Yeah, 'lame duck' is a political phrase that has long had real meaning.
It certainly doesn't apply to a president who has control of all three branches of government.
The attacks on Kiev are reminiscent of the Nazis using V weapons towards the end of the war. Nasty for the civilians but won't make a scrap of difference to the actual war
Take that to the Biden thread. "It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt."
Seen on reddit, so pinch of salt....
Zelenskyy has been evacuated to a bomb shelter and will address the country later in regards to an ultimatum from Putin.
Bomb shelter thing I believe, ultimatum, hope just random rumours from twitter. Suppose it happens when a city gets bombed.
Edit: more missiles incoming.
He will be a lame duck after November. The election cycle focus switches to 2024 and he will NOT be running. If he was playing an absolute blinder the war would not have started.
Where's Greenpilot,
Rumours Russian aviation has switched off all transponders.
Nonsense, this is revenge for the kerch bridge, nothing else
We have seen the same pattern before
Those Russian troops are not ready before another 2 months atleast if they want them trained to basics atleast.
Oh and your link is not a very valid site
They are just randomly flinging missles at Kiev no method to their madness, just firing at a City and hoping they hit something
Lame duck has a real meaning though, lost on the Putinbot that made the claim though.
Unadulterated scutter.
Stop reading conspiracy blogs FFS. You are making a holy show of yourself.
By any objective measure, Biden has played an absolute blinder in relation to Ukraine. One shudders to think what would have happened had the orange buffoon remained in power and his 'very smart, very tough' BFF in Moscow had invaded.
Take that 'lame duck President' nonsense to the Biden thread. He's not a lame duck. It's as valid a point by you as the rest of your post.
Stephen Colbert: Truthiness is, ‘What I say is right, and [nothing] anyone else says could possibly be true.’ It’s not only that I feel it to be true, but that I feel it to be true. There’s not only an emotional quality, but there’s a selfish quality.
I told you the Kremlin is playing for time. They have drawn their line with the annexation, that is their negotiating position backed up by force. The Russians are building up weapons in Belgarod, Crimea & Zaporizhzhia. Their men are being assembled. The political situation in Europe and USA is not static either, politicians pay attention to polls. Western media shapes the information war as much as Russian media. How do you determine the truth when either side is bluffing, fear mongering, using stategic coverups, engaging in nationalist myth making (our side virtuous, orcs are evil), and liberal lies.
President Zelensky has spent the last year trying to draw NATO powers into direct conflict with Russia, he has yet to achieve success, despite many attempts to do so. The rhetoric between the USA, EU, and Russia have certainly become more fiery, however, the geopolitical chessboard pieces have remained steadfastly in place, the major parties to the conflict do not want to witness World War III breaking out. US and EU are quite content to drag this out if they can make Russia bleed just like in Afghanistan. There is no public attempt to diffuse the situation between those parties. India has recently offered to act as mediator.
President Zelensky and his more recent predecessors have completely botched realpolitik. Instead of harnessing Ukraine’s power as a neutral buffer state, his government went all-in on becoming subservient to one coalition while antagonising its more powerful neighbour. This has had devastating consequences for the Ukrainian people.
It would appear they do not have the capability of on going sustained attacks, but the want for bigger weapons will certainly be amplified this week.
Russia is not capable of fighting on battlefield, but capable of murdering civilians. Instead of talking we need air defence, MLRS, longer-range projectiles
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky
It is though a sign of weakness and desperation. They are losing badly in the armed confrontation so are resorting to their Syria playbook.
And, like all the other stupid tactics they have engaged in so far in this conflict, it is self-defeating. It practically begs the collective West to send more and better weaponry.
This is where they hit in Kyiv. There's nothing but a university and a hospital there
The west isn't going to say to Ukraine: okay, time to start hitting apartment blocks with Russians in Crimea and a few border cities as well.
How the Ukrainians refrain from "accidentally" doing so is something on days like this I find hard to understand. But I can't see circumstances in which it would ever become a deliberate strategy
They won't and shouldn't, what's needed is to give the Ukrainians the tools to remove the Russians from their territories and defend the civilians against criminal attacks like today's.
Move against all the relatives of the Russian leadership and their hangers on in the West including seizure of their assets.
Expel Russian diplomats on mass, shut down and seize the embassies. We don't negotiate with terrorists.
Expel Russia from the UN. Take the kid gloves off and deal with this rogue nation once and for all.
Russia still taking out strategic bridges and military targets
You'd have to wonder, if Russian attacks keep happening against civilian targets away from the contested regions, at what point do Ukrainian/Western strategies change direction and counter attacks come into play.
Sickening, enraging news this morning, and all too predictable.
Sustained missile attack on going according to BBC and Guardian reporters on the ground.
Cowardly and predictable.
If they hit the tanks and it had enough power to collapse a bridge on a lower level 40m away then surely it would have collapsed the bridge it was on and the one on the same level 20m away.
What attacks on Russian speaking population? I think you may be confusing attacks on rebels armed and sponsored by the Russian state with attacks on Russian speaking population.
The Russian propagandists have done a very good job in making the feeble minded believe that "Russian speaking Ukrainian" = "Russian Supporting". Zelensky is Russian speaking, and Zelensky received a higher proportion of the vote in Russian speaking areas than non Russian speaking areas when elected
That's all the Russians have, hit defenseless civilians.
Cowards.
Absolute cowards.
Also wouldn’t they depend on Russian resources to make batteries ?
Has Chay Bowes claimed that Kiev was reallly bombed by Ukraine yet?
Putin is a mass murderer and anyone who doesn’t want him and Russia defeated is a supporter and/or accessory to mass murder
What a scumbag, Putin gets his bridge hit, calls it an act of terrorism, so he bombs a city centre street.
Not going to be good this. Russian cnuts
Russia doing what it normally does this morning, killing civilians.
When your military can't fight the opposition's military what do they do, they act like Nazis and kill civilians. Whether it's firing missiles, shells or bombs at civilians targets or murdering innocents in torture chambers it shows that the base beastial society that is Russia needs to be dealt with.
Russia and it's so called leaders need to be destroyed.
