It's all falling apart alarmingly fast for Boris Johnson across the water. How long you reckon he has left as British Prime Minister? Hours surely?
How many parties are they talking about now? I've lost count.

It's not complete because the UK still doesn't have the Norway style deal that would keep the UK in the single market and tied to EU law.
The Norway style deal Farage called for over and over and over again.
Oh my 🤣🤣
Haven't finished season 1 of "This England" yet but season 2 looks set to be a cracker.
My money is on Idris Elba to play Kwazi.
What a wonderful example of deep structured thought!!
I... I... I don't know what to do with my hands.
Not to mention that the Tories themselves don't appear to think that it is complete, judging by their dissatisfaction with the Northern Ireland Protocol (that they already agreed to).
Trying to get a Norway style arrangement at this stage is just delusional. The Norway arrangent is and always was the worst of all possibilities - been a rule taker without representation in making those rules. This was literally what the Tories stood against.
Well Nigel Garage can fcuk right off. A lot of the UKs current woes are a direct result of Brexit.
Sean O'Grady had an interesting piece in the independent. He reckon is now the de facto PM and will be able to pusue his own policies since Truss is so damaged.
Might be a calming influence on UK policies. If the likes of Farage are up in arms, he must be doing something right.
Well it's what Farage always wanted.
who is now the de facto PM?
In fact this guy is clearly so powerful, as well as so across everything, he was able to blank his name out from that post....
Sorry just re re read what I wrote, I left out a bit....
The journalist was suggesting Jeremy Hunt will be largely in charge. Truss will be PM in name only
Jeremy hunt I think. He has the purse strings and all the power. To lose another chancellor would end Truss for good. He is there as her cover, which means that she largely has to do what he wants. There’ll be negotiation, sure, but he has the upper hand
that appointment will have enraged Farage and the libertarians and brexiteers on the right
I hate typing on phones..
Ah Jermey Hunt, whose Chinese wife works for the the Chinese state broadcaster and produced programmes such as "Xinjiang is a land of harmony and definately not labour camps for Muslims."
That's never going to come back to bite him.
Yes. The one the nurses love.
He’ll be the CEO to Truss the chairman, and think that’s probably what we’ll have until the next election. When the Conservatives will get crucified anyway
How does he sort the mess he's inherited? Raise taxes? Repeal some of the massive boondogglery that's gone on?
Can he do anything over the weekend before the pound crashes on Monday?
To think that the old-fogey conservative membership couldn't repress their innate racism for a minute and make the logical choice for at least the semblance of competence in Sunak!
widely expected that the 1c tax cut will be ditched as well. It was notably missing in Truss’ letter.
There’s still a gap, without some tax rises or spending cuts. I would guess that Hunt and the treasury will sit down with the OBR, the BoE, and key market participants, go through projections and snip around the edges of expenditure (and probably ditch the defence budget commitment) to close the gap to an amount that can be covered by borrowing of an amount acceptable to the markets.
There’s two weeks until the fiscal statement and it’ll be a substantive exercise in reverse engineering to come up with an appropriate funding number
I think that the markets will give Hunt that time
Lots here denied there was racism in the selection of PM but I agree, it was as plain as the nose of your face.
Britain's the only country more embarrassing to itself than Russia atm. Absolute clown car.
Including to a dolphin on one occasion. That picture never ceases to amuse.
What a brilliant day, this is just epic viewing.
I said it when she become PM that she would sacrifice Kwarteng to save her own skin and boy I called it well.
Damn I love UK Politics, I love the back stabbing, I love the in fighting, it's car crash tv at it's finest
The problem with the UK public and the Tories in particular is that they cannot see that the path that Thatcher set them on 40 years ago has inevitably led them to the crisis they are in now. Until they realize that they will be incapable of making the hard choices that actually create sustainable growth (and that mean taxing the wealthy enough to pay for investment in education and infrastructure - and finally developing an industrial strategy with development banks to support it).
Without EU membership it will always be an uphill battle, but even if there was a u turn tomorrow from UK.gov on Brexit, I can't see the EU ever having the UK back in. Once bitten, etc.
As Boris pointed out in one of his articles - the systemic problems of the UK have nothing to do with the EU membership. Its a cultural thing - a certain criminality of mindset (the all powerful Square Mile and its influence on government and the maline influence of royalty and class) among those of power which hobbles the UK. The whole point of Brexit was to avoid EU constraints on that criminality. All the dodgy contracts to Tory donars during Covid would have elicited significant EU fines.
Its kinda irrelevant because just now the UK would not meet the fiscal propriety tests, or a number of human rights markers and would be refused.
Besides, the likes of Viktor Orban is going to block any new accessions to the EU for as long as the Commission are trying to punish him and his Government. And that could go on for a long while.
As it stands, the UK would be doing well to regain EU membership by 2030, even if, as you say, they took a decision to seek candidate status tomorrow.
The logistical choice was long long gone before Sunak was ever a choice.
They have been making the wrong choice since May and again with Johnson.
It's been over half a decade of bad choices.
Thats what happens when you let the senile make your decisions. The Tory membership is biased well into their 70's at this stage.
