Well that's a terrible idea. What incentive would private investors and entrepreneurs have to innovate if the technology could just be stripped from them. I think his PR needs to address his Twitter use. Can't take away what he has facilitated in terms of technological advancement, I'd rather see him continue what he's doing at the cost of a few stupid moments.

The Ukraine counter offensive seems to have ground to a halt. Very little progress in the last week and Russia is starting it's own counter offensive in some places but not much progress to show.
The worst case now is both sides get entrenched and there is a stalemate with on going battles but no real advance.
For the Ukrainians they need to regain momentum for the eventual negotiations as that will ultimately come down to the land under Russian occupation at that point.
There is legislation in place to do exactly that such as the Invention Secrecy Act. Also given the fact that that his companies are working off technology first developed by government bodies such as NASA and government funded research in both labs and universities, as well as providing most of the funding to his companies, they could easily apply other legislation.

I don't know anything about the Invention Secrecy Act, but I had a quick google and it looks to only affect patents for new inventions. This could potentially feck things that are in the pipeline for Musk but I don't think it would be beneficial to the US Government in doing so. Weighing out the pros and cons of keeping that relationship sweet, you have the con being the liability of Musk's public interactions, which he is perfectly entitled to, and the pros being the technology he provides for state/military use. I don't think the US government are going to cut a stream of technological advancement over a few Tweets over Ukraine.

If he was, but what evidence is there that he did? I just can't see Putin, in what would have to be a moment of desperation and realisation, reaching out to Elon Musk to broker a peace deal. There would be numerous discreet diplomatic channels to broker such a deal, why Elon Musk of all people who is notorious for his loose tongue?
The technological advancements especially military ones aren't being made by his companies and especially not without government funding, that goes and those advancements just get made by a different company.
Already seeing it with the established car manufacturers already poised to overtake Tesla.
Also his inane need to be a troll could affect his relationship with the government regarding any contracts under the Logan act.

This was the the beginning of Putin's poisonings tactics and he got away with it. He went on to get away with invading Crimea. He got away with too much for too long. Hopefully it's not too late now, but he will get away with nothing from now on.
Kermit, Russia will lose this war, no matter how long it takes. They are losing on so many fronts, at home in Russia, economy is grinding to a halt, sanctions are working, and really starting to bite. As if this isn't enough, Putins " Partial Mobilization" has stopped many key industries working simply because key workers were ordered to turn up at mobilization offices the next day, not even allowed to finalize their affairs before shipping out. And as for the draft dodgers and the hole they are leaving in the economy. No, Putin options are dwindling at every level, on the other hand, Ukraine's military options are getting stronger. Its always a bad sign when the dictator starts to turn on his own top supporters. in this case his war bloggers. Lots of uncertainty now amongst his "Friend's" as to who will be next... As for winter stalemate, that will hit Russians much harder than the Ukrainians, when the Russians are unable to supply their soldiers with proper gear in the summer, what's going to happen in the winter, when conditions get much worse? And if he plays his trump card, his nukes, what happens? Aside from the West destroying his military, what's to stop Ukraine from attacking Russian cities and towns? Strikes on Moscow, St. Petersburg etc. ??
No evidence he did speak with Putin, but it's a reply to your comment saying if he did, sure he's a private citizen, nothing the US Gov can do other than revoke contracts. So if he did, there's a lot more than can be done to him other than revoking some contracts.

The government subsidies amounted to around 7b according to the most recent figures I can find and three of his companies are touching 1000b, so I don't think losing that funding will hurt all that much. The advancements are the reason for the government funding, they didn't cause it.
