It's all falling apart alarmingly fast for Boris Johnson across the water. How long you reckon he has left as British Prime Minister? Hours surely?
How many parties are they talking about now? I've lost count.

There are still fools defending Brexit and the Tories.
Ah ffs. Even if you aren’t a fan of Helen McEntee to compare to the truss is beyond the pale.
Nobody wants a customs union. It's a daft idea that would please nobody and accomplish nothing.
I disagree. Best leave it there. Belongs in another thread
There's an excellent article in the Guardian this evening highlighting how the idea of "British sovereignty" and thinking the UK could tell the EU to F*** off was the work of seriously deluded idiots and fantasists among the Leavers and Tories.
I'm curious why you brought it up. This was all settled literally years ago.
No they wouldnt, after seeing the double speak, backstabbing and reneging on signed deals of the past 6 years the EU would be pretty cautious about getting into bed with the UK in any manner in the near future. The benefits of a customs union currently come nowhere near to outweighing the hasle that it might potentially cause if suddenly a tory government were voted into power.
That 4% reduction in GDP is entirely Brexit related, on top of that the UK still faces all the same problems the Eurozone and rest of the world are facing.
The next budget will have to be done in real time. It'll require about 6 different versions. As each version is being explained, there will be a guy off camera doing the knife across the throat gesture when "the markets" go nuh-uh.
I still deeply despise Johnson more than Truss. I feel like Truss is simply not fit for PM and is dreadful. She was selected by party members and they are every bit as responsible for this s**tshow as she is.
I think her time as PM is now ticking down. Hard to feel sorry for her, she was not wanted as leader by the other Tory mps but she bulled on anyways. She has flip flopped now showing weakness and sacking her mate and letting him take the heat. Miss Trust indeed. The only reason she may hang on is because no one else wants to captain the hms Brexit Banana Boat whilst it navigates seriously dodgy waters.
...
Milliband has been sitting on that for years and chose yesterday to post it
I just saw the interview a few hrs ago, it is breathtaking how bad a speaker she is. As bad as the tories are, how did they pick her as the best of the 7 that stood? She would be laughed out of a county council meeting with carry-on like that. So wooden and scripted, and seems completely unable to think or speak off the cuff
Listening to UK talk radio yesterday and several Tory party members interviewed and it seems Truss either will be replaced by an uncontested candidate like Sunak/Mourdant or the country faces general election. 6 out of the 7 members interviewed suggested a general election and would vote Labour, as the Tories have been in power too long, run out of ideas and such an embarrassment.
One thing that struck me about them being asked why they voted for Truss, and all still viewed Johnson as a uniting saviour, that did nothing wrong, and voted against Sunak for disloyalty.
Some even suggested that she should be leaning more on the trusted and knowledgeable opinion of Jacob Ree-Mogg during this period of turbulence?
In the Leadership election round one Truss got 50 votes to Sunak 88 and Hunt got eliminated with 15 and now he’s the king maker. Clearly the the party didn’t want her nor Johnson, that was the danger trigger, but a bunch of deluded, middle England, aging demographic gets to decide and voted her in.
The party has lurched so far to the right and people in the past like John Redwood were laughed at but tolerated. Sunak had no choice but to lurch on policy more to the right and seemed to be a game of who could be the most extreme.
Sunak would make a terrible leader too and way overdue for Labour to be in control albeit would prefer Lisa Nandy rather than the elected prince in waiting Starmer.
.
Basically by promising the geratric Tory base that she would take them back to the glory days of thatcher. In essence she lied and they were to senile to notice.
Not surprisingly the MPs spotted her for fraud a mile off.
Depressingly, I feel some of the more capable Tory candidates were overlooked due to them having the wrong…shall we say hair colour?
Hell, didn’t one serial poster here deride Kimi Badenoch’s suitability for the role with the euphemism that she “looked like a youth club leader”? Can’t help but wonder how many like-minded Tory members objected to these…”youth club leaders” without looking into their actual abilities.
And now they’ve got Truss. But sure,….at least she doesn’t look like a “Youth Club Leader”
No they wouldn't. The EU might be open to allowing them to retain some access to the single market but it would be entirely on our terms
All this talk about the UK deciding to rejoin as if they have a choice.
There's not a hope they're wanted back.
Only for they currently occupy a part of this island we wouldn't even be having these conversations anymore.
It's like the "they need us more than we need them" schtick all over again.
Remember folks all this shitstorm is because basically the Tories were unelectable 6years ago. They bought themselves a few years to ransack the country but it was always going to end this way for a party which lurched to the far right without any real plan.
What I will guarantee is that when they eventually crash out of government the level of corruption and cronyism revealed will be horrific to behold. People will end up in jail.
Jeremy Hunt was pretty reassuring doing the rounds this morning. Basically the country is heading back on the path of fiscal discipline.
There is no both sides.
If the UK want full access they align to us. Thems the rules simple as that
Oh yeah, congratulations on becoming a negotiator for the EU. Is that the official position?
It's been patently obvious for most of a decade now.
It's how the common market works.
Want full access follow the rules.
The Brits never quite grasped the rules. Exceptionalism only works if your the biggest dog on the block.
Yes.
When was it not?
It had already fallen by 3.8% from Q2 2016 to Q4 2019 so methinks 4% is wishful thinking.
And Brexit hasn't been done yet. The UK still hasn't applied full import controls so things will get a little worse.
And you also have to factor in the fall in Sterling. Food and fuel are imported so affects everyone directly or nearly directly.
The British government is embarrassing, not the people.
...and the figure comes from a forecast made before the war in Ukraine started.
