along that's pretty incredible.
10 Iranians who were training Russian soldiers were killed in Ukrainian strikes in the Russia-Ukraine war in the past week, a Ukrainian official told KAN news on Friday.
The report comes as American and Ukrainian officials warn that Iranians are training Russians to use Iranian drones in Crimea.
source
I see the Iranians will find it slightly harder to kill Ukrainians than teenage schoolgirls.
Russians and Yanks just had a chat about Ukraine for the first time since early May. Possibly another sign Russia is gradually, possibly rethinking things.
Clare daly is a master at sounding passionate and concerned on issues that she has zero understanding of. She's Steve Bannon without (I think) the penis. A complete chancer.
She's also a complete cnut.
She is damaging Irelands reputation abroad.
My answer is to go straight to DefCon 3 and deploy your Ignore List.
Your brain will thank you.
Gepard vs Shahed
Der Gepardkommandant on Twitter: "Some asked if a #Gepard can find and track #Shahed-136 because of the small profile. For example, in this video you can see the size of a target drone and towed bag. The profile of the drone is about the size of a Shahed. The towed bag from the front has a very small profile. https://t.co/zmp12Nbx5N" / Twitter
In living memory that part of the world remembers slaves.
Oh ffs.. Let Clare Daly say, defend them in that it's their culture.
This is Rwanda genocide playing before our eyes and everyone saying nothing can be done to end these mofo's lives because of the bomb or there's someone worse than the mofo if they do BS.
has Russia become just a larger version of North Korea but with a slightly freer press/media ?
At least the TV channels in both countries don't seem to talk about anything else except missiles and rockets.
LOL
She's some f**king dose. I've a suggestion for Clare - take herself off on a peace mission to the Kremlin and get them to give up their evil ways. She won't come back.
Can whatevers going to happen in Kherson hurry up and happen already.
The South African Russian Embassy really needs to double down on their propaganda skills, now appealing to Star Wars fans:-
Clearly the propagandists have been 'mobilised' to the front lines. The quality is getting worse and worse.
Nah, the quality started out as drivel and remains as drivel. Absolutely nothing new, just the same old rubbish.
I was referencing the embassy's ludicrous post. The quality of the propaganda on this site's never been great, looking back over the archives.
Looks like the Ukraine offensive has ground to a complete halt and Russia now starting to make small gains in the north.
I think they only take Kherson if Russia has decided it's not worth them being on that side of the river and will abandon it anyway.
Things could swing extremely fast. I'd be surprised if there was not a significant retake of territory by Russia in the next couple of weeks.
I also think an attack from Russian forces in Belarus could be devastating. It would stretch Ukrainian army extremely thin. Belarus denies this but they are collaborators and those Russian ground forces aren't there idle for no reason.
The trick here for the Ukrainians is knowing just beforehand when the turning point is and going for negotiations.
No point making signals when Russian troops are outside Kiev. Too late then...
Wow you really have great insight into whats about to happen in Ukraine.
I wonder is their anyone from the Ukranian government who may read your post? Maybe they might be able to relay this vital information to the powers that be so they can avoid this impeding defeat and quickly negotiate some kind of surrender to Russia....
I like to think I deal in reality, not make believe. As appalling, incompetent and obscene the Russians are I think they will win this war if Ukraine does not agree to enter negotiations before they start being driven back severely.
I don't want to see that. I'd hope they would make that decision before the Russian offensive, not after it.
