MY battery is smaller. Look up efficiency figues
What is the usable capacity of the Model Y standard range battery available now for €53K ?
It is a 60 kWh LFP battery with a useable capacity of 57.5 kWh
hopefully Tesla don’t enable a large buffer in the MY RWD given it’s the lowest range of all Teslas
If this is true, it could be just a 55kWh pack.

Interesting. Hopefully we get some concrete info in the coming weeks.
Probably still worth a gamble of a €250 deposit, it’s not a big loss if it turns out the range is not folks expected.
If you have a trade in offer from Tesla valid for 7 days and you order within this period, is this honoured upon delivery or do they revalue when your new car is built ?
@joe1303l - "Should the new MG4 also be considered in terms of a value for money EV ?"
Of course, it's probably the best value for money EV out there. And let's not forget the Model Y is a €53k car. That's out of budget for a lot of people.
The 35k 52kwh ID4 is up there on that list. (32k if you went to the right dealer)
Yes indeed @ted1. That was superb value for money.
Worth a gamble to keep the current price.
If you don’t take delivery next Feb/Mar you can get your money back under the distance selling rules.
Trade in is valid for 30 days so you can submit your details now to get an idea but not will be revalued closer to trade in time.
Presume if they change the WLTP then you would be entitled to your deposit back as well?
You’re entitled to your deposit back anyway under the distance selling laws.
I ordered a M3 LR in February. It was ready for collection in August but I didn’t take it as I got an M3P from inventory in March.
Applied for my €100 deposit back and had it within 3 days.
That is excellent news. Best of both worlds really. It means that the Berlin Model Y will not just get the LiFePO4 chemistry, but that the batteries are the "blade" batteries from BYD, that have very high energy density, the highest for the chemistry afaik. Also exceptionally safe - safer than the battery in any other EV. This density means the car will be lighter, so more efficient. So despite the battery being smaller, I'd say the range figures won't be affected by much.
Just found this on the range:
Basically the Made in China RWD Model Y with the LiFePO4 60kWh pack has a WLTP range of 455km, the made in Berlin RWD Model Y with the BYD blade LiFePO4 55kWh it has a range of 440km, barely a significant drop as I expected
More info on these BYD Packs

Would buying the M3P on inventory be the reason you got your deposit back.
I ordered an M3 August 21, it didn't arrive until Feb 22 at that stage I had an ioniq 5.
They did not refund my deposit.... As they said was non-refundable.
What exactly are the rules on the distance selling laws?
No it made no difference as another poster on here proved last week. He cancelled his order and got his €250 back.
Heres my email :
Hi,
I placed an order for a new Model 3 in February 2022.
It would not be due delivery until August-November 2022.
I am applying for that refund as the order page states "Non-refundable for order cancellations, except when statutory cancellation rights apply” such as distance selling legislation.
The purchase agreement was entered into by means of distance communication and I have a statutory right to cancellation with full refund.
Page 5 of the order agreement specified “Region Specific Provisions".
Can you please process this refund.
Kind Regards,
I sent that to contactuk@tesla.com
Did you wait until August to ask for deposit back? I've a MY Performance booked in June for 83k, 30k more than this MY RWD. Do I wait until they contact me to complete de order, or can I ask for it back now I wonder...
Thanks I'll go the more formal route in my phrasing I replied to their notification when a car was finally available
"No I have been waiting so long I decided to get an EV with another company which I took delivery of in the start of January.
So I will be declining my order. Is there any chance I can get my deposit back due to how long I had to wait."
To which they replied
"We always advise that any delivery dates provided are only estimates and are subject to vehicle specification availability. This is also stated on our website.
The order fee of 100euro is unfortunately non-refundable. "
I bet the b@£#£#£s will say was not cancelled but was declined, but sure let's have a bit of craic anyway on the legal interpretations.
I got the same response from sandyford. Hence going the UK email address route.
hope you get it.
Cancelled in august.
Went the above route in October.
You don't need to pop down to do anything. Place your order. Once it's ready, you'll be contacted and you'll have options of cash/hp/pcp. 3 years PCP with roughly 10% deposit works at around 800 euro pcm. at least it did with the SR M3 which is similarly priced.
I'm giving strong consideration to doing the same and ordering here. I'd want MSM and to be sure the towbar can be fitted after delivery.
Same boat the tow package is €1500 in the shop so certainly looks to be fully supported post delivery
It’s been confirmed on the FB Group that the tow can be added after delivery.
Strongly considering at this point. It's just the wheels now throwing me off. Does anyone know if the aero wheels from the 3 (ie the actual covers) fit on the Y wheels?
PS: Does no one think it's odd that you can get the grant for a new m3 this year and 6 months later trade it in and get the grant towards your next car too??
The Gemini wheels are the weak point for me too (even though I ordered an MSM one).
My plan is to either :
SEAi Grant. As many times as you want I believe. Although I think Theres a hidden rule of max €200k buried somewhere in the legislation.
no, because in all likely hood the car is staying in the country and adding another BEV to the national fleet.
I’ve put in a query to see why it would cost to change the ID4.
The wheels are the weak point, MY is 19s by default, I was looking at something like https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005004558094786.html?spm=a2g0n.productlist.0.0.4f4dN9AfN9AfST&browser_id=01a677a8b2a84c02996916e753f41531&aff_trace_key=ddaa911540a243c38daa97023edb2564-1665763503445-05156-_DDYG4hp&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=8gwvf32xsigcavlk183e5900b39226cb9a66234bb9&gclid=&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21EUR%21244.16%21163.58%21%21%2197.84%21%21%40210318be16660037662176817e766f%2112000030677928647%21sea&curPageLogUid=WwkyWBAVBgjl&algo_pvid=efc727dc-de00-446a-95f8-a76c75cec2c8
For sure, the Aero wheel covers on the Y are terrible - they look like after market knockoffs! The M3 Aero covers are great, especially on the MSM. Unfortunately due to the different wheel size on the Y, they won't fit.
