Felt a little sorry for 15. The DS's wanted her out but hadn't been able to get her to quit. That finger pointing exercise was purely to make her cry and to get rid of her. If they'd left her til the next exercise she wouldn't have made it anyway.
To be fair they have done the finger pointing exercise in every season.
They got under her skin, started making her doubt herself and she broke.
Better to break there than halfway up a mountain.
Also felt it was a bit hars as it was clear she was out of her depth. They had any number of reasons to get rid of her prior to that but wouldn't for some reason
Agreed, I recall them doing it each season. It's just the first time I'd noticed them almost targeting someone in particular.
I wonder how those who did have to quit while still on the mountain get down? Had they to make their way back, heavy backpack and all? Or does someone zip up on a quad bike and collect them?
I remember on the civilian one, a person could have 4 or 5 others telling them they were sh1t.
I'd say at the very least their bags are taken off them. It's the weight of the bag that's often the killer.
I'd say a medical team isn't too far away either.
He was completely taking the piss, he even said so after, was literally picking Setanta for the craic as he could see 15 was struggling, and didn't want to compound it.
Donovan has gotten a little preachy over the years, likes expressing his wisdom above his station but hes a really sound fella by all accounts.
But why is the umpire any different to the scary baldy man and horrible blonde woman who do the interrogation?? They show their faces no problem. Looking forward to seeing the hot interrogator lady on this weeks show.
The other ones are ctors. Pretty sure the Umpire's profession is related to interrogation training etc
What they are actors?? I thought them 2 are SAS or at least ex SAS, similar to the instructors. Same with the Irish version, except I don’t think there is an umpire in that??
The red haired one is definitely an actor but they don't say it on the show. The Umpire might be an actor too and they're just hiding his identity to make it seem more authentic
Only boys left in the final. What is wrong with Irish celebrity women?? On the recent English series there was 2 each celebrity men/women passed the course. Are English celebrity women stronger than Irish celebrity women?? Who wins SAS or the Irish Army Rangers??
Its more to do with the women been expected to carry the same weight up a mountain as a giant like Setanta.
Yep I guess that weight should be proportional to make it fairer. There isn’t much similarities anyway to the current SAS one in Jordan, they don’t do any huge trek in that like they do in this. Tho it’s a lot harder to trek over sand dunes than small mountains.
On the Irish one they should send them up Carantoohil if they could get it for the day. Cronins yard up o’Sheas to peak then down the zig zags back to Cronins, maybe 6hrs limit.
The whole point of this is to put people through a taster of the special forces course.
Enemies don't treat you differently whether you're a man or woman. If you're in combat and need to make your way up the mountain and survive, then being a light woman is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is being able to get up the mountain.
You could nearly halve that time for carrauntoohil....
In the real army, no differentation is given to gender./height/weight Same for this
I think SAS are on a higher level to the rangers. I could be wrong though.
That trek up up the mountain is serious especially with the time contraint, passing that you need to serious gravy and not too many women in this country who could do it with those conditions.
Its certainly a larger and more experienced Regiment.
600 SAS vs ~200 ARW
SAS goes back to WWII and they would have serious wartime chops, appearing in every British conflict since that time, as an advanced recon and sabotage unit. Perhaps most famously, they destroyed a good proportion of the Argentine aircraft and anti-air defences located on the Falklands, before the main British task force even arrived.
They can be deployed from submarines, warships, high altitude low opening parachute drops and more conventionally by helicopters and fast light vehicles. The Irish ARW simply don't have the facilities or the experience to match all that corporate knowledge.
But in fairness, I'd say if you put the SAS up against the Wing in a series of tasks, more advanced than the Hellweek elements, the outcomes would probably be close enough.
I grow in admiration for Setanta by the week.
I think I spoke too soon🤣🤣🤣
Adagio in D Minor getting another outing.
What does Setanta do nowadays he is not playing?
Lives in Hawaii with his wife is all I know.
Poor fucker, the cold in Cork must be a killer.
Didn't think the boxer would last the pace, pity he fell at the final furlong. Decent bloke, he took the positives out of it.
Was thinking before the show the interrogation could break Eric or Setanta, if we ever get invaded i want Billy Holland and Peter Stringer on the front line.
The English one is piss compared to the Irish one. Nowhere near the same levels of fitness required
The final episode is always the worst but this was a terrible final episode.
Was surprised too. He would be in serious shape between his PT job and playing GAA at the highest club level. Just goes to show how much fatigue can take a toll physically and mentally. The reduced sleep must be a killer. Would need some resilience and luck even when well prepared.
