Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
Its gross
Hi . I see from the information book that this role pays 507 Weekly at the entry scale . Do you know if that is take home or gross ? I'm currently deciding on leaving my trade in the construction industry. Which I have done for the past 24 years for a career change although it would be close to a 50% reduction in take home pay .
Tough decision with a young family
Thanks for reply vetting completed, on assignment notice. Also passed interview beginning of May. Hope all going well for you.
@Mick001 Yes I started in AGS recently. Passed interview beginning of May. Got start date the end of July. Did you complete Garda vetting?
Anyone start in AGS recently? If so how long from interview to appointment? I past interview over 5 months ago and no contract, start date location etc. Thanks
@EdwardP2022 ETB competencies are similar to civil service. Have a look at this from pubic jobs - https://publicjobs.ie/en/information-hub/our-recruitment-process/interview-advice. Some good interview advice there.
A question I heard of being asked before was around the biggest challenges facing admin staff - they were looking for awareness of data protection concerns (such as sending emails to the wrong people, not removing previous thread in emails, etc. )
Bes of luck in your interview.
the new competition is only for a Dublin panel, the booklet will be out tomorrow and we will know more then
If the new panel is for the passport office only.....I Wonder would this mean that the existing panel would be extended beyond Jan 31st 2023 to fill other roles that may come up. Keeping in mind there's not Passport offices in each county throughout the country 🤔
Yes
This forum is for civil service only, there may be another one for ETB interview panels as the competencies may be different. Good luck with your interview
Hi guys,
I have a interview for a clerical officer grade 3 role for the lmetb this week.
Any advice/tips for the interview process?
Thanks.
Passport Office?
What's that
Fritzelly what's PRO?
For the new CO comp I'm being told it's for the PPO only
After a read over your replies since, this is a mess. It's their mistake!
Hopefully you get sorted. I'd keep onto them stating what you've said above and what others have said.
Spoke too soon yesterday re courts :P Got a call today from HR confirming start date of 7th November. They wanted me to start on the 1st but its just too short notice with childcare.
Yes they do, they told me they had nothing currently open in my location and their request to pas had been for location they were offering.
Someone has fucked up somewhere I just hope I'm not the one left paying the price.
Good to hear that I'm not the only one and hopefully I can get a similar outcome to yourself 🤞
Does that department have an office in your location?
That happened to me, HR contacted me for just say an office in my county 60k away. I said no I only selected x office in my town and they panicked and luckily there was a space for me there. Public jobs basically fucked up.... I was in a department where there was luckily an office in most major towns. If there is one in your town or nearer, state to them that you selected x place, forward them the email and demand it to be fixed.
Have gone past that stage, was contacted to see if I wanted to proceed through clearance for x location. All clearances and references completed. Assignment notice received weeks ago and today when hr finally got in touch it was for the wrong location.
Then say it to them, they say this prior to completing location pref form " Should you be contacted regarding a position in a selected location outside of your chosen locations, you may decline this and remain on the panel for further consideration. "
No, I didn't have it on my list at all.
Is this location on your list of preferences you gave? I selected 1 Town of 3 in my list of preferences and I was told my preferences got it. Then they put me down for a town I didn't pick, they rectified it very quickly.
Thank you for your reply, I appreciate them all.
Not a department where working from home is an option. There are 4 departments with offices in my local area one of which is where I thought I was headed.
I am taking a hit on income to try and a achieve a better work life balance, so spending 2 hours travelling back and forth the extra fuel costs and the extra 10 hrs childcare fees are the reasons I would never have proceeded to clearance for that area.
Just in pure shock as I never thought this could happen, I thought invitation to clearance for an area meant that was the area you would be working in.
Firstly before jumping to any conclusions....
Is the blending working option available for this department? 1/2 days per week in the office.
Have you your own transport?
Isn't there a set distance from your home to office (eg. 60km etc) in which you can turn down a job and stay on a panel for one more offer?
Is there any departments based closer? I'm just thinking about my own County and many CO's have to travel 40/50/60km to work as no departments based in their local areas so no other option but to take the job if they want to get into the public sector.
Again, working from home here could be huge in terms of accepting the job.
I’d contact them and explain that with the cost of travel these days could they give you something nearer home. The money isn’t great when starting out and I think they don’t know how to read a map, once outside Dublin they haven’t a clue
apparently next month for the new comp. End of Jan 2023 is when this panel expires.
Just had the rug pulled out from under me, finally got contacted by hr today after receiving assignment notice on the 1st Sept, the location of the position is 50km from the area I was proceeding to clearance for. Anyone had this happen and had a good outcome?
Has anyone heard when the next nationwide campaign will be ? Did they give a timeline for when this campaign will expire ?
