Whatever way you look at it, oil production cuts mostly from Saudi and UAE will cause global oil prices to rise, even Russian oil prices. Depending on the cap value placed on russian oil - they may shift more exports elsewhere instead. The oil cartel always win

If anything cutting oil production ahead of time is the one smart move, cut supply now else demand drops will cause oil prices to plummet.

The Kherson offensive may not be as easy as it seemed over these past few days. The Russians have only given up territory that is not much military use to them. That is something that I am also concerned about. At the beginning of the pandemic Dr. Fauci had near universal support in the USA (Something like 90%). Fringe elements in the Republican party first began to turn on him and that soon spread throughout the party. Support for him soon became just another partisan issue in the USA.
My twitter feed is mostly Ukraine and Finance/Economics/Crypto. That latter space is stuffed full of libertarian types. I can already see them turning against the support that the USA is giving Ukraine (Elon Musk would be typical of them). Thankfully that feeling isn't widespread in the Republican party but I fear that it is only a matter of time. Trump's idiot son is already tweeting about it the whole time - he's usually a MAGA bell-weather. It is looking very likely that the Republicans will take back the House next month and so if the party position changes then they could block the passage of any bills for helping Ukraine.
All the more reason for Ukraine to press home their advantage while they still have the full backing of their western allies.

The price of oil is going up because of a fall in supply. That includes Russian oil.
If EU want to pay less than market rates for russian oil because of price cap, then russian oil will be sold elsewhere and eu can try source their oil from the gulf instead. Price caps do not tend to work in any market, and they will not work in a one-sided way like the proposed cap on russian oil, because in this case they have other markets to sell to.
Very interesting - its been known for some time that war bloggers like rybar and others who arent shy of criticising the MoD and Kremlin mightnt be looked on favourably, but this seems to be the first acknowledgement that the Kremlin see it as a real problem

If they cause a global recession, demand plummets, so does price, you can't pull out of a global recession in mere days. And demand won't be exclusive to Oil.

The US and UK need Saudi Arabia on their side also, for control of the red sea shipping. China's new base in Djibouti is seen as a threat, so if the US try and "punish" the house of Saud they may see them align with the Chinese instead and all of a sudden the red sea shipping lanes have significant control by the Chinese & their allies.

Jan Stoltenberg is one of the few people who speaks about the moral side of the argument. Wallace and Daly are too absorbed in their amateur theories to think like adults.

In that part of the world (and others of course) people like to flaunt their wealth, and no better way than to show it every time you smile. It's also a good way to keep an eye on it. But no way can I see anyone allowing the dentist to keep what he has extracted, especially in the amount shown in the pic. What the hell would a dentist be keeping that amount of gold for anyway? Not for everyday dentistry for sure. That haul looks like the work of several dentists and taken over time too. And almost miraculously. this guy pops up and says " I was the only dentist there, so all that gold belongs to me !!! " More than a pinch of salt required here. Could this gold have been accumulated from many areas over the last 7 mths? Until the boom dropped when the Russians were kicked out?
