Iran dragged itself into this conflict, so let it take whatever consequences comes its way.
Not a chance. The refusal to even meet Ukraine two days ago went down like a lead balloon in the press. This is just an exercise in damage control.
I think Putin was fooled by his previous success.
In 2014 Russia supported the DPR/LPR insurgency with about 10k irregular Russian troops. Ukraine suffered quite a few defeats before it could contain the threat, eventually accepting a less than favourable ceasefire. Would it have been unreasonable for Putin to think if he unleashed 180k troops with the full backing of the Russian armed forces that Ukraine could have been quickly defeated?
I agree that all this is definitely all music to American ears though and they are not in this out of altruism. They make a fortune exporting energy to Europe, their weapons manufacturers will have order books stuffed for years funding R&D to enhance US military technology further, Russian military power is set back for years with Putin damaged, American status in the world is enhanced and Taiwan is safe (for now). The $50 billion the war has cost them so far is a bargain.
We do not want to drag Iran into this
Iran will target Israel in retaliation and all of a sudden WW3
The Iranian regime could be on rocky ground on the domestic front. The US should turn a blind eye to these involvements.
In fairness, 10% of Walmart's sales was likely discounted Tomohawk missiles in their middle aisle deals.
Yup. Israel are basically just edging Ukraine at this stage.
So if (and it's still an if but in my mind more a matter of when) Russia blow the dam., then they will almost certainly try and blame it on Ukraine. Now that won't even make sense. I mean why would Ukraine avoid blowing it up for months only to then destroy it and Kherson city just when they were about to regain control over both of them? At the same time the Russians have been gleefully destroying civilian infrastructure and especially power generation capabilities all over Ukraine in the past couple of weeks under that new commanding general.
In other words - if this happens please spare us with the "Well actually..." takes trying to contort the truth. Only one side will blow up that dam and it's Russia.
They won't be sending anything,
Unfortunately it's been made very clear and publicly that Israel will not be getting involved in Ukraine,
No iron dome for anyone other than isreal
It crossed my mind that it might be a suicide mission by somebody who really doesn't like the Russians. Someone who lost a loved one during a raid?
Doesn’t look like it. The Nova Kahovka dam is a massive structure, with the generator hall and the sluice section of the dam spanning 650 meters, not including the locks for river ships or the earth dams that carry the approach roads. If you include those, the dam is nearly 3.5 kilometres wide. The river below the dam is equally wide, with the main channel spanning 300 meters, with side channels and low lying islands spanning around 2 km all the way down to Kherson.
and then creating a huge area russian troops have to go around.
Its well known that Putin was whoring around Syria and other countries where they've been active, looking for effectively regular soldiers to become unmarked mercenaries with his forces.
It wouldn't be a great surprise to find Iranians of a similar profile being brought in as well.
Considering this war isn't a war (sic) then the Geneva Convention protections for uniformed combatants doesn't really apply.
Yes Iran should suffer for aiding the aggressor, but when it comes to their personnel on the ground, if they want to be there, then they can get blown to hell alongside all the Russian units.
Israeli Prime Minister Lapid told Ukrainian foreign minister Kuleba that Israel is concerned by the deepening military cooperation between Russia and Iran
Iron Dome order en route
Oh for Zeus's sake Wibbs, obviously the Americans pulled a kind of Jedi mind trick that forced the easy-going, peace-loving, benevolent Mr Putin to launch the invaxxx special operation against his own will.
Do keep up.
Interestingly, the initial regime reaction to this was all over the place and then they quickly seemed very anxious to pin the blame on the Ukrainians. The bridge being blown up by Russians would clearly be embarrassing but also potentially very risky for Putin in terms of optics.
cant be certain but this may be the dam
I wonder is this potential flood the reason they evacuated Kherson?
Well Iranian forces shouldnt have boots on European ground, letting Iranian weapons rain down on European cities.
Iran needs a good kick up the hole.
Because he was intoxicated by his success in Chechnya?
This is how world wars start.
Animation of what the impact of the destruction of the dam would be.
Looks to be a lot of towns on the east bank but critically also Kherson city itself on the west bank.
Indeed and further to that point: If we take the position that yep the dastardly Yanks decided to bleed Russia dry using Ukrainian bodies to do so and this has been known for years by the dogs on the street. And let's face it this would be a good enough plan for them. OK, then why did putin and all his advisors who surely knew about this clear trap walk straight into it?
Coming our way too possibly this winter, Francie. Get the candles and oil lamps out.
Difficult but will just harden resolve to deal with these Russian and Iranian f***ers.
Depending on who or what you believe the main Russian forces have withdrawn from Beryslav as of today
That's a fairly serious allegation if it's proven to be true. Iranian military not just supplying but actively engaged in the theatre of war. Would surely be a major escalation putting Iran in this war.
Interesting discussion about fracking, its banning, real impact, how it's regulated much tighter than other industries, and lies about burning tap water. How did we ended up here? Who benefits from the EU fracking ban? Yes.
We (meaning we the EU) could have been already independent from russian oil and gas. But we chose not to, lead by lies and propaganda and traitors.
Not good.
...
According to this video, from last night though, the UA are nowhere near Beryslav yet
Wasn't the Ukrainians???-
