Adams of Tralee rent vans.
also there is O’Neills transport and van hire in Drumtacker.
I read that Dingle Seafood in Manor has closed down. I can't say I ever shopped there, but sad to see another business close.
I saw a shopfront was added to what was a residential house a few doors up from the HLM TV shop on Strand Street when I was driving by the other week. I wonder what might be going in there? Another building at the corner by the roundabout opposite the laundrette corner has cleaned up nicely with newly exposed stone facade too! Nice to see some improvements on that street as a few of the buildings were (and some still are) in need of some TLC.
O Donnells at Mounthawk closed at the weekend.
Closed down?
Yes. Staff laid off at the weekend.
The person I spoke to reckons there'll be only a handful of restaurants left open after winter
That's awful. Is that Pickup coffee dock outside still open?
I was getting a coffee from that kiosk about 2 saturdays ago, around 3pm & noticed a man trying the door of main bar to go in but it was closed. I thought it was odd to be closed at that time on a Saturday.
I found going into that shop a particularly unfriendly experience, I always tended to drive a bit further to Quinlan's where they are very helpful.
I know someone who ran a takeaway in Tralee which was doing quite well. The bank contacted him during the summer and more or less told him to quit while he was ahead because there was a very bad winter in store which he duly did. I can only assume it's happening all over.
I think we're on the verge of a tsunami of restaurant and cafe closures this winter. If energy costs have quadrupled, rents and interest rates constantly increasing and staff either not available to work in that sector or require wages that are unaffordable, businesses will be forced to close.
The cost of living crisis means customers who might otherwise have gone out for a meal once a week or more or bought a coffee regularly will also stop regrettably giving that custom. A scary and perfect storm.......
Is there any word on when Elverys open in Tralee? I thought it was meant to open in October it doesn’t look ready to open yet any time I’ve passed it lately. I’ve also noted that the three mobile shop is closed any time I’ve passed late in evening. I’m not in the town that often so not sure what is happening there.
There was work going on there last night, but it still looked like it was a long way off finished.
I saw work being done yesterday on the big unit beside the petrol station in Caherslee that used to have a Londis shop in it.
Tullamore burial on the news, Gardai everywhere
...sorry to have offended. Damn this is a frustrating problem.
The Three store was being renovated for a few weeks, but its reopened now. They don't open late though, just until 6pm. Elvery's will probably be open by next month. Quite a lot of work done now and I was able to see in yesterday when I walked past and there seemed to be staff in there so probably starting to get stock in.
Is that new Dillons recycling facility over in Monavalley open tonthr public yet?
Yep, open now.
Do you know what can be brought there?
Was going to ask the same! I don't know what the story is with the place, I haven't seen anything about it. You would think by now there would be some sort of advertising about it and what you can bring etc! We have a lot of stuff to clear out and don't live too far from there so it would be handy to stick in the van and head over!
Speaking of waste that free electrical recycling is on again in the Mart in Caherslee next Saturday 22nd for anyone interested.
I saw signs there today pointing to Civic Amenity. Not sure what that means & if it's free.
T.
I don't even wait for that anymore. Just go up to the back of Harvey Norman's and you can leave any electrical items in their cages. We dumped a good few things at the start of the week. Very handy!
Some power outages in Tralee tonight. Seems to be some of Boherbee up towards Marian Park. Says Ballybeggan fault, eventhough Oakpark area fine where we are (and we are very close to Ballybeggan). Apparently Ballyrickard area too, but not sure where that includes. Anyone else have no power?
Found this on their website
From 3rd October 2022, Dillon Waste moved to a new covered civic amenity site in Monavalley Industrial Estate, Tralee, V92 PCA2, providing an opportunity for the public to recycle and dispose of their waste.
A receptacle is provided for each of the following materials.
There are no disposal costs for these items once the material is deposited into each bin.
Disposal of general waste by the public is charged either per bag or by weight (using our pit-mounted weighbridge system).
Other materials accepted at our facility are Batteries, Timber, Garden Waste and Rubble.
We do not accept hazardous waste e.g. asbestos at our civic amenity centre.
In recognition of this valuable facility to the local community, Tralee Tidy Towns have presented awards to Dillon Waste in 2010 and 2012.
The opening hours for our civic amenity centre are: Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 17:30 and Saturday - 08:00 to 13:00

Just noticed the sign last week but haven't popped in myself yet. Am very curious to know the answer to that question myself!
Can do the same at the back of Currys.
good to know, thanks!
Nice to see Quinlans old pub next to new Elverys will open a new bar there next Spring. The street will really start coming alive! I'd love for some cool and funky restaurant/cocktail bar type venue to take over Caballs to really give the street a further boost. It has the right quirky layout, space and appearance for something original to go in there!🤞🙏
Funky restaurant/cocktail bar, great idea but just not sufficient clientele to make it a success!
