It's all falling apart alarmingly fast for Boris Johnson across the water. How long you reckon he has left as British Prime Minister? Hours surely?
How many parties are they talking about now? I've lost count.

agree, but whats is even more farcical is the Tory party voted her as leader - not sure in 6 weeks ther has ever been a more farcical PM -Monyty Python stuff.
Well that's kind of the fault of the Tory leader selection method.
They went around the country canvassing every Alan Partridge and Hyacinth Bucket from Cumbria to Penzance. And well...they came up with someone you'd imagine Alan Partridge and Hyacinth Bucket would dream up as Prime Minister if you gave them a piece of paper and some colouring pencils.
I haven't got a clue how you jumped to that conclusion about my expectations.
But.. Wow.
Maybe sometimes, but I doubt that that happens very often, especially not in jobs as demanding as these.
So the person eliminated at the first ballot of MPs is now the white knight hoping to save the party.
He must be enjoying the irony.
You said something about the Tories that may be construed as neither ridicule or scorn. Therefore you are a Tory boy and your posts will be treated with derision.
From the PMQs it would seem Penny Mordaunt as PM and Hunt as Chancellor would have been a much better result.
From the state of the tory party and the UK in general for the last half a decade it would seem any iteration of any other party (including The Monster Raving Loony Party) would be a much better result.
He did well from a very low bar when the leader of house was laughed for her excuse why liz truss wasn’t in the commons chamber and then the PM turned up doing a weekend at Bernie’s cosplay before Halloween.
I took your post to mean that Jeremy hunt did well today in the commons which he did but it’s faint praise really.
At this stage (regarding the relief at Hunt's performance yesterday from some), it surely must now be "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king"
And in the kingdom of the bland, it's 9 o'clock on ITV.
So he goes from being a €unt to being a one eyed monster.
Would be a good time for Truss to get her flak jacket on and head to Ukraine, she'd be safer there than PMQs tomorrow afternoon
In a YouGov survey of 530 tory members, 55% want Truss to resign now and 32% want Johnson to return to No 10.
The same Party membership that voted for her 6 weeks ago??
Those people should have absolutely zero involvement in the selection of the next PM
I know its coming up to Halloween but that 32% of Tory members want Johnson back is truly frightening. But then should it be a surprise some still think Brexit is great.
So at least 32% of Tory members are idiots.
A gross underestimate.
in fairness:
Parliamentary party will try to ensure they don't by ensuring a 'coronation' of her successor...
While neither is a good thing under any circumstance.
14+ years vs. 6 weeks is a little different in terms of "time away to learn your lesson" or for people to forget how corrupt you were.
Not really comparable at all.
Given how utterly abject Truss had been a Johnson return would almost seem like it was the plan all along.
Boris must be going through a lot of popcorn, I'd say he's loving this.
I’ve no doubt that he supported Truss because he know she’d screw up. Like he doesn’t care about the country…..just what’s best for him
The Tory party have some really serious questions to answer about how somebody so obviously ill-suited to the job, was allowed to make it as far as she did. The MPs that voted for her, the members that voted for her.
Her debate performances were terrible, nobody could watch them and think that Truss had what it takes to be PM. Doubt anyone could have forseen just how badly she did, but it was obvious that she hadn't the ability.
It bodes really badly for the party that she won, as it indicates the complete lack of talent. But also a complete lack of appreciation in the party as to what makes a good leader
What it says is that they don't give a damn and don't think they have to bother.
They believe that leadership and power is their absolute right and trivialities such as competence are not the concern of mere plebeian mortals like the British public.
The fact that the members want Boris back is quite depressing but also, utterly predictable
The Parliamentary party wanted him gone because they saw that he was a liability to their election chances , but the party membership - Those predominantly white , over 50 men living the the south east of England have never had any issue with Boris Johnson whatsoever.
They'd have him back in a heartbeat.
If the back-benchers do push out Truss they will only do so if they have absolute alignment to ensure that there is no vote involving the wider party membership as they will choose the looniest choice available to them.
Graham Brady et al will be working a plan to push out Truss and replace her with Sunak or Mordaunt without any vote outside of the Parliamentary party.
If neither of them want that obviously poisoned chalice (and who the hell would?!?!) then they are more likely to leave her there in her current "sock puppet" position so she takes the damage before the inevitable destruction at the next GE
I still don’t understand how Truss and Kwarteng torpedoed the economy overnight. They didn’t actually enact their proposals- how has it all gone so wrong?
So UK government borrowing interest rates were jacked up when the markets panicked at unfounded tax cuts announced in the mini budget, but how has that damage not been undone now they’ve been cancelled?
I make no bones about the fact that I do not really understand the economics of this. It I’m not arrogant enough to think that I do, unlike Truss.
no party leader makes it to the top without having a few loyal supporters. 32% of Tories wanting him back is hardly an outstanding endorsement.
