It's all falling apart alarmingly fast for Boris Johnson across the water. How long you reckon he has left as British Prime Minister? Hours surely?
How many parties are they talking about now? I've lost count.

Boris did nothing in his last months in power yet he still seems to be popular. Just having charisma gets you half way to leadership nowadays.
I can imagine loads of the ministers who resigned under him rejoining the cabinet, a real low for British Politics.
I see another battle on the NIP too, depressing.
By what metric is he popular?
Not seeing that. Sunak still appears to be favourite. Paddy Power have it 8/11 vs 13/8 with him and Johnson
Also, the BBC have a running total of declarations.
Currently it's:
I've seen some very inflated numbers for Johnson but those don't appear to be publicly made at this point anyway.
Of course, that means that the vast majority of MPs are still unpledged (249 MPs by my calculations)
Jenkin is a snake, dont think Costa is much better tbh, there's a great recording of Ian Hislop and his Private Eye Editors basically tearing them down during their own committee hearing
Tell you what, why don't you listen to the people that have, and stop sounding like another gullible idiot.
He is not popular. He was booted because he had tanked in the polls. He is only popular now with a bunch of wacko MPs and Tory members who have reimagined his reign as some sort of perfect sunny uplands.
What we are seeing is his popularity amongst a very very small group of people.
Ok so you haven't met Boris in person. But you say he is a horrible person. Grand.
He probably wouldn't stand in Uxbridge if there was a recall election ("respecting the decision of the people of that constituency") that polling suggested he might lose.
There would instead be a by-election in another safe seat on the same day (some long serving MP conveniently retiring to spend more time with his hedge fund) which he would contest, and this way he could seamlessly continue as PM. It wouldn't even be in the Top 20 tricks that have been pulled in this parliament.
No, I'm not.
Boris Johnson deliberately misled parliament, this is undeniable. The investigation into this can only have one credible outcome, which will mean Johnson having to face a by-election. An untenable position for any PM.
The thing about Johnson is he doesn't learn from his mistakes, think back to the Owen Paterson fiasco, if he tries to whip the tory MP's into voting against his suspension the stink that would cause would be enough to force a general election.
He has two years to chase the labour lead. He will have all the right wing press on his side to excuse all his mistakes that made him unpopular a few months ago. I think the public may be lead to re elect him.
Humour. Glad to see the downfall parody team is keeping up.
All those things didn't save him before.
Turning it around will take hard work and Johnson doesn't do hard work.
Market has changed yet again in the last hour - Johnson was around 10/11/ Evs / 11/10 at 2pm.
The 2019 election was all about Brexit. It was a vote against Corbyn as much as anything. There might be a few clowns in the conservative party that still see Johnson as a politician, but I would imagine the vast majority of Brits see through his nonsense spiel at this stage.
If not I have real sympathy for the decent intelligent people living in the UK.
EVERYBODY says he's a horrible person except for a small number of other horrible people.
His popularity among voters in general before he left office was fractionally better than Liz Truss and yet a few swivel-eyed loons think that he is the saviour of the Tory party?
He had a net popularity rating of -53% leaving office , that's not going to get any better.
60%+ of UK voters want a general election called immediately.
Try a bit harder, good lad.
Meanwhile Johnson was popular all right...
On the day he has announced plans to step down as prime minister, new YouGov data reveals that Boris Johnson’s net favourability has fallen to its lowest level to date, at -53. Just 19% of the public have a favourable view of the outgoing PM, with 72% having an unfavourable view.
What can possibly go wrong, Johnson facing having to implement £50-70b of spending cuts to fill the hole in the budget.
if he doesn't the markets will turn on him. if he does, the public will turn on him.
If he cancels infrastructural levelling up projects like HS2, the red wall will turn on him.
I have mentioned a fractured, ungovernable Party, have I?
But fire away, he's great craic.
Brexit would have to be undone, as Brexit is in the way of a solution. Either back to the EU or a Swiss or Norway style agreement.
Look at the appalling state the UK is in, no real economic growths, shortages everywhere, the NHS, the state of the police, the general split in the society, the sliding pound against the us dollar and the international reliability of the country as a whole. Not only is the whole country split on Brexit, the Conservatives are also split on how to deal and implement things, especially around Brexit.
One also automatically questions whether any decent political work can be done, if the PM changes all the time. Whoever steps in after Truss won't have it easy, inherits a big mess and certainly won't have a strong career move.
The problem is if they were to continue, pretend nothing happened, appoint another big mouth PM, Boris in the worst case. It's entirely possible the UK would in a longer term process fall apart, first NI, then Scotland, and maybe even Wales.
The Conservatives would go down as the undertakers of the UK.
A federal election would not solve the problems immediately, but could calm the situation, especially if Labour would get in.
Sterling on the slide again.
Yeah, but what's going to be happening in the real world over that time - privilege committee investigation, a public covid enquiry, a tanking UK economy, prolonged cost of living crises, recession, skyrocketing interest rates leading to a probable housing market crash...etc...etc...etc Johnson will not be able to bullshit his way out of these hits that will just keep on coming.
There are questions as to whether he could even command a majority in the Commons during votes - also, there's talk he could move Hunt as Chancellor.
Do people think this will speed up the demise of the UK? I think the Tory and Brexit chaos means that the economy will be the sole focus for the next few years and they can ignore any unrest in the provinces.
This time next Friday we'll know the answer
Or quite possibly this time Monday, if there's only 1 >100
And will Sunak not face exactly the same set of problems? Surely that's what Tory MPs will be weighing up.
Given the issues arising, who is the most likely to save their individual bacon? Johnson or Sunak? The divil you know and who has done the job before or a punt on a man who has his own private and ethnic baggage to carry? Remember he was defeated by Truss in the Tory party vote and now labelled a loser. And if he lost to her and we see what she came up with??
Can't you see the appeal to bringing Johnson back in for them?
Johnson has been very very much proven to only care about his own bacon and has been proven useless at dealing with hard issues. Ya he done the job, done it so sht they fired him.
Not sure what "ethnic baggage" is. Sounds like loopdy Doo stuff to be honest.
Met him 3 times, he has a presence when he enters the room, but the way he treats people he deems lower than I'm is something else to watch, have also been on several zoom meetings during covid and he loses his shìt when people disagree with him.
Well his pitch is that he could potentially recover his electoral mojo within two years and get the Tories to - what would be a realistic target at this stage, denying Labour an overall majority? - whereas the best they could hope for with another leader would be avoiding wipeout...
Which “provinces” would they be?
One can only hope
I don't think that is a realistic target at this stage...and that's not just me saying it, it's people like Sir John Curtice who see Sunak as the better option. You can't just ignore the pending privilege committee investigate either. Could you imagine if the Tories lost another leader in just a few months? That's a very real possibility.
