Got my EI bill today, no FIT credit. Guess it will be December now.
But did they contact you yet? Any promise of payment from them? Still waiting to hear from them....
EI Are stalling or clueless
Are they bound by law to pay deemed FIT? It's dragging on so long now I'm half expecting nothing.
They are gouging every other way, so why even bother paying deemed FIT. Plus, the energy regulator isn't fit for purpose and definitely isn't on the side of the customer.
Yep. Got that email weeks ago about them knowing I'd submitted an NC6 and the 14C.
fyi, this from the CRU in reply to my complaint about lack of CEG payment from Energia...
"At present, the CRU has not set a deadline by which suppliers must publish their Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) tariffs or provide microgeneration customers with payments for energy exported to the grid. This is due in part to the need for suppliers to have a certain level of flexibility in some areas of implementation of the CEG, given the need to develop robust systems and the practicalities of implementing the new interim arrangements.
The CRU has noted in its Non-binding Guidance to Electricity Suppliers on implementation aspects of Interim Clean Export Guarantee that it anticipates that ‘all suppliers will have made the first payment by 31 August 2022 at the latest’.
Although this date is indicative and not strictly binding on suppliers, several suppliers have now published their export tariffs. As stated on page 29 of the CRU’s Interim Clean Export Guarantee Decision Paper, suppliers are expected to make an initial payment or credit within a ‘reasonable time’ after suppliers gained access to customer’s export data at the end of June. The CRU has asked that suppliers communicate their decision on when initial CEG payments will be made to customers at the earliest opportunity."
regulators? I think not
The wording some suppliers are using is completely confusing when it comes to the smart meters as well, have a read of the likes of Bord Gais's letter and link referencing who is eligible for deemed FIT and where they state you MUST agree to their terms to receive it. I will just wait and see how it all pans out but agree on the regulators usefulness.
Now where did I leave my motorbike ashtray, ah yes, it's beside my chocolate fireguard.
To the poster that moved provider and had previous refuse to pay up deemed export;Small claims court. Suspect a number of people are going to have to go there to put some fire under this issue. And if there is a way to haul CRU over the coals too then in the same legal challenge all the better.
The CRU is not fit for purpose.
“Non-binding” 🙄
Going to try that with iberdrola!
So does anyone know what happens when you're on deemed export and then get a smart meter installed but don't activate it?
Presumably your can't say no since you'd lose your export, but if you don't activate it then will you stay on deemed export or will they just switch you to metered export?
My guess is you'll be on metered export since the smart meter is still capable of reading the export and what plan you're on is between you and your supplier
Also, can you renew any of the normal "non smart" plans without activating the smart meter?
I'm currently on a Day/Night meter so not in any danger of being switched soon, but the plan is to switch everyone by 2025 so presumably deemed export has a rapidly approaching expiry date
Have a read of the last few pages here https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058235650/switching-electric-gas-providers#latest A few people switching providers encountered the issue of smart meters and plans when trying to switch.
Expiry date? Has it even begun?!
Ha, true enough, we'll probably still be waiting on payment after all the smart meters have been installed 🙄
Thanks, looks like it's a bit dicey changing after you get the smart meter installed, even if it isn't activated
I guess I'd better make sure I've got plenty of solar panels installed before I start paying the rip off smart rates
Has any provider paid out yet?
Pinenergy have.
Yep can confirm pinergy have as received second payment with this month's billing. Just north of €350 received since June with them for fit.
EI offered me a 30% discount smart plan when my contract expired there in the past week. That plan doesn’t seem to be available when you look at their plans online so it’s worth phoning around too. Waiting to see now what happens with the FIT on the old account
still waitng for EI to tell me that they will pay me anything at all. no resonse to any help request... nothing.

You where one of the first movers if I'm correct. Any regrets going with them.
Absolutely none at all. Customer service top notch. Microgen payments prompt.
Only thing I am not fan of is level pay systems. Albeit my level pay is only 7€ a month now after the initial first two months. So far the monthly bills are showing just standing charges and 10-12 day units. Standing charges are one of the lowest around too which for me was one of the main things I was looking for when switching providers
Are they taking the tax off FIT ...apparently its only the first €200 is tax free the remainder will be taxed at whatever tax rate you are on and is classed as income. Are they deducting from source?
Or will it be self-reported, thanks
Self reported, I don't think utility company's want to get involved with PPS numbers.
Time to change the name on the bill to the lowest earner in the house. TBH no one has a clue how this one will shake out.
Yep not deducted at source. So assume will be self declared in January but no real guidance out there on it.
Help me out here people: If one's Solar PV generates taxable income but required capital investment (obviously) is there any reason why the array wouldn't be eligible for capital allowance relief against tax (https://www.revenue.ie/en/companies-and-charities/corporation-tax-for-companies/corporation-tax/capital-allowances-and-deductions.aspx)
I've been searching far and wide for a reason that it would not be eligible. But as far as I can tell, we can claim the capital cost of the equipment back at 12.5% (pa for 8 years) loss to offset any tax liability on the export payments.
Nevermind - I found the answer to this.
It's because it would have to be exclusively for trade benefit (IE because it's shared by the house in a personal capacity it's deemed to not be trade equipment).
Im not a tax expert so I don't have a definitive answer but what I would point out is that what you have linked is capital allowances for companies. As a Solar PV micro generator you are not a company so that specific link would not apply.
My gut tells me that revenue would not be expecting capital allowances to be set against the income for a householder. They recognise that it makes sense to make moderate gains tax free so they introduced the €200 allowance and I suspect they expect you to pay the tax above that.
Darn, I guess working from home wouldn't count unless you're somehow using the PV array solely for that purpose
